brb farted a loud one in the middle of my overhead press set :ohgodwhy:

LC21 03-18-2014 06:31 PM

When im benching with a powerlifting stance and load up the bar close to my 1RM, i always feel a strain in my lowerback even if i wear a belt. I feel like this is the limiting factor to pressing more weight, is there a remedy for this?

Thx bench godz

red_sir 03-18-2014 07:52 PM

Not a bench god, but squeeze dem ass cheeks hard.

TurboFC3S 03-18-2014 08:40 PM

so today at the gym I was doing close** grip bench, 135lbs and I was holding onto it on the smooth part of the bar and it was a tad slippery, dunno what happened I was doing the weight no problem but on my 5th rep it slipped slightly and both my wrists just buckled and dropped the whole barbell from almost full extention Strait onto somewhere between my lower chest and my sternum area , amazingly$I feel fine and it didn't hurt, shit bounced up like 5 inches too off my chest and I pretty much caught itlol. Never doing suicide grip again and gonna go get x Rays just in case tomorrow.. Chest hurt for a hour after the adrenaline wore off felt like a bruised rib but it's fine now lol

hotong 03-18-2014 09:14 PM

Do you use suicide grip?

LC21 03-18-2014 09:15 PM

Oh yeah, one time tried squeezing dat cheeks so hard i think i pulled something while benching, even with stretches. Fuark, red sir teach me your ways :concentrate:

red_sir 03-18-2014 09:26 PM

Come to west richmond community centre!

TurboFC3S 03-18-2014 09:27 PM

Ya suicide grip. Def bad idea since I usually do closed grip. Lesson learned lol and I'm one lucky motherfucker.. Could have been much worse if I didn't have my chest out and core tight

I should have taken proper measurements before I started my workout routine a couple months back. Regret this now, but I guess it's never too late.

For you guys that take measurements, Which areas do you measure?

I'm thinking Hip, Waist, Chest, Thighs? I don't lift (yet) but would still like to do muscle measurements, biceps? quads?

320icar 03-18-2014 10:08 PM

I think pictures are one of the biggest importances. Measurements should be more day to day like jean size etc. measure your arms/forearms, calves, waist. Etc. don't forget to record lifts. I have never paid muh attention to one rep max, i prefer working loads like what id do for 8x3 etc.

And didn't that Ukrainian power lifter die not long ago from doing a huge bench in suicide grip and having it crush his chest?

After 6 weeks out due to surgery, I was finally able to squat again last night. Feels good man. Walking is a challenge today :D
