For $16 a month, I think it's as fair as it can get. good set of heavy freeweights, racks, and open space shared between a guys that wanna save a good buck.

I know what you mean though, the first and last time I was there, I had to carry bars with me going from the squat rack to the bench rack to be sure I'd have a barbell to bench with on a goddamn bench.

slowly transitioning over

I've been practicing some snatch grip high pulls lately, and have been dabbling with some cleans and snatches ever since purchasing my oly shoes.

if you're ever over at the ubc gym, there's quite a few experienced weightlifters that compete. it's one of the few gyms with a solid set of bumpers and platform to dump your weights on.

how often do you deadlift?

i will be aiming for 405 bench by winter

I usually deadlift twice a week. Sumo burnouts during squat day and conventional during back days. I started this routine for about 6 months now and #'s have been going up pretty steadily. My body likes the change!

THERE IS NO REASON TO BE ALIVE IF YOU CANT DO DEADLIFT

Awesome motivation

alwayslive 03-22-2014 02:52 PM

For you SC brahs, do you guys do more DB/BB movements or Hammerstrength movements during your back/pull days? I find that just doing the hammer strength machines with a set of pendalay rows and pullups is more than enough for my back lol

320icar 03-22-2014 03:40 PM

For hammer strength. Are you referring to the machine near the squat racks? Where you use plates and pull the machine down?

As much as I like the hammer strength machines, they don't provide enough freedom for movement. With dumbbell rows you can angle it and position it to however you like. I personally like pulling my elbows toward the bottom of my torso. Just cant recreate that with a machine. I use both though.
