you can still add pushups into your workouts to help build strength. Pushups really helped me build strength, and with increased strength, it'll be alot easier to get hypertrophy. To be honest, I never really was the guy that came out to be super buff, big or anything like that because I had a small frame. That didn't really stop me from going to the gym. I worked on strength, and then preceded with lower rep sets and put on a ton of muscle mass on my pinnerass frame. From the guys that work out during the time I go to the gym, I pretty much bench and squat the heaviest weight.

You need motivation bro. Usually having a gym partner helps get you going. I prefer not to have one though lol. But if so, then I don't mind it entirely. Or watch bodybuilding/powerlifting training videos. That usually gets me pumped before I go.

Its all mindset.

Either you want to go for yourself and get jacked, shredded, lean, huge, etc etc whatever shit you want to call it. OR you simply don't go and whine about it here.

Just sayin'.

:okay:

The tiredness gets to me. I used to workout before work like 8;30-9;30 and I was half ass.

I work 8 hours straight up with 15 minutes break then head over to the gym with leftover energy I have from lunch/breakfast.

:okay:

You guys are good at motivating people. Going to take my pre-workout tomorrow and go hit it up.

Yeah natty. Thanks ill take that as a compliment :bigthumb:
I was around like 12-13% bf in that earlier video. I had also lost mad weight due to being emo/bitch after break up. Getting back into the swing of things now. I also noticed most people look bigger when cutting, maybe thats it. I've considered juicing in the future but only when i hit my genetic potential for strength/size. I've only been training for 5 years so I figure I have a long way to go.

did not hit the gym all of last week.

any of you in surrey that work out at GRC? maybe I need a work out bud.

You need to find your drive. Figure out your why, then find out how. Train your mind and your body will follow.

Yeah butt fucking is bad news bears.

My friend who's a physio told me the reason behind butt tucking/loosing curve is due to really tight hamstrings/ tight groin. When you're down in the hole ATG if you have tight hamstrings, the hammys of the legs will "pull" your butt downwards which causes you to loose your curve and butt tuck. This puts you prone to lower back injury now because instead of the weight being evenly distributed down your back it is all concentrated on your lower back (think of it as doing deadlifts with a super rounded back) .

Ever since my friend told me that I've been stretching my hammy, groining, legs in general and I can feel that my recovery has greatly increased.

Realistically for the natural lifter, you have to lift heavy weight to make your muscles grow.

+1 to this. I go back and forth between high-weight low-rep, and low-weight high-rep 'maximum form' workouts. I need real world strength, not to look good on the beach or on a stage. I am also capped at a certain weight or I can't fly. So while that video makes sense for bodybuilders that's a very specific niche of people that go to the gym. It probably applies to very few people posting in this thread. I just need to be as strong as I can for my body weight and IMO form follows function for my lifting style.

All that being said I decided to do a 'bodybuilding' leg workout today. 4 sets per exercise with 10-12 reps, finished with squats after all my isolation exercises instead of the reverse which is my usual routine. Wicked burn, destroyed my legs, almost failed on the last 3 reps of my 3rd set of squats. Took everything I had to squeeze them out with perfect form and flex.

Walked out of the gym and puked in the bushes :fuckthatshit:

PS - Get well soon Jim

I too use that term I'm a bodybuilder not a weight lifter, but there is no denying lifting heavy makes muscles grow.

Berz out.

It seems like I have been saying that for years, but people (not saying you) would constantly shit on me for it. Glad everyone is coming around

Another funny thing about these videos is that these guys are out of breath just from talking :lawl:

Excelsis 05-27-2012 08:26 PM

guess people like dorian couldn't stand working out for 3 hours a day lol

nns 05-27-2012 08:27 PM

Is butt tucking most common in ATG squats? Or even parallel squats as well? What does it feel like if it happens?

The only reason I ask is because I've never heard of it, let alone seen it. I don't even know if I've even experienced it, it's so foreign to me.

It's high comedy that the dl area and dip bar are right in the middle of all the Cybex and Life Fitness machines... You guys keep doing your pinner leg curls and triceps extension machines, I'll be doing Hack squats and >1 plate dips like a fucken ALPHA baws :fuckyea:

Speaking of compliments, got a great one on the weekend.

Went to Powell River for brother in law's 30th bd and went kayaking for 3 hrs. He had a couple couch surfers from the UK who said they were admiring my shape. The one said "I can tell you have put in a lot of time and hard work in at the gym."

It's great when someone recognizes the time and hard work we do to build muscle and change our bodies for the better!

SkinnyPupp 05-28-2012 08:53 AM

Sounds like they may have been subtly insulting you... they're british, who the fuck knows! lol

TouringTeg 05-28-2012 08:55 AM

hahah yah. Well I am taking it as a compliment anyway :D

vafanculo 05-28-2012 08:59 AM

During my clubbing days I used to be a fat slob and never hit the gym. Meaning I never picked up chicks.

Went clubbing other day for the first time in 5 years, and after an ok transformation within the last 3, I got approached by 3 girls. One even grabbed my junk loll.. Now I'm married, and I can't do shit haha

But compliments, and stuff like this, just add to the fuel in your determination tank.

I even went out and bought my first sized M shirt yesterday, which I plan to wear sometimes during the summer (fits really bad now, but once it fits, I'm gonna hit the club again lol). Just thinking 3 years ago, I was making my way into xxxL.

I love the gym
