How do you plan on puting all that cash back in the bank? Don't they flag you if a transaction is more than 10000$?

There are a lot of reasons. Apple and Google disagreed over several aspects of Google Maps and how it should be integrated into iOS over the years. Google wanted more access to information and more prominent branding while Apple wanted the opposite. It really comes down to control.

I think the timing of Apple's Maps has to do with when their contract with Google was due. Apple couldn't go to Google and say "hey, we're building our own maps, but it's not quite ready - can we get a 6 month extension" to which Google promptly said "no fucking way".

Apple was probably faced with agreeing to terms with Google they didn't like so they decided to release Maps sooner instead of extending their Google contract. Apple has been using Google Maps forever, so it wouldn't have been a big deal to keep using it for another 6 months while working on their own Maps.

Meanwhile google said its waiting for apple to approve their maps in the App Store, hopefully they don't purposely delay it because it could be the fastest downloaded app of all time lol

My friend just picked up an iPhone 5 and he said there were scratches right out of the box ... so he exchanged another one and SAME THING ... wtf?!... what are the chances... you think it's careless packaging or delivery?...

Anyways, becareful with your new phones, inspect it before you leave the store with it!

Do you think their maps app will be as good as Google in 6 months? Or even useful?

happened to me too bra! Opened my box on friday noticed on the top I had a scratch made an appointment for Sunday at the Coquitlam store and got the genius to change mine out. I looked at the new one and it wasn't up to par so he brought three more in special white boxes with numbers on them. I took a look at all three and 1 out of the 3 were in good condition. So I picked the best one and bounced. Their customer service is number 1 in my opinion. They need to tight down on their quality control needs to step it up big time. With all these phones being opened with scratches and dings thats unexceptable on apples part!

A week ago I brought my 2008 macbook in since my battery was bulging the tech said my apple care was over but said we would replace it for free since he said it shouldn't do that. I was puummped haha!

I'm going to order an unlocked ip5 for my dad so just wondering if I should go for the white one seeing how the black ones have issues with the back chipping and scratching?

Recon604 09-24-2012 10:31 PM

It'll probably hold up better over time with the metal antenna around the phone not being black. Check it out when you unbox it though cause a lot of white models are coming with nicks and scratches brand new as well.

Is ordering the iphone from apple for full price the only way you can bring it home BNIB?

DanHibiki 09-24-2012 11:17 PM

Man I got screwed out of a sale today.

My cousin got his friend in Japan help him order some but wasn't able to get the invoice from her in time. She has no data on her phone and was at work. So when he met up with a buyer for 980, he tried calling apple hotline to get them to email an invoice and it didn't come in time....45min it took and the buyers didn't buy it. Fuck.

nabs 09-24-2012 11:21 PM

Mine is flawless, no dramage on my iphone.

winson604 09-24-2012 11:25 PM

What a nightmare the iPhone 5 has been so far, but really it's a nightmare with Bell.

GF left Rogers (ECF) and went with Bell. Checked before hand and there's multiple towers within 1 km of our house. The reception and LTE on the iPhone seemed fine until we got home. Barely 1 bar on 3G and sometimes drops to No Service. Phone conversations are impossible unless she goes outside otherwise it just cuts in and out then disconnects. Thought it might have been a 1 off and now 3 full days in, no change. Understandably, some crappy reception here around the City isn't out of the norm but who would have ever expected in our own house. Don't live in some crazy concrete building, basement or anything, just a plain ol regular Vancouver Special. On Rogers we were always full bar inside the house. I haven't experienced such reception issues since I started using cell phones back in 1995. Spoke to Bell and they said you can cancel without penalty if it's within 14 days and not going over 30 mins. An hour was used so it's too late. Essentially have an iPhone 5 paper weight now. FUCK YOU!

Sorry for the rant, super frustrated right now and totally off topic :okay:

/end rant

That is really shitty.. but I will PM you if I hear about any changes through the grapevine within the next week or so. (hopefully sooner than later :()

Same. Mine was fine. Same with my friend.

Man the battery life feels worse than my ip4 :( I wonder if it's just because of LTE
