It's not very Apple-like to admit they fucked up, so this is nice to hear.

Same with robson street.

Have you tried it just saying "what restaurants area around here"?

I think it might be the commercial drive and robson street that fucks up.

When you exchange at the Apple store, do they give you an unlocked one or is it carrier locked again?

If you originally have a locked phone then the phone will be automatically locked to your original carrier. If you have an unlocked phone to begin with then it will be unlocked. The exchange model will also be the exact spec to your original purchase as well meaning the amount of storage and color will be the same as the one you doing exchange

Every time a CEO apologizes, many people get fired

chouchou 09-28-2012 09:32 AM

But the real kicker? He actually suggested using Bing, Nokia or Google in the meantime if you're having issues. And Apple even explains how to get Google Maps back (the same trick explained in this thread by visiting maps.google.com and clicking on the create icon popup). That must have been difficult for Apple.

While we’re improving Maps, you can try alternatives by downloading map apps from the App Store like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, or use Google or Nokia maps by going to their websites and creating an icon on your home screen to their web app.

Sort of comes across as pandering, but whatevs

Siri is working great for me. I just asked her what are some Vietnamese restaurants on Kingsway and she gave me a list. You can ask her for directions to the nearest Starbucks, tell her to open apps, it's pretty useful I'd have to say.

c3m 09-28-2012 01:49 PM

^ if you have a Bluetooth enable car, you can use Siri to dial out as well without fiddling with the phone

Charge cycle as in drain the battery and charge til 100% again?

I hear that that's bad for lithium batteries

nabs 09-28-2012 02:20 PM

no you dont need to drain the battery, but just let it run down to like 50ish and run it up again, it should be fine. my battery lasts a long time... but maybe its just me comparing it to my android phone.

I don't see it coming across as pandering, it's a pretty big step in the CEO decides to apologize for a big fuck up like this.

Haven't taken my phone out of the case since I got it on release day. Noticed some slight chops in the side unibody by the top of the phone... Must be chaffing inside the TPU case

MTV Cribs 09-28-2012 06:01 PM

I just opened my phone that I received in the mail today and there is a dent protruding from the inside in the middle of the back. Also there is a crack on the metal at the top where the plastic meets metal with a scratch about 1 cm long coming out from the crack.

I didn't even turned the phone on yet. Only took it out of the box and removed the plastic covers on the front and back. Here's are pictures I took with my iPhone 4 so it's not that great. If I used a real camera with a macro settings then you can really see it better.
