Cancel reservation... walk into apple store, get iPhone5.

I didn't even have to reserve, just walked in and walked out with one.

girlfriends have bad luck with iphones brah. My gf bought a 4s off someone and it had the same issue. This is an actual defect that happens to iphones...rarely, but it happens.

GF left Rogers (ECF) and went with Bell. Checked before hand and there's multiple towers within 1 km of our house. The reception and LTE on the iPhone seemed fine until we got home. Barely 1 bar on 3G and sometimes drops to No Service. Phone conversations are impossible unless she goes outside otherwise it just cuts in and out then disconnects. Thought it might have been a 1 off and now 3 full days in, no change. Understandably, some crappy reception here around the City isn't out of the norm but who would have ever expected in our own house. Don't live in some crazy concrete building, basement or anything, just a plain ol regular Vancouver Special. On Rogers we were always full bar inside the house. I haven't experienced such reception issues since I started using cell phones back in 1995. Spoke to Bell and they said you can cancel without penalty if it's within 14 days and not going over 30 mins. An hour was used so it's too late. Essentially have an iPhone 5 paper weight now. FUCK YOU!

Sorry for the rant, super frustrated right now and totally off topic :okay:

/end rant

^ yes i know but the other pages won't load for me it just keep saying loading. only the home page loads fine.

i want to know why this is working lol. this is theoretically impossible with a unjailbroken phone

DanHibiki 09-26-2012 05:42 PM

Can you give instructions on how to use/navigate for us non-chinese readers?

Also, I found flipboard and Pulse to be cool unifying everything but I don't see much use of it.

are you in good LTE coverage? If your phone constantly searches for LTE network then that might drain the battery faster

Fuck, I thought it was only me! Now that you brought it up, I'm in Coquitlam and it's always 1-2 bars 3G and on the rare occasion it gets LTE, it's 1 bar. I double checked the LTE coverage on Rogers coverage map and I should have no problems with LTE since LTE covers right up to PoCo. I don't live in the basement either.

Return it and get a new one I guess?

WTF does Apple gets these #s from.

J-force 09-26-2012 07:54 PM

I didn't think there was such a problem either. Never heard about it. I was hopeful it was just poor reception, rogers fucking up or maybe her sim card? Theres nothing you could have done to fix it. It was pretty frustrating since there was no fix. Rogers suggested maybe it was a software issue?

Good article about Google Maps.

Google Maps For iPhone: Company Reportedly Developing New App For iOS 6

Quote:

But Apple announced back in June that it would be dropping Google Maps from the most recent version of iOS. So why wasn't Google ready with a standalone maps app for iOS 6 users to download? According to The Verge, Apple decided to terminate its contract with Google more than a year ahead of schedule.

"The decision, made sometime before Apple's WWDC event in June, sent Google scrambling to develop an iOS Google Maps app — an app which both sources say is still incomplete and currently not scheduled to ship for several months," The Verge wrote after obtaining statements from two "independent sources familiar with the matter."

Unnamed sources also told The New York Times that a Google Maps app for iPhone and iPad will be ready by the end of 2012. The Times' tipsters also said that Google was blindsided by Apple's decision to build its own Maps application before the companies' partnership officially ended.

Google Chairman Eric Schmidt, who recently spoke with reporters in Tokyo about the iOS 6 maps debacle, said that his company's hands were tied when Apple made its decision. "We think it would have been better if they had kept ours. But what do I know?" Schmidt said, according to Reuters. "What were we going to do, force them not to change their mind? It's their call."

well when i work i'm all over the lower mainland. It goes from LTE to 3g to edge sometimes.

maybe thats why, sometimes i can see it 2 bars lte, then it would go to full bars 3g.

comparing 5 to 4s, in a full day doing my routine task, 4s would be around 30% by the end of the day, 11pm. 5 i would be like 10% by 6pm

Nah mang, I don't buy it being a phone issue considering the reception is fine every where but inside my house. If the phone was shotty I would have troubles elsewhere too. I ported back over to Rogers today and in the process of selling the iphone to pay for Bells stupid ECF their shoving down our throats.

all the phones in Apple are not locked until they are activated..

that's why every iPhone leaving the Apple store must be activated before you can take it home

yes, they do HUP.. I got mine from HUP at the Apple Store too
