I don't see why the youtube app is such a concern? Personally I prefer the browser version, because I can actually watch things in HD.

or the official youtube app

browser version's quality, even in HD doesn't look as nice as the app quality

Pro tip:

Try "Jasmine" as a youtube client. From the makers of Alien Blue. I think it's a sick, sick app, and it's my go-to youtube app.

My coworker today showed me Map+

it's a 3rd party app that uses Google Maps data, so you can upgrade to iOS6 and basically still keep google maps.

It doesn't even go full screen on the iPad.

Ikkaku 10-02-2012 11:41 PM

:lol all the things I've been missing, since I haven't updated my ipad2 since purchase

asian_XL 10-03-2012 06:18 AM

sold another 16G black...HKD$8350, can't believe the demand is still high in Hong Kong after 2 weeks

Just saw this on my fb: The iPhone 5 Really Costs You $1800

Do data plans in the states really cost that much? I always thought they were way cheaper than us!

Cheapest is $60/mo but only 300MB data and pay as you go text message? That's ridiculous!

SkinnyPupp 10-03-2012 08:29 AM

I pay $30 a month for true unlimited (and I mean true - I use about 200-300GB a month). But that's only because I bought my phone separately. If I were to get a 64GB iPhone 5, I would be paying $50-60 a month for a capped plan

So yeah, you guys are paying a LOT more than retail for these "$200" phones. A LOT.

Is this in Hong Kong or the US?

HK. the prices are good if you own your phone, but subsidized or "free" plans are just as expensive as US and Canada. In fact they usually make you buy the phone outright, and you only get your discount paid back in monthly discounts to your bill.

Wow, that's a lot of Revscene and pron. :denied:

SkinnyPupp 10-03-2012 08:36 AM

Actually it's because my 3G connection is faster than my land line (true 10 mbps compared to anywhere between 4-7 mbps). So when I need to get something quicker, it's from my phone :fuckthatshit:

Hondaracer 10-03-2012 09:17 AM

So your tethering your phone then obviously?

The most I ever used on my 6gb plan was 4.5 and that was streaming a tonne of music and stuff through apps

SkinnyPupp 10-03-2012 09:22 AM

yup tethering. without it, I don't know how much I'd use. Probably not even a few GB

SumAznGuy 10-03-2012 09:26 AM

I've managed to use over 7 gb in a month from streaming tv shows.
But now that mega uploader is gone, not much left to watch except for youtube.

wobuffet 10-03-2012 09:43 AM

does anyone know if there's any apple stores that have 32gb black iphone 5 in stock? i got a 16gb white only to realize i prefer the black one. and from previous iphone 4/4s experiences, 16gb is not enough for me.
so in other words, i just want to do an exchange.

wobuffet 10-03-2012 09:44 AM

btw, i already called every apple store and most just say they don't have any iphone 5 today or they only have 16gb in white.
sighh..

terkan 10-03-2012 10:55 AM

yours is with contract or no contract??

wobuffet 10-03-2012 11:00 AM

with a contract. i got it through apple store at oakridge. and yes it's within the 14 days and 30 min talk time usage.

Personally I think they shouldn't include the month fees for it since many people would be having and using some sort of monthly plans that are similar or the same if they use other smartphones

Unless the people who are using iPhone 5 now with contract did not plan to sign up contract or use other phones if they did not get the iPhone 5.

Mr.HappySilp 10-03-2012 12:28 PM

Anyone know a good map app that I can use. I need to have one that shows the bus route and stuff....
So far only google map works but the webversion is just too slow and lag.......

:seriously:

You pay for data/cell coverage, regardless of phone. That data/cell actually subsidizes the phone, so instead of costing $2300, it only costs $1800 because you save $500 through the subsidies.

Through the article's logic, a $15000 car financed over 5 years (a contract) actually costs $30000 because there is an additional $15000 in insurance and gas. Which clearly doesn't make sense.

asian_XL 10-03-2012 04:08 PM

skinny, what provider are you using? one2free or PCCW
