My iphone 5 was sounding funny yesterday when calling my wife on her 5. I'm on Rogers, so maybe they were having some network issues. Our phones have always been clear and yesterday was the first time I noticed anything.

Is there a function where I can record a phone conversation? Maybe I can record a clip and show it to the Apple techs.

Ikkaku 10-09-2012 10:31 AM

weird... i texted a few times while my phone was still charging.. it went down to 96% battery, and then right after unplugging the phone, it fell down to 95% lol

'iPhone 5 fever' sweeps Hong Kong as mainland China awaits Apple's launch

By Neil Hughes
Stores in Hong Kong remain sold out of Apple's iPhone 5 as overwhelming demand continues. That's expected to spread soon to mainland China, as carrier China Unicom is said to be gearing up for the iPhone 5 launch.

The details come from analyst Brian White with Topeka Capital Markets, who is currently touring the region. He said all of the stores he has visited in Hong Kong were sold out of the iPhone 5, and described the city as having "iPhone 5 fever."

"At Apple's retail store, the iPhone 5 can be ordered online and a lottery process determines who is eligible for pickup at the store the next day," he wrote. "Based on our conversations, you might have a better shot at winning the lottery than getting the iPhone 5 the next day."

Meanwhile, China Unicom is said to have sold out completely of the iPhone 4S at some of its stores. That's because the carrier is looking to "avoid an inventory situation ahead of the iPhone 5 launch" in December, White said.

The iPhone has room to grow in China, as Apple's handset currently represents about 15 percent of the nation's smartphone market. The company is also addressing only about a third of the nation's subscriber base, China Unicom and China Telecom. A deal with China Mobile, which is the world's largest carrier with 688 million subscribers, has been rumored for years but never come to fruition.

The iPhone 5 launched in Hong Kong and 21 other countries the last Friday in September. A week before that, it debuted in the U.S. and 8 other countries. By December, the iPhone 5 will be available in a total of 100 countries with 240 carriers.
These guys....seriously. Same hype with iPhone 4 when it first came out, now everyone in HK will be upgrading from a iPhone 4 to 5 just because of the hype.

bwahahaha last time I was in HK, they were launching the ipad2. Massive line ups at all the fortress/broadway stores...

My battery was dropping fast cause my standby time and usage time was almost identical even though I never touched the phone for most of the day. I go to sleep with 90% and when I wake up it's 35%. The battery would fully drain in about 11-12 hours. When I first got the phone I restored it right out of the box with itunes as a new phone too. So I drained the battery and charged it to 100% but left it plugged in for another 5 hours after it reached 100%. I did this 4 times and now I'm getting this which is a lot better than before.

what is this, "usage"?

I really dont see my phone getting more than 4-5 hours of my usage: gaming with music on, rs chat, or maps

nabs 10-09-2012 01:27 PM

Usage = Time phone backlight is turned on
Standby = backlight is turned off.

iPhone 5 Production Rates Fall As Apple Increases Quality Control At Foxconn
http://cultofmac.cultofmaccom.netdna...pplestore4.jpg
A significant number of customers who have purchased the iPhone 5 in recent weeks have found that their device was damaged before it was even removed from the box. The type of aluminum Apple uses for the device, which helps make it so thin and light, means it’s easy to damage, and iPhone 5s are being scraped before they’ve even left the factory.

700 dollar phone, only 4" screen, not the best hardware in the market, and poor quality :fullofwin:

Hondaracer 10-10-2012 09:06 AM

Why do u say "only 4""? Ever occur to you that some people, like me, prefer smaller phones?

It's like laughing at a nice sport cars and saying "it's so expensive but not even as big as a van!"

Also apple has proven the benefits of in-house control over hardware and software. They don't have the best hardware specs yet the phone runs faster and smoother than the s3

4" is the limit, even this phone is feeling a bit large in my hand and i have fairly big hands

i notice because i have to stretch my thumb when holding it in one hand to reach the upper portion of the screen

any bigger wouldnt work.

I am using a 4" Meizu Quad. My fat fingers make it hard to click on a browser, that's why I prefer a bigger screen.

MarkyMark 10-10-2012 05:15 PM

Samsungs making a 4" version of the S3 for Europe, doubt it'll make it's way over here though...but yeah I think 4 inches for a phone is plenty, would have been nice if apple slimmed the bezel down though so the phone wasn't so long.

DanHibiki 10-10-2012 05:33 PM

^why europe only?? I'd consider it if it was a high-powered android phone. I love me my 4". That sounded wrong...

MarkyMark 10-10-2012 06:32 PM

^ I just read it on Engadget, Samsung feels there is a market for it there. Anyways they are announcing it tomorrow in Germany, who knows if its a success maybe it will make it here.

LiquidTurbo 10-10-2012 06:51 PM

4" is not bad. It is definitely seems like more of a sweet spot than 3.5" was. It's definitely the best iPhone to date.
