if it only cost you $62 to unlock with your carrier..

that's a no brainer..

this way you don't have to waste time when the next iOS update releases.. also better resale value for unlocked iPhones..

just cancel it and unlock through you carrier..

I just updated to iOS 6.0.1 since Google released their maps app for iOS yesterday, and now my SIM adapter no longer works, rendering my phone useless of its phone capabilities until I find a new method to make the SIM work.

I could:

A. call Fido and get them to cancel my 2-year agreement and pay the cancellation fees (around $12), get them to unlock my phone through IMEI method for $50, and get them to re-apply the exact same plan, so a total of around $62.

OR

B. Go back to the store I purchased my SIM adapter/got my iPhone unlocked and ask if they have Gevey's Ultra S in-stock and use the SIM adapter method again for around ~$20 though it is not guaranteed to allow MMS

Not really keen on jailbreaking my phone, I'm too lazy to be bothered by it. I've jailbroken my iPad and my numerous iPod Touches, I don't see a point in jailbreaking my iPhone.

EDIT: Anyone know if the Gevey Ultra S is currently the only turbo SIM that works on iOS 6 for the iPhone 4S?

My iPhone 4S will most likely be gone before the next iOS comes out :lawl: Might trade it in for a 5, a Windows Phone, or join the dark side in the Nexus 4 thread :fullofwin:

Since Google Maps is released, the iPhone 5 is now back on my list of next phones to get.

my phone is complete now :)

got it that night it came out.

Can't wait for iPhone 5 jail break to come out. That way, it can be hacked so that google maps is default mapping client.

Found a little thing that helped a bit with battery life. Turn off everything under spotlight search. I had this disabled in my iPhone 4 but I was surprised to see it enabled Again on the iPhone 5 despite a restore from iCloud.

So I have my first issue with my phone. Yesterday I found out when I make a call or someone calls in I can't hear shit. I put it on speak and I can hear them fine but when I take it off I can't hear shit. I didn't drop my phone at all and I even have a lifeproof case on it.

I took it out of the case and still same issue, any ideas at all? I'm so fucken confused about it.

scoobyej20 12-17-2012 12:45 PM

Your phone could be water damaged..

Take it to the Apple store and see if they can fix it.. If not, they'll give you a replacement on the spot..

Good luck

how could it be water damaged when it never got wet? lol

RESN 12-17-2012 02:16 PM

Murdoc I had the same thing happen to my 5 the other day where 5 minutes ago it was working perfectly, and the next call I receive I can barely hear the callers voice. Its turned all the way up, not on silent, etc etc. I thought it might've been because I was out in the rain smoking a joint and it got water damaged from a few droplets but a few calls later and its back to normal. weird.

Hondaracer 12-17-2012 02:20 PM

I'm on my 2nd 5 already murdoc my speaker bit the dust and I didn't even notice, no water damage, drops, nothing, just make an appt online at your closest apple store and they'll give you a new pne

Just be aware that water damage is not covered in your one year warranty..

If the water damage trigger has turned pink (chemical reaction due to water damage), then Apple would deny your warranty and you would have to pay for a replacement..

Some Genius' are nice and will replace it for you though.. Good luck

Bought the teambuy deal for lightning cable and adaptor for $15

TeamBuy.ca | $15 for a 3FT 8-Pin to USB Cable and 30-Pin to 8-Pin Adapter for iPhone 5 - Tax & Shipping Included ($40 Value)

The picture looks genuine, but of course ends up being the fake shit and crap quality. Ordered it during the buy which I think was the first week of October. Received it yesterday.

Teambuy blows.

thats why I have the lifeproof case so I don't have to worry about it ;)

Took it to Apple and right away the guy said he would give me a new one. With my luck they didn't have any white 64gbs so I have to wait until after Xmas to get it. Great no real useable phone over the holidays :(

Was having trouble with my GNex today. Got me thinking about how if anything happened to my phone it would take forever to get it back to google/fixed (especially since they've lost my trust with the Nex 4 release).

Sigh, maybe time to head back to the iOS camp. I was looking at craigslist and is it true that Rogers/Fido phones work on both carriers without unlocking?

Hondaracer 12-20-2012 08:32 AM

No don't think so

I am in a weird situation right now. I switched over from a 4S to a Galaxy S3 about a month ago and realized a lot of people that has an iphone are still sending me thru iMessage...I wiped the iPhone already, went to 2 different Genius Bar and they had no clue what's going on, one guy told me to change the password which I did and it's still happening.

Anyone know the solution? I am missing a lot of texts and some ppl are getting angry at me for not replying lol.

Yes. You forgot to turn off iMessage in settings before switching to another phone so the apple servers still think your account is on iMessage.

It's a very stupid flaw that apple missed. What you need to do is get a hold of an iPhone, put ur sim in and everything and turn it off.

Wiping it is only for data stored in the phone. Turning iMessage off / on in the setting is a server side option that happens to be located in your phone. You are lucky because if you have sold your iPhone or someone else is using it in another account. That person would see every single iMessage you send / receive.
