Trade deadline coming up. Wonder if Petey will get moved? Hockey guy states Canucks offered 12M for 8 years. And Petey didn't accept or decline. |
[Dhaliwal on Donnie and Dhali] Canucks aren’t getting any indication from Pettersson that he wants to be here long-term. There’s frustration there. I have no intel he wants out. Up until now I always thought EP would re-sign but I’m not so sure now. |
He’s playing such a risky game He’s been incredibly streaky and as I said before, Miller is more of a driver in this team If he holds out and then shits the bed in the playoffs, that offer isn’t likely to stand |
I don't know how much is chaff and how much is real... but as the saying goes where there's smoke there's fire... I'm getting a bit fed up with all the media reports over the years about what Petey is happy or unhappy about... dude seems to be such a moody bitch sometimes. I'm going to be hella pissed if he continues to ignore the reality of this situation and then bounces after this year and never gave the Canucks an opportunity to move him. That's fucked up, fan base would never forgive him. |
He’s still an RFA next year isn’t he |
Yah you're right, I guess he can't exactly "walk"... but if he says he doesn't wanna play here anymore in the off season the Canucks become a bigtime cuckold to every other team They got a lot riding on this... I'm pretty sure part of the thinking in taking Lindholm off of the Flames was also to cut Kuz's salary for next year... they may have no intention of keeping Lindhom at all past this season, but he gave them a way to improve their offence/defence for this eason and cut $6M from the salary cap next year at the same time. They only need to do that because of Petey's upcoming salary. |
The Official 2023/2024 Canucks & NHL Thread That video clip of Donnie and Rick mentions that it is "national media" saying that Petey may not want to sign long term with the team. I wonder what "national media" person got this inside information about Petey. You know that the local Vancouver media will keep asking Petey next season if he doesn't sign a long term deal with the team during this summer, the offseason. Like what Rick says in that clip, a hockey mad market like Vancouver has the reporters mainly focussed on the Canucks. Petey and his agent should make up their mind about what they want in the offseason. Maybe he's looking at the team's playoff performance this season before a making a decision about signing a new contract? |
This is the time sports fans and sports media start to get impatient, and if a guy doesn't sign when they want him to, it automatically means there's a bunch of drama and he's probably leaving Just wait it out.. He's going to take his time if it means he can make more money. Unless you know there's a deadline and it has past, there's no reason to react at all. If that's this offseason, wait until then. If he's an RFA and it's the end of next season, wait until then. For now, just ignore the media, they have to talk shit to have a reason for people to listen to them. |
At this point I don't care if he walks, all I know is the Canucks will get a kings ransom for him. Prob one of the biggest trade packages we have seen in the last decade plus. |
Bedard plz request trade home :derp: |
everything we're hearing right now is just NOISE. rumors and speculation. this is exactly why people dislike/hate the media here and why playing in a canadian market is undesirable to some players. nothing needs to happen right now for Petey's next contract. he's an RFA next year and can't go anywhere yet anyways. so why get so riled up about it? just because it bothers you personally? or is it constantly brought up because it fuels clicks/views for the media? i'd rather he focus his efforts on what the team will do heading into the playoffs. he has done nothing but prove he is a big time player and an extremely valuable asset to the team. yet he is constantly blasted with the what-have-you-done-for-me-lately attitude by fans and media alike. same thing happened with the sedins during their time (and worse). all it does is drive players away and fuel hatred/resentment out of nothing. |

HOCKEY GOD Legit goosebumps watching this (not sure when the game was, it was my first time seeing this goal) |
i just find it incredible that all it takes is one stick lift or poke at the puck and that play would have been over, yet you can see the moment where mcdavid decides to go in with full confidence that he can thread through 4 players to get to the net. |

Here's my favourite McDavid goal: The way he looks right, suggesting pass, then blows by Reilly the moment the defenseman does a crossover with his right skate is incredible. Nugent-Hopkins' pass to McDavid is pretty nice too... |

Guys like that have a whole library of moves and that's what makes McDavid a god. They try to stick lift him because he throws the bait looking for a lift but he already anticipated the lift as a way of making more room for himself with the defender's stick gone. You almost gotta play 5D defence. Throw him off by doing nothing :lawl: |
Miller has been effective in playing McDavid this season really the only way you can be, by preventing him from even getting the puck lol |
Bains on the PP with Petey and Huggy damn pretty crazy opportunity the kid is getting |
hopefully it sparks something positive! 5v5 play looks good so far tonight  |
That was a very impressive shorthanded goal by Miller. |
came at an excellent time! pk was looking a bit shaky. |
