He’s not even in sight of Crosby's career at this point. And given how hard it is to win these days, I’d say it’s fairly unlikely he ever comes close to the career Sid has had. Sid’s career is what fairy tales are written about

Sid is legendary

McDavid is a different category of superstar though

spoon.ek9 03-30-2024 08:36 PM

just scoped out presale prices with rogers code. lowest price available right now is $630 in the lower bowl lol. nothing in upper bowl was listed as available. not sure if that's because they're already sold out or holding out until monday 10am.

MarkyMark 03-30-2024 08:47 PM

Crosby is the definition of living up to the hype, he's won everything plus the golden goal on home soil I don't think McDavid can match him when it comes to accomplishments. Talent wise McDavid is next gen for sure, hopefully he doesn't go down as the best player ever to never win a cup though.

HonestTea 03-31-2024 12:50 PM

Geez what a nice goal from Dakota!

SkinnyPupp 03-31-2024 02:05 PM

Damn early game! At least I get to catch the last 2 minutes of (maybe) a win :alonehappy:

Hondaracer 03-31-2024 02:08 PM

Joshua is the type of player that could be an X factor if he can get that line going back to how they were prior to his injury.

If that line gets going again it takes a lot of pressure off the top line and maybe they can get going again

mb_ 03-31-2024 02:09 PM

DAK with 2 goals!! Unsung hero for this season for sure

2PPG in the same game, hopefully they can get that rolling into the playoffs

pastarocket 03-31-2024 03:44 PM

Joshua is a big help for the PP.

I really hope that Allvin can sign this player in the offseason. He is a great player to have with his size, physical play, and scoring ability.

Canucks have a few players going into UFA status where the Canucks are kind of responsible for their progression and stature in the league, like Joshua

Would be nice to see some of them show a bit of loyalty and take a bit of a discount even if it meant signing a longer term deal. However, I wouldn’t fault Joshua for leaving and taking big money elsewhere. A guy like him might only get one chance and it could be the difference between 10 and 20 million over the course of his career

bobbinka 03-31-2024 05:31 PM

Joshua was not cracking the lineup prior to Canucks. As effective as he has been for us, by the end of the season he'll have 30~ points in 60~ games. He had 23 points last season and 9 points in the 2 years before that combined. He's also 28 soon.

His production at its best is similar to Blueger and Suter, who we signed for $1.9mil and $1.6mil. I don't see any team giving him a multi-year $4mil/yr contract. So, realistically, the number will be between $2 mil to $3mil.

I think it'll be a $2mil x 2 yr deal (or $2.5mil x 1 yr) for him to continue to play with the best players in the league, to prove that the year wasn't a fluke. He's thriving with Tocchet's system and the players here, I can see him staying. If he goes elsewhere, that might be his last contract ever if they don't play him the same way.

Hondaracer 03-31-2024 07:38 PM

No way.

He will get easy 3.5-4 x 3-4 from another team, no problem.

The win for the Canucks would be somthing like 3x4 for him. Which would be him actively taking a discount to stay with the Canucks.

bobbinka 03-31-2024 08:40 PM

if he's getting 3.5-4 from us, they better ship out Mik to make room

AzNightmare 03-31-2024 09:35 PM

Extremely concerning this top team was barely able to beat a tired bottom dwelling team.
And it took a bottom 6 forward to show up to make it happen.

News is saying Hronek turned down $6.5M a year, wants 8+... he can fuck off at that price, 45pts is replaceable.

teggy604 03-31-2024 11:59 PM

If anything, probably 7-8M. If he can get 8M+ from another team, he should go for it.

I don't have a vast database off the top of my head, but not sure which right hand shot dman will be available in the offseason to replace Hronek.

Free agent news more like it.... i wouldn't be happy about missing out on 6.5m on my ass waiting for good news after i shot myself in the foot.

performance = more pay... he isn't him.

punkwax 04-01-2024 07:04 AM

Hronek has a career year playing beside Hughes.. gee, I wonder why.

Good player but he can walk if he thinks he should be paid more than Huggy.

I've been pretty pleased with Juulsen's play, he can replace Myers and if Hronek thinks he's an $8M man without realizing Hughes made him that way, I'm happy to turn around and sign Tanev to replace him as a RHD.

Hronek's offesnsive sizzle has died down significantly too and Tanev doesn't have the offense, but he's probably better defensively and would be less than half the price plus Hughes loves the guy. Could probably save at least $10M going this route... and even if Tanny can only play a couple more years we've got the other Elias Pettersson in development now Or hopefully Wallinder progresses nicely... and I'm sure some other options will come available.

spoon.ek9 04-01-2024 07:28 AM

Yeah, as much as I like Hronek he absolutely should not be making more than QH. Even paying him between 7-8M is an overpayment. His assist last night was his first point in weeks. Good defenseman but he doesn't have the stats to backup that kind of a payday.

spoon.ek9 04-01-2024 09:26 AM

got me a ticket to game 1! $487.50 lol

at least i'm in a good seat though. Section 310 near centre ice!

Hondaracer 04-01-2024 12:07 PM

Yea the prices were crazy but they obviously saw the opportunity to charge out the ass given the rise in popularity given the turn around season

Can only imagine what deeper rounds would cost

spoon.ek9 04-01-2024 01:03 PM

most expensive ticket i saw was $1200+

i remember hearing back in the day 2010 gold medal game some people paid $10K

so, sky's the limit if we go far....

Is that face value for nose bleeds?
