Lakers are at their best when they play like this. they ran the offense through the post and had good ball movement. enough of the stupid kobe pick and rolls where kobe just takes tough shots time and time again. I was glad that kobe and phil stopped the pick and roll after it failed to work 3 or so possessions in a row in the 4th. kobe only had 13 shots today and the lakers had great overall production from everyone. their defense, rebounding and energy were great too. now they have to put forth the same effort, defense and execution for game 6 in denver.

I hope LBJ gets some help from his teammates. he can't do it all himself. he's put up the numbers in every game, but one man can only do so much. plus the magic have a lot of good match ups that favor them. if they make their 3s like they've been doing, it'll be tough for Cleveland to pull this out. but you never know, you live by the 3 you die by the 3, we'll see if Cleveland is destined for the finals. I still want to see the Lakers vs Cavs in the finals, but first and foremost LAKERS!!

I'd also like to point out that tonight's game was one of the few games they let the players play. They didn't call technical fouls so quickly and didn't give any unnecessary flagrant fouls. refs did a good job controlling tonight's game:thumbsup:

Lakers played a beautiful game throughout. Before the tip, the cameras showed Kobe, Pau and Fisher and the look in their eyes was full of determination, hunger and focus of getting the job done, which I hadn't seen before. It's a good sight to see and was present for the 48 minutes. I was glad to see great offensive execution as well, taking what the Nuggets gave them and not forcing anything for the most part. The amount of patience and trust the players showed in the triangle was great. Ariza got off to a good start, Pau, Odom, Walton, Brown and the rest of the players that played gave them good, productive minutes. With the Lakers, playing at this caliber, they are going to be unstoppable.

I agree with Lakers in 5 as well especially with the way they're playing. As long as the Lakers can contain Dwight in the post without having to double team him and leaving Orlando's shooters open for shots, then I don't see the Magic causing the Lakers too many problems. They haven't proved that they can hit contested 3's over and over again and sooner or later Orlando is going to die by the 3 just as they've been living by it to get to this point.
If Phil decides to start Bynum and Gasol in the front court it'll still be alright since they can exploit their size advantage on offense at the beginning of the game to impose their will and Odom can provide the spark off the bench. Odom will still play more minutes towards the end of the game anyway so starting Bynum won't be a big problem at all.

I prefer the Gasol then Bynum because if Howard gets his rest, put it Bynum and we'll have the advantage on the post against their backup center which is Vortag or whatever lol..Bynum is my 2nd favorite player from the lakers but right now, he isn't playing great so off the bench makes more sense to me anyway.

yea we can live with Dwight getting the majority of the shots as long as they're not all dunks. foul him if it's going to be an easy 2 and make him earn it at the line. a lot of fouls can be spared on Dwight. letting him go one on one will negate the Magic's ability to shoot the kickout 3s they've been living by. i held my breathe when i saw the back pick set on kobe and saw courtney lee have a great chance at winning it for the magic. pau might have made him rush it a little too coming over to contest the shot. just the thought of pau coming over with his long reach may have altered lee's shot or at least made him think. if that was rashard or hedo or dwight, this series could've well been tied 1-1, but the shot didn't go in so it's now 2-0 lakers.

the magic were bound to have a night where they shot lights out, but you can't do that for consecutive games. the magic shot 70% at the half and only led by 5 and had to shoot 62.5% the entire game (NBA Finals history for FG%) just to squeak by and win by 4. and even then the lakers had their chances. i don't see the magic shooting like this to win 3 more games, especially if the lakers execute on both ends of the court. Lakers will make their adjustments and win it

Wasn't their mid-level exception used to sign Jarret Jack? Chances of A.I. coming in to T.O. is really low. With Calderon and Jack and Ukic, the Raps already have their PG's in line. It's kind of unfortunate how A.I.'s career is going down the drain, but I think he can have success if he begins to realize he just isn't that explosive scoring threat as he once was. Oh and he'll more than likely have to accept the role of 6th man.

Haha reminds you of the Canucks during this years postseason when they tried that defensive approach and ended up losing the game (and eventually the series)! I've been watching the Raptors for at least 6 years or so now, and I mean the excitement level will never be like that of the Phoenix Suns (but then again, no team is that fun to watch). A huge problem with the Raptors is that they've always failed to have that guy who could step it up in the final minutes to finish the game for them, cause boring as they may seem to be, a lot of the Raptors games are always closely contested.

Yeah, thats my early season prediction as well. I think the Lakers are almost a shoe-in to make it back to the Finals, seeing as how no one else in the West made any huge dramatic changes that can make them contend with the Lakers. And as for the Celtics, they added a real presence in 'Sheed, and as long as K.G. recovers from his knee injury, they'll be a force to be reckoned with in the East!

I personally think getting AI is a bad move for the Grizz. Yes he might boost the ticket sales a bit more and he was signed for cheap all because it was Heisley running the show. So basically it points to him being a cheap ass and just wants to reap the rewards of ticket sales while paying minimal for a still-impact player simply because no other contender wanted AI's ego.
