Honestly, its already an accomplishment for the raptors to make it out of the first goal and not get sweep in the second round. With the way they are choking on key moments, im still not convinced it this rap core has the "it" factor that the truth mentioned about.

I want the raps to win, but I think miami in 6 or 7

What is encouraging for the Raptors is the improving play of Valenciunas. JV elevated his game in the fourth quarter and OT to score some big buckets to help seal the victory. Haslem cannot guard JV given the size advantage that he has on the Miami vet.

It is a good thing that Dragic is a lousy defender. That is why that ISO play that Casey ran for Lowry for the 3 pointer worked. :lawl:

I pick the Raptors in 7.

On a positive note, Raps showing they are still capable of winning with their 2 all stars playing like absolute DOG SHIT (historically the 2 worst postseason shooters). If/when they start clicking again, it's over for Miami. I'm praying at least Lowry gets out of his slump

Lowry is on a 9 game slump since game 1 vs Indy, even last game they won but he shot under 30%. Waiting for him to "breakout" is stressful lol. 1 breakout game out of 10 from your best player is a recipe for disaster.

Random thought.

Imagine an NBA team getting the same picks as the Oilers, they would have a roster of:
Connor McDavid, 2015 1st overall - Karl-Anthony Towns
Leon Draisaitl, 2014 3rd overall - Joel Embiid
Darnell Nurse, 2013 7th overall - Ben McLemore
Nail Yakupov and Mitch Moroz, 2012 1st and 32nd overall - Anthony Davis and possibly Draymond Green as he was 35th pick.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Oscar Klefbom, 2011 1st & 19th - Kyrie Irving & Tobias Harris (Deep draft even All-stars Jimmy Butler and Isaiah Thomas were still on the board)
Taylor Hall, 2010 1st overall - John Wall
Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson, 2009 10th overall - Brandon Jennings
Jordan Eberle, - 2008 22nd - Courtney Lee

How is it possible to be a 2nd worst team in the league with a roster of:
PG: Wall, Irving
SG: Lee, Jennings
SF: Harris, McLemore
PF: Towns
C: Davis, Embiid (assuming he's not the next Greg Oden)

That's literally a title contending team lol.

Miami also lost a player with their shot blocker Whiteside out with a lower body injury. Both teams are hurting without a key player. :considered:

If DeRozan and Lowry can both get their shit together and play well at the same time for the rest of the series, then the Raptors still have a chance to beat the Heat.

Tough overtime loss for the Raps. Why the heck did coach Casey put Patterson late in the game instead of Byombo? Patterson isn't a strong rebounder. Bismack was taking care of "Bisness" pretty well in the game. The team went too small with the players on the floor.

Because they wanted to go small and spread the floor for shots. Except the raptors started choking and nothing was going in and all they ended up playing iso and threw bricks when it counted.
Should have kept Bismack in defense purposes.

Raps aren't going to win when DeRozan and Lowry go 6-28 from the field. All stars need to play like all stars in the playoffs too.

DeRozan mentions wanting to be a max contract guy and then doesn't see the floor for most of the 4th and stinks it up when he comes back in; no thanks, Demar, not even close.

Dwayne Casey is very frustrating to watch. 3 times now the Raps had last possession to win the game, 10+ seconds on the clock and a full time out.
What does he do?
"Here (player) just dribble up the court and chuck it towards the net"

That only makes sense if you have a Jordan/Kobe/Durant on the team. Not a struggling Lowry, DeBrick and Cory Joseph.

The conspiracy theorist in me believes that, as a business, the nba will always attempt to get the "money" teams through the playoffs. I would assume that more people would want a Thunder/GS series than a Spurs/GS series since Westbrook and KD are flashier; this makes the league more money. And OKC has had some ridiculous calls made for them/not called against them since the playoffs started.

But the scary part for us is, from the Raps/Heat series, it's the Heat that make way more $ for the league  Makes the phantom foul on Wade in the final minute make a little more sense.

i think you misread information, it's actually 4 blown calls against the spurs in 2 games, 3 blown calls were actually against the thunder. so, we can argue about blown calls all we want, but in the end they balance themselves out for both teams. the spurs did not hit their free throws or shots at the end of the game (esp tony parker), so they lost. the end.

DeRozan has to be one of the most skilled players in the league..... cause he consistently chooses to take the most difficult, off balance, hand in your face, turn-around fadeaway jumpers

You DO realize being down 3 and being down 4 is a HUGE difference right? It turns a 1 possession game into a 2 possession game with 6 seconds left.
Not even factoring the whole mental aspect of it. Being down 3 you can take a regular shot whereas with 4 points you HAVE to try and draw contact while taking a 3pt shot which is significantly more difficult.

Game 2, true they did get the ball back through a steal but one would like to think if the elbow was called there would be time for one of the greatest minds in basketball (Poppovich) to draw up a set play rather than the wild sequence of Ginobili tossing it to Patty for the rushed 3 when only down 1.

Anyways Spurs getting blown out. Sadness. This might be The Legendary Duncan's last game. :(

I am also cheering for the Raptors but the Cavs are just too strong, and so well rested for the Eastern conference finals.

If DeRozan and Lowry can perform consistently, they should be able to get their buckets because Cavs are not that strong defensively compared to the Heat and Pacers.

Who's gonna play defence on the Cavs besides LeBron? Kyrie?? :fuckthatshit:
Maybe Tristan Thompson?

It comes down to defense, especially some of the matchups like Carroll vs. LeBron.

I think the Raps will put more pressure on Cleveland's 3 point shooters than ATL. They're not gonna raining 3's against Toronto like in the series vs. Atlanta.

Raps gotta do a better job of grabbing offensive rebounds to have a legit chance of pulling off a huge upset. Bismack Byombo has to put the smackdown in the paint and grab that ball. Patterson, T. Ross, and Corey Joseph need to step up their game.

I love it when Byombo does that Usain Bolt pose after he makes a big dunk on the opposing team. :lawl:

Does anyone also notice that the TV scheduling for the conference finals games is strange?

GS and OKC played game 2 on Wednesday. Game 3 in OKC is not until this Sunday. Three days off between games 2 and 3 for both teams.

Raptors and Cavs played game 2 on Thursday. However, Game 3 starts on Saturday in Toronto, with only one day between games 2 and 3 for travel and game preparation for both teams.

The NBA really wants that advertising revenue from the higher TV ratings with weekend games eh?

JV suited up but didn't play a single minute. It's gonna be interesting how they are going to utilize him now that BB has stepped up in a big way... will they make JV the catalyst of the 2nd unit?
That actually might make more sense because the starters already have Lowry and Derozan, they should use BB's defense and JV can bring offense off the bench when the all-stars rest.

Biyombo! The defensive/offensive rebounding was huge.
Who would have thought Beastmack would develop into such an important piece of the team? I'll admit I thought he was a waste of a roster slot when Raps picked him up after missing out on the LaMarcus sweepstakes but he has proven to be a defensive anchor and he's still improving.
Now the Raps have a new problem because he has a player option next year and for sure he will opt out to re-sign a much bigger contract. Can the Raps afford to keep him?

Lowry is the greatest Raptor of all time.
Ehh... I dunno about that. He was super lucky the rest of the team scraped out some important wins. Your "best raptor" has only had roughly 5 solid games out of 18 and was hovering the 30 FG% mark for most of the post-season, that doesn't exactly scream GOAT imo. He's a very good player but I'd still take VC ;)

I believe the "Road through the playoffs" is very important!

- Spurs decimated a broken Grizzlies team then lost taking on the dynamic duo of KD and Westbrook.
- Warriors crushed a disinterested and dysfunctional Rockets team, took out Portland that showed tons of heart but just not enough talent to compete.

- GSW are struggling with a battle-tested OKC team riding high off beating the 67-win Spurs.

- Raptors struggled but persevered through 2 grueling 7-game series. Well well now they are tied 2-2 against the heavy-favourites Cavs who cruised 9-0 through the playoffs so far.

VC took us to playoffs twice (2001 & 2002) and he sat out vs. Detroit in 2002. Everyone only sees the dunks and thinks he's the greatest Raptor because of it. Sure he brought us into the limelight, but that didn't last very long. VC never played with as much heart as Lowry. Look into what Lowry has achieved during his time here and there is no question that he is the GOAT Raptor.

Dumbass reporter was trying to fish for information in order to put blame on some of the Raptors players for the loss. Doesn't this idiot realize that pro athletes have a different work schedule than many people? Pro athletes want to minimize the amount of hours that they are awake prior to a game.

Blaming a 40 point blow out loss on players going to a casino for some late night fun?? :lawl:

Raptors downplay late-night casino visit by Carroll, Joseph - Sportsnet.ca (http://www.sportsnet.ca/basketball/nba/raptors-downplay-late-night-casino-visit-carroll-joseph/)

The Raptors are playing down a late-night visit to a Cleveland casino by two players on the eve of a blowout loss, saying NBA players have a different schedule than most.

DeMarre Carroll and Cory Joseph were seen in a casino near their hotel just before 2 a.m. Wednesday. Later that day, the Raptors were hammered 116-78 by the Cavaliers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals.

Toronto guard DeMar DeRozan called the fuss about the story crazy, saying he was up until 4 a.m. in his hotel room that night watching "Batman versus Superman: Dawn of Justice."

Raptors coach Dwane Casey says the two players are adults, weren’t drinking and broke no laws.

He says his concern was not the players' late-night walkabout but "getting our butt kicked."

As for the two players in question, they say the story was overblown.

Joseph says he still got plenty of sleep ahead of the game. Carroll says the reporter who wrote the story was "fishing a little bit."

If the Raps force a game 7, they need to somehow solve the Cavalier's defensive adjustments on Lowry. They are double teaming K-Low and making it difficult for him to attack the basket.

Biyombo is being used to guard against the 3 point shooters like JR Smith. No Biyombo in the paint means no rim protection. Easy dunks for LeBron and company.

Raps also need to play lockdown defence on Kyrie and Kevin Love and move the ball up court much faster.

If Valenciunas can play more minutes, he could provide the much needed offence as the third scoring option.

C'mon Raptors, pull out a win in the Six! :gun:

Playoffs is a different animal. It's all about adjustments and matchups.
Steve Kerr did not deserve to win COY. First of all he only came back halfway into the season. A gorilla could have coached them. It was an identical roster from last season.
Terry Stotts definitely should have won, to integrate 4 new starters into their system and still guide the Blazers to a 5th place finish in the West was way more impressive.

Lowry/DeRozan had no help from their entire team, no one besides them scored more than 10 points.

To be fair, without the "team" they wouldn't have even made it out of the 1st round. Lowry and Derozan were downright horrible starting the post-season.
They took 2 games from Cavs which already exceeded my expectations lol.
Patrick Patterson sucks balls, he missed 2 easy layups and many wide open 3's.

pastarocket
05-27-2016, 10:25 PM
The Raps need reliable scoring from the bench if they want to get to the next level of being serious contenders for an NBA championship.

Patterson and T. Ross were shooting bricks for the entire series vs. the Cavs.

They need shooters who can make open shots for 3 pointers. Raps need that secondary scoring in order to give Lowry and DeRozan support.

PiuYi
05-27-2016, 11:46 PM
JV and Ross were so under-utilised for game 6

nobody on Cavs has the size to stop JV, Cavs would need to double every time Raps iso-JV but they never ran that play... would've opened up the court for Lowry/DeRozan or open 3's and not to mention it would have likely gotten Frye in more foul trouble in the second half

Ross played well these playoffs I thought, mixed up his shot and drive well but just didn't get enough touches when DeRozan was on the bench... Raptors as a team need better execution on offence, they're not using their strengths and rely too much on Lowry/DeRozan breaking people down on mismatches

I really hope that Durant decides to sign with another team when he becomes a free agent this summer. He cannot win a NBA championship with a turnover machine like Westbrook as the starting point guard.

Did people notice how angry KD got at one of his team mates during game 7 last night? It was the player who passed up on the open look 3 point shoot. That player decided to pass the ball to another team mate in the near sideline instead. Durant glared at that team mate and yelled at him for not taking the open shot.

Then the camera man showed Durant yelling at someone when he was on the bench. One assistant coach had to talk to KD to calm him down.

The league's salary cap is going up from 67.1 to 89 million for next season. Who knows, maybe KD will sign with the Spurs.

Why are there so many blowout wins in the playoffs this year? Talk about home court advantage. :lawl:

LeBron's tomahawk dunk from Kyrie's alley-oop pass was nasty! That was a very difficult dunk that LeBron made considering he slipped on the floor briefly before gathering enough speed and vertical to make this dunk. :damn:

Exactly. Fuck, Iverson crossed Lue up and broke his ankle, AND then scored. Lebron? He fucking pushed DG when he was trying to fight through the screen, and tried to show him who's boss by walking over DG.

There would be no other way that DG would've reacted, going by his character. However, I'm totally against the flagrant 1. The video showed that DG flailed his arm and hit Lebron from behind. But as many have pointed out, for any guy, if someone or even anything ever slightly graze your balls, your first reaction would be jumping back, holding your balls etc.

That's not how Lebron reacted.

Fuck this shit. I seriously hope Warriors destroy Cavs tomorrow.

What LeBron has done during the playoffs this season is disrespectful. I don't condone Draymond has done with his groin kicking against Adams during the OKC either, but LeBron takes the crown for his antics.

Bron Bron flops after Tristan Thompson pushes him because he thinks he can get a foul call against DeMarre Carroll. Then LeFlop walks over Draymond.

-interesting trade rumours coming out of Chicago. Bulls want to move D. Rose or Jimmy Butler. Of course, D. Rose is their first choice as a trade asset.

T-Wolves are showing interest. Chicago would want Minnesota's fifth overall pick in return:

Derrick Rose Trade Rumors: Latest News, Buzz and Speculation on Bulls Star | Bleacher Report (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2646295-derrick-rose-trade-rumors-latest-news-buzz-and-speculation-on-bulls-star?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=programming-national)

According to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, league sources at the Adidas Eurocamp in Treviso, Italy, "say the Bulls are actively open to moving guard Rose, and that seems to be the first choice rather than shopping [Jimmy] Butler."

Marc Stein and Chad Ford of ESPN reported Monday the Minnesota Timberwolves were interested in moving their fifth overall pick in this year's draft in a trade package to acquire Butler.

But Rose has reportedly been the name mentioned more frequently, per Kyler:

Rose is entering the final year of his deal and has commented numerous times on the ballooning salary cap and his next contract, much to the dismay of the Bulls front office and a large number of Bulls fans. Add that to an on-again, off-again intensity and there is a sense that both sides would welcome a change, especially with Rose entering a free agent year.

At this point, it’s unclear which teams (if anyone) has made a real offer for Rose, especially given his $21.3 million salary. But it was said a few times that the name being talked about most among teams and scouts in Italy was not Butler, but rather Rose and there is a sense that a team that misses on a starting-caliber point guard in free agency may turn to the Bulls.

According to Kyler, the Bulls are thought to have interest in either Wade Baldwin IV or Demetrius Jackson, both point guards, with the No. 14 pick. Stein and Ford also reported "sources say that the Bulls are highly intrigued by Providence guard Kris Dunn," another point guard, though he is expected to be a top-eight pick in this year's draft and likely won't be available at No. 14.

As much as I dislike Green, he shouldn't have got a flagrant on that Lebron tussle. However I think the whole "Needs 4 flagrants to be suspended 1 game" is ridiculous. He should have instantly been suspended for his donkey kick on Adams. It was pretty much on par with these (Undertaker).

Game 6 at 6 tonight any predictions?

Although I am cheering for GSW to repeat as champions, I think the league will do anything within its power to help the Cavs. Watch the refs give early foul calls on Steph and/or Klay in the first half. Bogut is out with an injury for 6 to 8 weeks so there goes most of your shot blocking for the Warriors.

Draymond will be a huge factor in terms of containing LeBron. Draymond better not smack or kick any Cavs player's groins tonight. :troll:

It comes down to Steph and Klay's shooting tonight. GSW's bench players with Shaun Livingston and Harrison Barnes are also factors in tonight's game.

I pick Cavs to win tonight because of the home court advantage. The NBA wants a game 7 because of that additional league revenue from the TV ratings on a Father's Day Sunday. :lawl:
