Miami's roster is shaping up. Still don't think they'll be able to beat the lakeshow but they'll give them some competition. Bron, Wade, Bosh, Big Z, Miller, Haslum, Joel Anthony, Chalmers, Magloire, James Jones all signed so far

^^ Damn, imo that roster can beat LA, especially if Riley goes back to coaching.
They've got the superstars, shooters, and veterans (they're gonna add Juwan Howard too). They just need way better interior defense to match LA but they have Lebron and DWade so I dunno... I think they might actually pull it off.
It's gonna be fun to root against them this year.

a strong point guard who dominates the ball like Chris Paul would never work in a triangle offense of the Lakers, what are yall thinkin .....the triangle doesn't call for a dominant pg at all, just someone who can swing the ball to the weak side.
My hope however for my favorite player of all time Mr CP3 would be that he goes to New York and joins Amare, and Carmelo to go there as well, and lest not forget T-Mac who I think is still on the Knicks roster ?
but yea can you guys imagine the pick and roll game between CP3 and Amare !!! would be fckin nuts!
but I just read today that his top destination is Orlando apparently he has a list of the top teams he wants to be traded too, and Orlando is the most likely possibility because the Hornets would be able to actually get some good players in return, Knicks got nobody to offer.
but yea once again, pick and roll game with CP3 and Dwight Howard, downright fckin scary, and if you guys watched the seasons Paul had with Tyson Chandler and their pick and roll alley oop displays, you gotta expect that D12 will deliver on the oops big time!
he needs to go somewhere where he can average close to 15 assists a game, I got a big bet going that he will end his career as the NBA's all time assist and quite possibly steals leader

thx for link Cloud, and yea no doubt CP3 on the Lakers would be good for Kobe's health, and Bynum would be the recipient of a helluva lot of alley oops, while the pick and roll game CP3 could play with Gasol !! picture that !
but CP3 on the Lakers, he wouldnt be handling the ball much as he should cuz the triangle is the triangle at the end of the day, and Kobe is Kobe at the end of the day as well, and the man gets his touches like Jordan did.
I need my main man CP3 to go somewhere where he can truly run the team without anyone else to share that responsibility with. I need him to go down in history as the all time assists leader :D
I wish he would go to New York and Carmelo would join him, then him Amare, and Melo even McGrady would rip it up, if that happened... I swear this will be the most anticipated NBA season I will have ever looked forward too.

CP3 can't fit in the Lakers, that's not just my opinion, it's the opinion of all the sports writing journalists speaking on the subject. Once again triangle triangle triangle.
And we've all seen what Amare and Steve Nash are capable of playing together... well CP3 is the spitting image of Steve Nash minus the jumpshot, so yea Knicks would be a much better fit for him but it doesn't look like that's happening either. Because as I pointed out earlier, they have nobody good enough to give up for a trade, the Magic do however, so his destination is gonna be most likely Orlando. I still prefer him going to the Knicks though, I miss the 90's when the Knicks were dominant, nothing like the Mecca of basketball MSG baby ! it would be very fun to see them rise up to the top ranks in the east division again
He's meeting with the new Hornets team owner tomorrow (monday) so we will know Tuesday maybe midweek at the latest for sure where he's going exactly. The new owner has money, but he still hasn't done shit to improve NO's situation, he needs to surround his point guard and face of the franchise with talent, that's what the offseason is all about, making moves.... but so far with all his money, he's done jack shit... which does one thing, it shows CP3 and the rest of the basketball world that he's not serious about making the Hornets a contender, and if you guys know CP3 like I know him and how competitive he is, there is no fuckin way he wants to spend another non playoff bound season with a shitty team. I guarantee you right now he's got all his people working overtime to get him out of his last 2 years, and trade him out of Orleans
And Mugen, at Carmelos wedding a short while ago CP3 came up and made a toast, something along the lines of making their own Big 3 in NYC (meaning him, Melo and Amare) maybe he was doing it to joke around in front of Lebron cuz he was also present at the wedding, or whether he was serious... we're about to find out next week

and yea all T-Mac is gonna do for the Bulls is come off the bench to give D-Rose a rest and run PG, he's very good at creating plays and has always has had a low turnover rate. They won't be utilizing McGrady as an offensive weapon since nobody in the league believes he can score like he used too anymore. I still have some hope for him as a scorer though, I would love to see him average 10-15 ppg this year. But I doubt they would be running any set plays for him offensively, all the points he gets will be from his own creation most likely.
I feel bad for him man, all the shit he did for Houston all that emotion and hard work, and then he comes back wants to play and they tell him to go sit his ass on the bench... fckin sad to see

yeah i hope the lakers make this trade, this opportunity is too good to pass up and too intriguing. it's hard to say whether chris paul will fit in or not...yes the lakers use the triangle offence but not all the time, they used kobe's offence too haha which is just give kobe the ball and let him do his thing. they can do the same thing with chris paul which is let him do his thing and do his awesome floater/layups in the lane or setup other ppl. this will enable kobe to 'rest' for some possessions which will be beneficial to his health for playoffs obviously. also i'm sure for a player of chris paul's caliber, he's going to be able to adapt and play within the system and phil jackson's going to make some tweaks of the triangle to run some plays for chris paul. anyways, enough essay writing! heheh

Man escorted out of park after hundreds of fans boo, chant obscenities
CLEVELAND - A fan wearing a Miami Heat jersey of LeBron James drew the ire of the crowd at a Cleveland Indians game and was escorted out of the ballpark.
Fans in the left-field bleachers chanted obscenities and pointed at the man Wednesday night during the sixth inning of the game between the Indians and New York Yankees. Hundreds of fans joined in before security led the man out of Progressive Field.
As he left, some fans followed him toward the gate with more derisive chants.

James' recent departure from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Heat caused a lot of anger in the city.
Many fans were near the left-field foul pole in hopes of catching the 600th home run ball by Alex Rodriguez.

Lorenzen Wright died at 34 leaving behind 6 childrens.
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gameon/post/2010/07/lorenzen-wright-memphis-nba-dead-34/1
The city of Memphis remains stunned and saddened today as police investigate the death of Lorenzen Wright, whose body was discovered yesterday. There also were tributes and shared memories of the 13-year NBA veteran, who at the age of 34 leaves behind six children.
Memphis Commercial-Appeal columnist Geoff Caulkins writes that Wright had weathered two family tragedies. His father Herb was paralyzed by a gunshot while breaking up a fight at a community center in Memphis, and coached his son from a wheelchair. And Lorenzen's daughter Sierra died suddenly at the age of 11 months, from natural causes.
Said Grizzlies ownerMichael Heisley:
"Lorenzen never backed down from any challenge given him, whether it was guarding Shaq or anyone else. He was a team player, a great locker room guy. There was never an instance that I talked to him when he wasn't positive.
"I am heartbroken. I'm sure there are a lot of people in Memphis who are very, very sad. He was a good man who had his share of tough times, and I've got to believe he's in a better place."
In Washington, D.C., Rep. Steve Cohen paid tribute to Wright on the House floor. In Cleveland, Wright's last NBA stop, Cavs general manager Chris Grant remembered Wright as "a vibrant, friendly, caring, young human being."

i was gonna go as far as saying he put his career on the line in the finals against boston.. but thats kinda pushing it
doctors told him NOT to play though i think he was cleared but told not to for his own good. his leg was swollen and every time he leaped for a rebound of ran across the court you could see the pain on his face. he deserves better than getting traded after his efforts. everybody knows that without bynum's size in the middle, the lakers would of not won the ring..

Tyreke Evans had himself quite a week
Tyreke Evans had a need. A need for highly illegal speed (with no regard for passing lanes).
Sun Aug 01,2010 9:05 AM ET By Matt Moore
It always looks worse on video than it does on paper.
Tyreke Evans got tagged in May for driving 120 miles-an-hour in a non-120-miles-an-hour zone. He was briefly arrested then released. Last week he plead guilty to reckless driving and was sentenced to probation. A slap on the wrist really. So the story went away...
Until the Sacramento Police released video of his little joyride last Friday.
The video is actually relatively scary. Seeing Evans drifting in and out of lanes across the highway at that speed with other traffic does not paint the kind of "harmless joyride" picture the report did. Additionally scary is the end of the tape which shows Evans at gunpoint by the arresting officer who was just following procedure.
Anyway, if you're interested in such things, here's the video.

I haven't looked forward to an NBA season like this since way back when Iverson, Marbury and the rest of that gang got drafted back in 96... I actually went to watch that draft at GM place on the big screen, lol still got the draft pamphlet too
2003 got me pretty excited since experts say it's supposed to be the best draft class of all time, but nah IMO the best draft class eva was 1996 !
Iverson, Abdur-Rahim, Marbury, Kobe, Steve Nash, Ray Allen, and gamblin ass Antoine Walker was sick with the shake shimmy

Chalk another fan looking forward to this upcoming season...
I think a lot of people will say the Lakers are the favourites because it seems it will be easier to come out of the west than the east and they have added some defensive depth....although my hearts not with the Lakers...I'm putting money on them.
People will say the Celtics are another year older so they may not have what it takes....
but signing Shaq will help a bit...they are beast in the front court.
so many great storylines for next season...I am looking forward to Bulls games, as they have so many young athletic guys...should set a good pace most nights.
East is beast with Celts, Bulls, Heat.
Can't wait.
NBA has become a two tier league...with haves and have nots...small markets can't compete.

As for Shaq signing.... I HATE the Celtics as you probably can tell by my posts but the signing makes a LOT of sense for them... They aren't a "Run and Gun" team so Shaq fits in well IMO... and I think the Celtics can beat the Heat. I still can't believe they got rid of Tony Allen though. ..lol.. oh well

Middle of last season, I always thought if Denver and LA met in the west finals. Denver would somehow came up on top. Unfortunely, George Karl :(
I think the 4 best teams in the west are:
1. Lakers
2. and 3. I 'd say Dallas or OKC ( I really like this team behind LA!)
4. Rockets. With Yao back, this team looks dangerous on paper !
Denver will have to surpise me this year! Same goes for phx

Smush Parker(notes) hasn't been in the NBA since 2007-08 when he played for the Los Angeles Clippers. Since then, he's been playing with the Guangdong Southern Tigers Hongyuan of the Chinese Basketball Association. He helped bring home two championships for the Tigers over the last two seasons.
But now he wants to be back into the NBA, according to the New York Post.
"It's about playing at the top level of basketball that there is," the 29-year-old told the paper. "I feel like I can play at that level and I've proven myself. It's just about trying to get back."
In his five seasons in the NBA, the point guard averaged nine points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists while playing for six different teams.

the basketball career of Tracy Mcgrady is really sad, especially now with him moving on and signing with Detriot. When he was in NY, at least he was playing in the best stadium and big market, but now Detriot? a bottom feeder easter team, that is really sad.
T Mac arguably one of the most talented players back in the early 2000's, 2x scoring leader, 60 points in one game, 2x all NBA, but he'll always be remembered as a dude that never got out of the first round of the playoffs.
I use to love watching Tmac and Vince, but their ego's got in each others way, too bad they decided to split. I bet both of their careers and achievements would of so much different if they learned to play together, what a pity.

reason why Vince said he wasn't gonna dunk anymore was he didn't want ppl to think of him exclusively as a dunker. He wanted to be known as a more complete player, a player that can hit the 18ft jump shot, a player that can run behind screens, someone that can find the open man, someone that can take over the game in the final two minutes.
Even when the dude was in his late years with New Jersey, the dude can still get up and dunk if he wanted to, his dunks were amazing to watch, unfortunately when his career passes, what he didn't want us to think of him is exactly what he'll be remembered for. He'll always be known first as a great dunker, could be considered one of the best dunkers of all time, sadly he'll also be remembered as a bitch for faking injuries, sulking, bad teammate in the locker room.

fck they need to play Steph Curry more.. I know D Rose is probably the best 1 on 1 player in the league, and he really saved their butts the last 2 possessions in the Spain game where he basically won the game for the US, but he not a true point guard at all and Coach K is trying to mold him into a PG throughout this very short tourney... this isn't the time for that, it's winnin time Coach !
I don't get some of Coachs decisions, he has 2 true point guards in Chauncey and Steph, rotate them and don't let nobody else bring the ball up, cuz them two is proven solid pass first, set up other players PG's who WILL NOT turn the ball over. And with these two controlling the pace, I guarantee you that they would have no issues with turnovers. Those are their two biggest issues, turnovers and team defense is fairly poor, they tend to rely too much on raw athleticism to defend as opposed to good defensive rotations.
There's an easy fix for the turnovers using the formula I outlined and most of the sports writers have already mentioned as well, but as far as defense, that's a bit more complicated.
The game with Brazil what pissed me off is he kept pushing the same lineup that almost lost to Spain in the friendly, I have a lot of respect for coach K, but fck... if somethin ain't spinnin right, toss a wrench into it and fck up the system.
and I don't like Rondos personality whatsoever (arrogant prick) but he is hands down the best lock down defender by far that they had, and they dumped him.... they could have used him to lock down any opposing team's best player and shut him out the game, yea Rondo is THAT good defensively
Not really racist!
08-31-2010, 09:01 PM
As much as I hate Rondo, he's actually improved A LOT.
His jump shot is still his weakness but he hits it more than he did in the past. I remember in the finals he shot a clutch 3 pointer that kept the game really close in the final two minutes or something

In my opinion Anthony should be up there. Not as a great player as durant this season, but hes been very consistent.

Saying Durant is like James and Bryant is like saying Wade is the best player. Just because Wade had an awesome season back 08-09 does not mean hes the best.

U have a point there, the offseason has made me forget how awful Amare is on D, which is really bad of me cuz I watch a lot of PHX games hahaa. However, the guy is the best finisher (big man - at the rim) in the game, I saw some guy put Bosh up there (in the top 10), and no, Bosh is a glorified third banana who is weird and makes youtube videos that aren't funny.
As for Dwight, ARE YOU SERIOUS? Yes the guy has limited post game, and he free throws are laughable. What about everything else that he does? Let's use Bosh again to compare, dude can't rebound against energy rebounders like Varejao, can't block, doesn't rebound well in general, has at best pick and roll D.......hmm and he's top 10? And Bosh has maybe at best 3 moves offensively....
example: Jab, jab, jab, fake, jab, jab, jab, jumpshot
or
Jab, jab, jab, fake, jab, jab, jab, jumpshot, drive, pull a paul pierce and tries to draw a foul
Thats about it.

some good lists you guys got up, here's my opinions on the question marks on those lists.
Amare has always heavily relied on the point guard and the pick and roll game, he's got a very good offensive skill set but I really look forward to seeing how he's gonna do without the pick and roll skills of a Steve Nash.
Dwight is too uncoordinated on offense, I really REALLY hope he gets to like a young Shaq level on offense I can't tell you guys how much fun I had watching Penny Hardaway and Shaq do work in Orlando. I wanna see something like that again. But on defense however his timing and coordination is down to an art, well... I mean aside from smashing his own teammates when he lands on them, lol... he's already put a few buddies out of actions landing on his own guys after a huge block, I remember when he elbowed Jameer and Courtney comin down off blocks in the same game,
Danny Granger good player, but dude is a straight up volume shooter, that's been his criticism for the last 3 years from the experts too. He needs 30+ shots per game to average around 20+ ppg. The league is filled with guys who could average 25 ppg if they got that many shots per game. There's a reason he got so little playing time on the US world Champion team in Turkey.
When he came back to Indiana after healing from his injury first thing he did was start bitching about how he wasn't getting his typical shots per game, and at the time Indiana was on a winning streak and finally someone on the coaching staff realized hey lets get other guys involved in the offense it might work, and it did.
I don't know how any top 10 list can be made without Steve Nash on there, plus he a local boy ! and this coming from a die hard Chris Paul fan who firmly believes CP3 will go down in history as the all time steal and assist leader. Even with tough competition from D-will and CP3 Stevie boy ripped it up last season as evident by how well the Suns did
oh and as far as homeboy Bosh his offensive prowess is boss! who said he has only a few moves ?? super quick for a big man, got moves like a guard, and he's got a midrange jumper from either elbow and top of the key that's money, and once he gets the ball swung to him and he's on the weak side, it's gonna be a basket or and 1 almost every time. This year his shooting percentage is gonna go through the roof with all the attention on Lebron and Wade, but I do feel they might try to stuff him down on the block and make a full blown rebounder out of him because of his length size and quickness, I feel that would be a waste though.
I think Lebron should run PG and give up about 10 maybe even 15ppg, focus more on defense as well, just so they could really let Wade and Bosh loose. I think that would impress the fans a lot more than him scoring 30ppg this season, and it would mean a lot of forgiveness from all the haters if he really started playing super unselfishly and ran point this year.

Amare's production will probably drop a little, but then again he's with D'antoni again and he will get a lot more possessions and touches. So who knows, and with that line up they are sorta atheletic enough to get in passing lanes and take some charges, provided D'antoni bothers to practice defense
D12 will never have Shaq's post game, if he did, it would be here already. If he's really dedicated to improving his game, why the hell wasn't he in team USA this summer? He's great on D no doubt, just has to stop stupidly swatting balls outta bounds and to his teammates instead ala Russell.

I'd say Lebron at 1st and Bosh maybe top 7?
And Melo to Chi-town, i don't think its going to work around the team. It would be a great 3some party, but they need another man for the low post and a person that would D in Chi-town, i think noah fills in this spot pretty well. No go imo. Denver should add more depth in the front court.
I wouldn't put LeBron at 1st simply because he doesn't have the clutch factor that Kobe does.
Amare
I don't think it's that difficult to be a great finisher when you are running with the best playmaker in the league(Steve Nash).
Dwight
Dwight is GREAT in what he has going for him (Defense), but his offense is lacking quite a bit. There are games when he is only able to put up 4 shots, and that is simply unacceptable from a guy who you would consider to be in the top 10...Shaq, at 100 years old, still shuts him down to this day...You compare Dwight with Bosh, but when the 2 go head-to-head, Bosh does just as much damage as Dwight does. Bosh outdoes Dwight with his quickness and range on one end of the court, whereas Dwight simply overpowers Bosh on the other end....only difference is, I can't really blame Bosh for not being able to contain Dwight because Bosh could simply play the 4-spot instead of the 5 which is where he truly belongs.
I don't know where you come off saying that Bosh has only 3post-moves...About the "jab" thing...It's not his "move" but rather just his way of reading how the defense will respond. A lot of the time it just makes the offense stagnant and, in turn, allows the defense to relax, which in college and high school ball would obviously be a bad thing, but this is the NBA; The NBA game, more often than not, revolves around isolation for star players to "do their thing".
Dirk is just too damn high up there, the guy (more than once now) disappears in big games. He did it again last year in the playoffs, just wasn't there at all in the must win. Plus he's just about to (or has) past his prime.
Ok i totally forgot about Gasol in my Top 10 haha, he should replace Amare. My bad there.
Dirk
I have no idea where you come off saying that he "disappears"...He had a very good showing in last year's post-season and he shot above 50% from the field....Now that he has some decent threats down low in Haywood and Chandler, I think he will shine even more this year.
Gasol
I would put up a very strong arguement that Gasol is the most skilled center in the league. However, what has put him over the top is that he's developed a more physical, aggressive mindset.
some good lists you guys got up, here's my opinions on the question marks on those lists.
Amarehas always heavily relied on the point guard and the pick and roll game, he's got a very good offensive skill set but I really look forward to seeing how he's gonna do without the pick and roll skills of a Steve Nash.
Amare
I wonder if Felton will do anything for Amare. Either way, it's quite the downgrade from a Steve Nash.
Granger
Agreed
Nash
I love Nash, but I just can't put him in my top 10 and the reason being his defense. He gets destroyed in the post-season on the defensive end by the elite point gaurds, particularly Tony Parker. Last post-season was an exception, however Parker was just coming off an injury and was still clearly affected by it. Offensively, however, I would argue that Nash is still the best play-maker in the league till this day.
Amare's production will probably drop a little, but then again he's with D'antoni again and he will get a lot more possessions and touches. So who knows, and with that line up they are sorta atheletic enough to get in passing lanes and take some charges, provided D'antoni bothers to practice defense

Amare
Why would Amare get more posessions in New York than in Phoenix? Since trading Shaq, Phoenix has gone back to the run-and-gun style of play, and thus are at the top of the list along with the GSW for most possessions per game and most points per game.

shit son, what effort in your response.....let's continue our debate lol
I'm not going to go to lengths with Bosh, because between Bosh and Dwight, I mean 99/100 scouts/GMs/NBA people would pick Dwight, besides Bron and KD, hes the third guy you would draft to start a franchise. Not exactly his fault that he gets 4 shots a game sometimes, SVG continues to stress inside out rather than outside in, yet none of their perimeter guys follow that philosophy enough, granted he should be working on his game rather than his dance moves (in the offseason), he shouldn't get all the crap for being what he is right now.
Dirk - 2007 Playoffs, that is all
Amare, lol I don't know why I am so adamant about backing him, since he still drives me crazy sometimes on D. However, since Shaq's departure they have NOT gone back to the identical run and gun style, Gentry reeled them in and developed more of a half court offense. D'antoni would go back to what worked in PHX with Amare, although he will sorely miss Nash, he'll still get his.
Gasol is the best big man in the game.........offensively (but he still gets overlooked)
but dude seriously Bosh is.......we're brainwashed by Raptors TV as to how good he actually is.....he aint great.

I think he will be traded, just not sure to whom.
I hope it's Warriors, and I think they have a decent chance too as they are the only team that wouldn't require Melo to sign an extension. In other words, they are considering trading away assets to get Melo potentially for just one year.
I'm cool with that as long as Curry and Lee are untouched.

yea for some reason the graphics are shit in NBA Elite, but they added the one thing people have been begging for in YEARSSSS!!!
which is a new physics engine ! no more ice skating all over the floor and getting stuck in animations ! this alone wins me over as it's been my biggest reason for selling every copy of Live I've owned after 2 months of playing it.
I could never get into 2K series and the 5 on 5 gameplay the motions of the players was just to awkward for me while controlling them. There was no sense of momentum and it just felt too unreal. That was the buzzkill for me. The only 2K game I actually loved and played lots of was 2K6 with Shaq on the cover, and even that game I never played the full court 5 on 5 games, I just did the quest thing with 1 on 1 play, that was awesome !
EDIT: gotdang just saw the 2K vid of Kobe doin work, wooooowwww, I'm downloading both demos for sure gonna see what it's about, cuz 2K looks much better this year than last, but still gotta test it out see how it feels. And what's the harm in having 2 basketball games anyway, lol

How about Houston? What's Houston's chances of landing Melo? With Rick Adelman's coaching, if they can land melo and have Yao healthy for the playoffs, I can see them giving LA a real good run at the Western Conference Title.

Houston has a killer fckin starting 5, every one of them is "pretty much" a top 5 in the NBA at their position. They need to win 45+ games this season, but I doubt they will
I know they will be playing Yao sparingly during the season at around 20-25 minutes per game, so he "should" be ready to go for the playoffs.

I really don't think u can say that Brooks, Battier, Martin, or Scola are "pretty much" top 5 players in their positions.....The reason the Rockets are so good is because they play almost a college-styled team game with ridiculously good coaching from Rick Adelman.

I hear what you sayin bro, Brooks and Martin are the weak spots definitely, Brooks is super speedy and can drop 30 points on any given night, but he's inconsistent. Martin is hot and cold, he can drop 30 plus one night and have 6 the next.... game long.
but Battier is one of the better small forwards in the league and by far the best defensive forward IN the league. And ya I do think he's better than Artest defensively, Ron relies a bit too much on muscling people his way and lacks foot speed, seen him get shook too many times by bigger slower guys. Battier will cut you off at the perfect angle and make your shots difficult all night long....
And Scola, well I've seen him play plenty of times last season trust me man he's money a legit by the book old school power forward who plays like a center at times. Super smooth never loses his cool down low looks like he knows exactly what he's doing at all times... top scorer in the world championships in Turkey btw.

and you guys are looking at this thing with Carmelo going to the Nets the wrong way. Ok the Nets were horrible last season true...
but look at it the right way.... new city, new arena, and the biggest factor is the new owner that happens to have the deepest pockets in the league right now, that's the key right there. Owner Mikhail Prokhorov has serious money to blow and is willing to basically buy an NBA championship.
Some sports writers are projecting the Nets to win a championship within 5 years.
My own opinion is this year they will win around 40 games probably make it to the playoffs as a 6th or 7th seed, doubt they will go deep in the playoffs but going to the playoffs after a season like last is a huge improvement.
Year after they will add more pieces to the puzzle fix the problems of the upcoming season and it's only gonna get better.
I absolutely understand Melo going to the Nets, as I've been looking at the Nuggets last few seasons as a thorn in the side of the western conference, not a powerhouse like all the sports writers been labeling them, but just a solid team that will always consistently make it deep in the playoffs but always fall short.
I've played on basketball teams with all good players before that never made it anywhere I know how frustrating that is. Something fresh and new is on the menu for Melo, and his boss is baaaaaallin !

While I don't know where this "sports writers predict they will win the champ in 5 years" is from, nor do I agree that the deep pockets of Prokhorov has that much incremental value to them winning, I DO agree that he needs to go, and the Nets are a better choice than people think.
They're moving to Brooklyn
They have an owner who cares, and he seems to know what hes doing (example: saying "meh" guys for reasonable contracts, and not overpaying just to spend the cap)
The Knicks are still gonna suck for a while
Add to the current Denver situation, you know, playing with a bonehead like JR Smith, and playing with an aging star who thinks he's still Mr Big shot and bricking horrible 3s in crunch time, Melo's got to be feeling really annoyed. Seeing how his contemporaries are doing must be adding fuel to the flame. The thing about Nets owner is that he doesn't care about the salary cap. He's willing to pass it and pay double because he is simply that ballin'. I don't think it will be all too long before you see the Nets (they really need to change that name), become an All-star team. The top free agents will slowly begin to make their way over to Brooklyn.

Just because you are willing to pay the luxury tax, it does not mean you will be a contender. See the Knicks. The thing with the NBA is that having cap room is more often than not an illusion. A GM can overpay for a guy and use the cap just to let his owner/fans know he did something (Brand to the Sixers), or they can have a shit load of cap but have no interest from anyone (Clippers). So even if they spend their money intelligently, a lot of it has to do with chance, because its extremely rare that a bunch of Superstars become FAs and you JUST happen to have the money to sign em all like Heat. Unlike hockey, a game changer in the NBA is so damn rare, so really even if you had money, would you want to pay someone like Joe Johnson and HOPE he becomes a superstar?
On the flip side, a team like the Thunder is really smart with its cap, they use it to get value guys from other teams that couldn't keep said guys because of the cap (Eric Maynor from the Jazz and Sefolosa from the Bulls), and they save the cap to sign worthwhile guys for big money (Durant).
Having typed all that borderline bs, chances are if Melo goes there, he'll somehow persuade CP3 to come after his contract his up ahahahhahaha

FCK, so I went and bought the new PS3 move pack.... downloaded the 2k11 and Elite 11 demos...
geez Elite 11 just blows, I can't get in the groove whatsoever, the player movement seems awkward for some reason, and even when I switch the controls back to the old button style still I just don't feel any joy when playing.
2k11 though I have only played demos over the years never really got into it, I gotta say surprisingly 2k11 feels better, and this coming from a Live player since Live 99... All the things I didn't like before about 2K (player movement, getting past defenders realistically) seems to feel and be better than in Elite 11.
still haven't figured out how to fully control my player in 2K, but I have a feeling once I do, it will feel a lot better than being in full control of my player in Elite 11...
plainly put I had some nice moves and finishes that put a smile on my face in 2k11 playing with Kobe, while in Elite 11 nothing but frustration while trying to blow by Ray Allen with Kobe... unsuccessfully.... can anyone tell me the last time you saw Ray Allen use his footspeed to stop Kobe in his tracks when Kobe was in full stride and Allen was on his heels ? haha, fckin joke
and yea Nets are gonna make a turn around this year with or without Melo, they got rebooted in big way and I think it's gonna show on the court.

I saw DeRozan at the NBA 3 on 3 jam session tourney on the weekend and was just wondering if he would finally hit a jump shot this season, he was supposed to be a good shooter coming into the league but bricked every jumpshot bad last season.
Sittin here now I just saw him hit a smooth mid range jumper and not a minute after a 3 pointer.... looks like he worked over the summer on his shot...
and damn I wonder how effective Calderon will be this season, last season he blew and Jared Jack took up a lot of his playing time... Thats what he gets for taking 3 months of playing basketball....OHHHHHHHHHHH ALLEY OOOP FROM JOSE TO DEROZAN, WOOOOOOW !!!

I like and dislike the new rules, I don't mind guys having a WTF face or shaking their heads after a foul call, that's a natural reaction you CANNOT get that out of your system, it's like it's built in you not something you can control really. But when you got players running up on the ref complaining and yelling and swearing I think that's bullshit and beyond the line, and it just doesnt look good to little kids watching the game on TV.
I can't stand seeing Kobe drive the ball miss his layup and then just stand there staring and yelling at the referee, while both teams rush downcourt for the next play and he's the only one left back there, leaving his lakers in a 4 vs 5 defensive possession. That's plain selfish
So some aspects of the new rule are good, but I think they're pushing it a bit too far and over reacting.... I think basically the referees have been wanting this for a looong long time and now that they finally got it, they are having the times of their lives.
I'll bet you right now that Joey Crawford will by the end of the season have kicked out the most players of all the refs, lol, anyone remember when he booted Tim Duncan out the game and allegedly challenged him to a FIGHT ??? haha, he got suspended for it too
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOygTd1NWCM
Garnett got kicked out the other night and what he did was so mild to what he usually does, he ended up just laughing it off and walking out. But damn, I wonder how many times Jordan would have been kicked out if these new rules were in when he played, he used to chew the refs up all day long

I know this is not the intention, but I liken the new techical situation to slave masters trying to curb any emotions from their slaves, how can you order players to just play the game and not show any emotion when a win/loss often hinges on a few, or even one bad call? Not to mention you have a guy as old as 70+ (Dick Bavetta) trying to ref guys in their 20's, in a sport that is arugably the most subjective and the most difficult to call when it comes to contact. The NBA is not addressing the right issue with the refereeing, and I bet part of them just want it this way to get people talking about the NBA constantly and partly to indirectly "affect" games by placing Refs with certain tendencies in key games.

Odom also pointed out the hypocrisy of the league's celebrating emotional play in television commercials and advertisements, while at the same time punishing emotional reactions to the officials by doling out technical fouls.
"It's kind of crazy because that's what people love to see. You watch the commercials and the NBA has dunking, [players making] faces and 'Where Amazing Happens,'" Odom said. "Now it's like 'Where Normal Happens.' ... There's nothing amazing about not showing emotion."
