I said the other month the Royce White shit wouldn't end well cuz he was being very difficult to deal with, and that was me talking shit little bit... I didn't know it was gonna end THIS bad.... it's an absolute first world fucking problem, which is why I have no sympathy whatsoever for the kid
I was all over Facebook posting Nash and Sacre back start of the season, two guys from not just Canada but Vancouver playing together on a team like the Lakers, it's just awesome to see as a Vancouverite. My younger brother remembers playing Sacre in high school numerous times, said Sacre was awkward as fck and had a lot of growing into his body to do, he had no idea how to use his body most of the time, and that was a similar scouting report for him in Gonzaga as well, a big strong specimen who was a weak rebounder for his size.
But I seen all the Laker games he played in start of the season and he looked solid for a big man rookie, he was a little flustered at times but looked good, was hitting the boards, throwing his body around, and hell he was even making a few buckets a game not just putback garbage 'round the hoop types either, I'm talkin like little 10 to 12 foot jumpers.
Gonna be watching tonight's game for sure, I hope he brings it and reps for the City

Looks too raw to me. Asik will just destroy him....
I wonder who will get an elbow from World Peace this afternoon, Harden or Lin? They'll run circles around Nash and Bryant.
kobe will drop 50 tonight

-seems like Garnett got under Carmelo's skin during the Knicks and Celtics game on Monday night. 'Melo was looking for Garnett at the Celtics locker room and at the Boston team bus after KG said some words to him.
Most people know that Garnett is a big trash talker during games, being a motor mouth often.
-wonder what KG said to Carmelo that made him very agitated. Did he insult his Mama? :considered:
Both players talked over the phone after the game. They have since cleared the air, resolved their conflict.

so funny....such a horrible shot-block....Back in the day, a good block was considered to be one in which you gained possession of the ball....nowadays, it's "cool" to try and put it into the 10th row into the stands....Howard could have easily pulled that down instead of swatting it.
Also, I just looked up nobody has signed Kenyon Martin yet... why not take a chance on this guy.. brings some toughness as well
Knicks are taking a look at him right now.

I was a pre-teen when The Kid got drafted, so I pretty much watched him his whole career.
My favorite KG version was when him and Marbury were tearing it up in Minnesota, for you youngins in here that only see Garnett as a decently productive big with a big mouth, you guys oughtta know that this guy was in beast mode when he was in his prime.
It's a damn shame that You Tube you can only find videos like this one where they just cut right to his finishes and dunks, I mean you had to see this guy play on a nightly basis like I did growing up to appreciate his game..
Other than Shaq, growing up watching the game, I don't remember anyone averaging an easier 20/10 than The Kid, like an eyes closed type of thing, just made it look so easy

No doubt about KG's talent. He played like a beast back in the day with the T-Wolves. I'm in my 30s so I remember KG as Mr. Versatility.
-The dude can score, grab rebounds, and make good passes. He was a threat almost every night for a triple double.

Philly got 20 points right now and he's been involved in every single one of them, either by scoring or assisting. And he's at it every single game, nicely and under control, just making things happen like clock work.

G-spec: Yeah the D'antoni thing I said it from the beginning, with Lakers roster offense wasn't gonna be a problem, it was defense... and D'antoni is an offensive coach everyone knows that, I still think Jerry Sloan would have been the best man for the job... and I say that fully knowing that Phil Jackson was absolutely never an option no matter what the Jimbo Buss says. It's obvious he only asked Phil if he was interested to avoid fully pissing off the Laker fanbase, he had absolutely no intention of giving Phil the job at all
and Last night that was the first Lakers game I seen in full, and from what I saw when Howard gets double teamed in the post and has to kick it out to someone hovering midrange or 3 point line, his passes are atrocious, it's like half bounce half direct pass, totally shit to the point where the shooter can never get a clean catch to shoot right away, he has to swing it almost instantly even if he was wide open when Howard made the pass... has he been passing it out of post double teams like this all season ?
I agree with G-Spec 100%. Jerry Sloan would be the best coach for the Lakers. D'Antoni is just not a good fit for this team because he cannot make a team better defensively. He's good for offense, terrible for defense.
Bottom line, the person who should get the most blame for the Lakers' dismal season so far is not the coach, not the players, it's that moron Jimbo Bus. Jim Bus hired the wrong coach for this team. He made a bad hiring decision.
Why hire a coach who has a philosophy of fast tempo, 7 seconds or less, offense for a veteran team with an aging superstar in Kobe? This team doesn't have the legs to play offense and defence well at the same time.
If you have different types of star players in Kobe, Gasol, Howard, Nash, and MWP playing together, you need a coach who can bring out the strengths of these players.
D'Antoni puts Gasol on the 3 point arc to shoot threes?? -putting a player in the wrong position on the court is not gonna help the guy's game improve.
Jimbo Bus is responsible for messing up the Lakers' chances for the post season big time. Heck, he should consider a career change to drive a bus in LA, instead of being an NBA team executive. Quit your day job Jimbo! :troll:

Yeah, the Mavericks kept the game close against the Clippers last night.
-noticed that when the Mavericks played defense well, contesting shots, and boxing out the Clippers players, LA's half court offense was somewhat neutralized.
I noticed in the first half that some Clippers' players missed jump shots, and prevented from getting into the paint as a result of the Mavericks defence. That dude Collison had a good game too.
It was CP3's good passing in the interior and better ball movement that opened up more scoring opportunities for the Clippers.
A co-worker of mine said he recognized this baller who attends many NBA games regularly across the U.S. Anyone notice this dude in the Clippers game last night?

Here are some interesting Sportsnet and ESPN articles. Apparently, the Heat are monitoring Greg Oden's comeback intentions closely.
Can Oden become a Heat player? The team's so far above the luxury tax levels in terms of payroll already.
Will Pat Riley take his chances on Oden? The Heat are currently about $14 million over the luxury-tax line for this season.

Kelly's doing well, actually spoke to him a couple weeks ago. Red shirt year was great for him to put on the weight and get stronger. Went from a skinny 3 point shooter to a beast that can do work in the post and still beat ppl on the perimeter. Feel good for the guy, put in work and it's paying off. Basketball for Canada is really rising, i just hope "canada" realizes this and puts more effort into it with all the legit prospects that are coming up now.

^ is that Wally fcking Sczerbiak on that panel ??
holy shit, that dude just disappeared one day I never knew what happened to him.... last time I saw him in Cleveland with LeBron, he was stealing passes from his own teammates because of how unhappy he was with his touches.
I really liked his game back in the day, he was a sick shooter who could put it up any which way he wanted, create space or pull up, n catch n shoot.
Durant.... I gotta say, I used to knock on him and hate when people compared him to LeBron and other Elites, simply because he was JUST a scorer and nothing else, but I see this year he's made an effort to explore the rest of his game, he's doing more things than ever before and YES he's still scoring tons.....
And the common mistake most people make when talking about "BEST" is dependent on hot streaks more so as opposed to actual skill..... so YES KD is probably the best player in the league RIGHT NOW, anytime a dude gets hot people start stirring up the "Who is the best player in the world" talk, but you just can't fckin do that, you can do who's the HOTTEST right now, but not who the best is overall skill level... and no he's not really close to being THE best player in the World....
LeBron and Chris Paul hold the title of two best players in the world now, and for the next few years simply because they dominate the game in every single aspect, from scoring to passing to everything in between.
When KD or anyone else for that matter learns to dominate the game in various ways night in and night out, then that player may join the best player convo

including 109.3 over the last ten allowing 3 40 pt quarters (not including last games 39)
and now with hill out for the rest of the season due to injury lakers just lost someone who plays with heart 100% of the time hes on the court and actually fights for rebounds

He's a great man-to-man defender, that's about it. He's pathetic at anything else on defense. It's ironic how he keeps making the all defensive team.
Couple with Mike Dick who are not willing to learn defense.... How the fuck do you win games when you give up 120 pts per game. I don't see it. The only chance is for them to turn-around is to fire D'Antoni and ANY coach taking over, going on a 10,11 win streak (similar to Nets' Carlesimo)

^ when u play the minutes kobe is playing at his age, something has to give. Seems like he decided to let the defence slip up while putting in more on his offensive game. I must say that I'm a kobe fan more than a lakers fan but I still think they can squeak out the wins...

^ It's not necessarily that that part of your game just goes away, still very much there, it just takes a lot more effort it's the best way I can describe it. As you get older you have to push yourself harder to do the things you used to be able to do with ease when you were younger
Me from high school to my summer pro league season in Europe few years back, everything stayed somewhat the same, but where I'm at now at 29 with about half my athleticism left, I find that on offense I let things come to me a lot more as opposed to expending energy trying to make things happen, playing in bursts basically so I'm using my energy on MY OWN terms and how I see fit that way it doesn't necessarily wear me out more. On defense though, that's where the real problem is, because you have no choice but to defend accordingly how much energy you expend depends on the guy you're guarding.
That's what Kobe's thing is right now, it's just common sense, I mean even the young guys like for example the matchup between Lillard and Curry the other night, they barely guarded each other, coaches know if you put your best offensive player no matter how good a defender he is, if you put him to guard the other team's best player, he will wear out...
the only guy I saw that could do both ends of the court without sacrificing any part of his game was MJ....
My bro just hit up a Knicks game at teh Garden earlier tonight, enjoy the pics... identical seats to mine too from last week coincidentally, lucked out just went straight to the box office like 2 hour prior to game time and a single seat left for $200.. not bad pricing I must say

as a huge kobe fan, he's been playing that kind of defence for at least a few years now..it's just something i've learned to accept. he's a great man to man defender yes...like tonight when he stepped up to guard kyrie irving for most of the game..on paper, it looked like irving didn't have a bad game but he wasn't able to affect the game like last time he played the lakers.
kobe plays defence most nights like a ball hawk safety in football. he watches the ball and reads and reacts. so of course yes sometimes he gets beaten on backdoor plays or he can't rotate back to the 3pt shooter in time. at his age, you take the good with the bad. i'll take a 60% kobe bryant over a lot of nba players any day. i believe his desire and will to win a 6th championship will overcome his defence shortcomings. <-- coming from a true kobe fan. lol.

One thing that stuck out like a sore thumb, ok they're all unbelievably athletic and they guard you like a pitbull on steroids, but they got absolutely no sense of control or decision making on offense. For every one of those sick crossover to the hoop plays the guy pulls off that you see in the Ball is Life videos, there is 10 horrible shot selections and bricks.... and bricks, shit let's talk about bricks..... none of these dudes could shoot the ball whatsoever, and I'm talking about the point and shooting guards too, the guys who are supposed to be able to shoot.
They're oozing with so much athleticism it's impossible for them to rely on anything else except that for the time being, that's where the coaches need to step in to develop them properly

wuhoo the KD's are brand new I haven't even worn them yet, wifey brought them back from San Francisco yesterday, I'm heading out to play ball at Centennial in a bit gonna see how they perform...
The KD's and Kobe's are made more for extreme performance, so when you slip your foot into either of those, it just feels like something bare bones compared to the LeBron's.
earl The LeBrons X's not the best looking shoe imo, but are easily the most comfortable shoe I've ever balled in, the air cushion is amazing, you feel it working under your whole foot, the 9 Elites are still the better all around LeBron shoe though.
It seems to me though the X's run half a size big though, I should have gotten a 10.5 instead of my normal 11
It depends on the type of player you are, if you're super speedy and make tons of lateral cuts like speedy guards do pushing off your forefoot sideways often, you wanna be as close to the ground as possible don't need an inch of air bubble separating your foot from the ground. But if you're a big man you wan't all the cushion and support you can get....
Memphis and Spurs is always a good game, the Golden State Miami game tonight just might be the hottest game of the night

What I'm saying is, since he's such a good shooter and his typical tough shots aren't falling, why not switch it up to go through some screens and hit up some catch n shoots like Ray Allen....
if Kobe did more of that, his shooting percentage would sky rocket.. if he can hit them tough off balance floaters n jumpers, catch n shoots are cake for this guy.....
see as I'm typing this right now, he just came from a baseline screen caught a Nash pass and tossed up a 3 that went in easy... that's exactly what I'm talking about... it doesn't have to always be tough create your own shots, it can be easier, he has good teammates now that can make it a lot easier for him

I liked it when they had pau and howard on the court at separate times, it looks like that works better for them. Pau can boost the bench scoring. The lakers have no problem on offensive, it's their defense, it's just attrocious this year. Sometimes it looks like no one wants the ball and there' s no urgency to get a stop. They're getting better every game though. Really hope they figure it out. It would be a disaster if they couldn't even make it into the 8th spot.

Some postgame Kobe quotes below..... dude had probably as many shots Nash, Howard & Gasol combined I think... he chucks out of frustration most of the time which I'm not condoning, and the rest of the time like I said before to bail out in low shot clock situations...
They didn't go BIG against the Heat like they should have, I don't know what they expect if you play against a team and you don't utilize an obvious mismatch.
and that catch n shoot point I made a few posts up, looks like he understands that as well...
so to me it looks like he's being half defiant and half understanding in his interviews, but come game time it all gets thrown out the window. He tries to emulate MJ in every single thing he does except this one, and that's trusting his teammates. MJ didn't start winning chips until he learned to trust his teammates.... this in my memory at least is what I will remember Kobe for, a wild west gunner with no remorse who was cold blooded enough to win a few, but not smart enough to win many
I need some help offensively to save energy and not have to isolate and do things like that,” Bryant said. “I’m going to need some picks. I’m going to need to catch-and-shoot like I did in the fourth quarter a little bit to make my job a little easier. I think the first three quarters of me just standing around the perimeter, the defense is praying for that. We have to do some things to free me up and get me in open spaces, this way I can be more active on the defensive end of the floor
We talked about it going into the fourth quarter. I said, ‘Coach D man, goddamn. Come on, man. Come on, man. I can’t be standing out here like this all night long now,’” Bryant said, recalling a conversation with Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni. “We did a much better job of that. My teammates know. We got to pick each other up. I’m going to go out there and do what I got to do defensively, and then on the offensive end of the floor we’ll pick each other up
good game lastnight. If the lakers keep playing the way they are right now, they will make the playoffs. Miami, when they are focused looks really really good, and it seems they only play like this when they are playing the Lakers, and OKC.
Also I always cringe when ray allen is on a fast break alone, the guy never seems to hit his freaking layups lol
edit. I also agree with the all star snubs, tyson chandler and tim duncan should have been starters.

Somtimes it seems as if the fan voting for the players starting in the All-Star game is based more on player popularity than player performance this season.
Did KG's comments to Carmelo "Your f*** wife taste like Honey Nut Cheerios" and that on court incident with Kris Humphries just make him more popular among fans? -get him more attention on the Internet?
Why fans didn't give a high number votes for Duncan and Chandler relative to other star players is somewhat puzzling. These are low-key guys, players that play the game very well and would make a good team mate in the locker room. Is it a popularity issue?

What are you talking about? Miami looked like complete shit for like just one half of a game before they figured it out.....lost first game against Boston by just 8 points after having the shittiest first half of a game I have ever seen...After that, they were great, finishing the season in 2nd place in the East with a win percentage of 71%......Lakers would have to win 41 of their next 43 games to match that......
Easy there..I'm talking bout last season.

You know, regular season games really don't mean shit if you're trying to make a comparison for playoffs....I'm not disagreeing (or agreeing) with you that the Clips will beat the Thunder in the playoffs, but, in all reality, a regular season game in the middle of January simply doesn't mean anything....These teams will play with a different kind of effort, game plan, possibly a slightly different roster, and it will be a 7 game series with many, many game-to-game changes in strategy. Clips lost to OKC 2 months ago in OT too when both teams were pretty much healthy....Like I said, it doesn't mean anything, especially your argument as to why the Clippers would win: because CP3 was injured, some Clips had a poor game, and they still made a game out of it....big deal, Wizards beat Miami last month, should we crown them as Champs?

I'm making a matchup comparison between two teams that will probably meet in the Playoffs Western Conference finals. And today's game wasn't a typical regular season game for either of these teams let's be real.
So far until seeing today's game all I had was my assumptions based on what I've seen from these two teams this season.
But after watching the game I'm even more convinced that Thunder are outmatched come playoff time.
This game alone showed why, I mean the fact that the Thunder were on fire and playing at a pace that no team can keep up in a 7 game series (typically a team will have 2 games like this if they're lucky in a playoff series) and they barely won... that should tell you a lot..
And ok as far as Playoff intricacies like adjustments etc.... Scott Brooks' biggest flaw as a coach as is already widely known is the inability to make proper adjustments during a series, he just relies on Durant being himself and Westbrook the same... this team is dead in the water when they're down, I've seen it few times this season with my own eyes. And Vinny isn't much better than Brooks when it comes to this but at least he has Chris Paul on his side, the smartest player in the game... also Billups lest not forget
If the Thunder played mediocre and won, I wouldn't come to the conclusions I came too, but the fact that Thunder played as well as they possibly could and still barely got a win tells me more than enough....
I mean an off night from Bledsoe, Jordan, and Butler.... just one of these fckin guys alone playing their typical good all around game would have been enough to beat the Thunder tonight. And you STILL got Chris and Billups on the bench.... this is why I'm convinced, not because I'm a biased Chris Paul Clippers fan

I watched the same game as you and what I saw was a Thunder team playing great in spurts....They did not play a great game for a full 48 minutes.....They would play great for 8 minutes, take a convincing lead and make me think the game was over, and then let their guard down for the next 6 minutes allowing the Clips right back in it, but then pick it up right before the Clips got a real chance to complete a comeback......That's what I saw, and we both watched the game game....Sure Bledsoe, Jordan, and Butler may have had "off nights"....but the Thunder seemed to play like they just didn't give a shit for 40% of the game, or whenever they managed to gain a convincing lead....
So who knows, maybe if Bledsoe, Butler, and Jordan played a better game and actually made it tough for the Thunder to re-gain their convincing lead, we would've seen the Thunder playing at 100% for the entire game....I'm sure you've experienced that before, haven't you? Gain a convincing lead, then start taking it easy and getting complacent, thinking the game is over, until the opposition actually makes another run at you...

OKC's biggest lead was 16 points, and it kept on going from 15ish points to 5ish back to 15ish back to 5ish....They never really had control of the game, and my bet is that they could've kept it around 15 if they didn't get complacent...

Nowadays, the studs don't REALLY start trying until the 4th quarter if it's a close game...back then, it wasn't necessarily all the different either....Only reason why Jordan went off for "18 points in 6 minutes or something" was because Mike James talked shit to him....

^ lol, tru story bro....
AI was famously hard to deal with especially in his early years not just on the basketball court....
so just finished the first half of the Lakers game, so far Pau is puttin in work...only bright spot though, cuz Howard still looks like a 35 year old nearing retirement... Nash is just giving the ball to the Grizz, and Kobe is Kobe... actually Kobe is heating up right now in the 3rd
Howard just re-aggravated his shoulder so he's out for the rest of the game
Trying to describe the ambidextrous nature of Mike, one of the Memphis announcers just said Mike Conley is "Amphibious" totally wrong fckin word :lawl:

It's a toss up in my opinion between '94 and '86....
'86 had Jordan, Hakeem, Barkley, Stockton, Kevin Willis, Sam Perkins, Otis Thorpe, Alvin Robertson......'94 probably had a wider range of great players, but Jordan, Hakeem, Barkley, and Stockton have to be the top 4 guys to ever come out of the same class.

^ wow clear foul on the first one and it looked like the ref had a good angle as well. This lakers season this year... shit. From the convo up at the top of the page, I agree with the ego issue of the buss, he shouldn't be in charge. I was reading the BS report and they discussed it as well, good article. Check it out if you got a few spare minutes, discuss a lot about buss, dwight, odom, d'antoni (should be without the d) and earl.

Here's the official logo for New Orleans Pelicans, as per the official press release today. Meh, it's not just the team name doesn't sound intimidating, it's also the logo colours that are not appealing. -brown wings for a pelican with the body in the shape of a basketball? :heckno:
http://nba.si.com/
It looks like the team used a poor pelican covered in oil from the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill as the logo.
-looks like a mean looking pelican covered in oil:

-talking with a co-worker about the Raptors, he calls them the Craptors even as a guy born in Toronto, about DeRozan's game winning fadeaway against Orlando.
-only saw the winning basket because a couple of guys at the gym started yelling at the TV. I thought "Okay, the craptors lost again."
Wow, what a clutch shot by DeRozan. He had two defenders on him, one Orlando player was contesting the shot. -still shoots the fadeaway from the corner for the win.
They're still the Craptors. For this game winning shot, they can celebrate for now. :troll:

The Raptors have played better without Mr. Primo Pasta in the lineup. No doubt about that.
Their record within their own division and conference is still bad. 1-7 in their division, 9-13 in the East. Only 5 wins out of 23 games on the road.
It will take an amazing turnaround in the second half of their season just to even have a legitimate chance to make the playoffs.

Saw all 3 games yesterday no work last few days tweaked my back lifting, lots of down time, lol...
Carmelo helped KG up off the floor when he fell then proceeded to break a losing streak Knicks had at the Garden since 2006....
DeRozan with 2 clutch buckets in a row, one fadeaway fading right which is the toughest type of shot you have in the game of basketball.... SWISH.... and the second one came easier goin left even if he had 2 defenders on him.... good for DeRozan he's FINALLY providing consistency...
Clippers continue to fight without Chris Paul.... uhmmm..... watching DeAndre Jordan unable to contribute and sitting on the bench while Lamar Odom puts up bricks and fouls people because he can't keep up defensively..... beyond frustrating.... and directly at DeAndre, fuckin guy is pissin me off.... started SOOO well beginning of the season, wtf guy get your shit together

^ thx, some slick shit..... he almost hit the game winner too....
happy the Clips made a 9-0 run to get the game to 100-91.... but pissed off at watching the Blazers make a 10 nothing run to win it, 101-100.... because Vinny Del Negro didn't make one simple adjustment during that Blazers run....
he kept butterfingers Odom in and Jordan on bench, and he called 2 time outs and didn't even tell his team they were out of time outs so Barnes almost got T'd up for trying to call one....
the whole coaching staff there repulses me, you got Chris and Chauncey in suits sitting right there and they may as well take over, the two of them have more smarts than the whole Clippers coaching staff combined guaranteed
