IMO if the Cavs pushed it to 7 and Lebron puts up 50 in a loss there would be no way he wasn't gonna win the MVP. However, coulda woulda.

so pissed off about the MVP, LBJ gave his heart and body and deserved to win it no question's asked
i disagree, you don't get MVP if you don't win, period
it's like saying westbrook should've gotten regular season MVP, mad stats but they still lose

how in the fuckitty fuck did lebron not get finals MVP?!?
the award is for the player who was most valuable to their team!! Lebron was pretty much equal to the entire warriors team after 4 games... unbelievable
don't get me wrong, i'm no Lebron lover, but the guy played lights out these finals and nobody even came close

In my books, Lebron sucks. He can't win jack without allstar team. I don't got respect for players that join stacked teams to win championships. Without wade and bosh Lebron would be championship-less. Look at Jordan, he didn't go join another team to win his championships, even to this day, still one of the best in the history of this game for his position.

Your book is wrong bro. Lebron showed in these finals that he can carry a team and fell just short. Jordan had name players around him too.
LeBron James sets NBA Finals record in losing effort to Warriors - NBA - SI.com (http://www.si.com/nba/2015/06/17/nba-finals-lebron-james-stats-history-cavaliers-warriors)
Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James is the first player in NBA Finals history to lead both teams in points, assists and rebounds for the entire series, according to ESPN.
James averaged 35.8 points, 13.3 rebounds and 8.8 assists across six Finals games. The Cavaliers fell to the Golden State Warriors, who won their first title since 1975.
The 30-year-old James scored 40 or more points three times in the series, including 44 points in Game 1, a career-high for James in the Finals. He recorded a triple double in Games 2 and 5 and just missed one in Game 6 with 32 points, 19 rebounds and nine assists.
According to Tom Haberstroh of ESPN, James accounted for 38.3% of Cleveland's points in the Finals, the second-highest percentage of team points in Finals history. He is edged only by Michael Jordan scoring 38.4% of the Bulls' points in the 1993 Finals, which Chicago won.
James lost out on MVP honors for the series to Warriors guard Andre Iguodala. Had he been named Finals MVP, James would have been only the second NBA player in history to achieve it in a losing effort (Jerry West in 1969 is the first).

...scottie pippen became a man and rodman joined them later. jordan had a good team.
this finals reminded me of the 2007 finals when lebron had no help as well. they only got swept back then because he was a giant puss and couldn't pull out a single win.
the only thing i didn't like about lebron's nba finals game is the 2nd half of game 6. it's do or die wtf stop passing the ball, he had 5 games to figure out that he's their only offence. jordan and kobe would jack the ball up every possession in his position, they would lose on their own terms.
tldr: lebron is still a lil bit of a puss

Lebron played amazing. But basketball is still a team sport (to some extent).
It was Lebron vs. ALL in this series.

Because he's not Jordan or Kobe? Sure he can take over the game, but he's better at getting his team involved and distributing the ball. It's a team game and if your team mates don't show up, you're not winning anything a la this Final.
I don't know about everyone else, but I love it when the team shares the ball. Love the Spurs and enjoyed every minute of their championship run last year.

There is no denying that Lebron is heads and shoulders above everyone else right now. He is the best player in the world and this series proved it. Any other player in his position with that ragtag team would have been easily swept. He turned scrubs like Delladova into a household name and indirectly got Tristan Thompson PAID because the defense collapsed on LBJ every time he drove which left TT open for the boards. He would not have had nearly as good a post-season without Lebron.
I will admit that I am a Lebron hater though. He is weak mentally. There's a huge difference to get players to join him rather than him jumping ship.
It all started with "The Decision" then it just snowballed from there.
Then the article about "I am coming back to Cleveland to tutor the young kids, I understand it will be a long and hard process" then within a week tells management to dump Wiggins for Love because he wants to win now. Contradict much?
Jordan wouldn't have called Magic, Bird (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5391478)
Michael Jordan led the Chicago Bulls to six titles. And while he had Scottie Pippen, there is little question the Bulls were Jordan's team.
"There's no way I would've ever called up Larry [Bird], called up Magic [Johnson] and said, 'Hey, look, let's get together and play on one team,'"In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys."
"He'll never be Jordan," Barkley told 790 The Ticket in Miami earlier in the week. "This clearly takes him out of the conversation. He can win as much as he wants to.
"There would have been something honorable about staying in Cleveland and trying to win it as 'The Man' ... LeBron, if he would've in Cleveland, and if he could've got a championship there, it would have been over the top for his legacy, just one in Cleveland. No matter how many he wins in Miami, it clearly is Dwyane Wade's team."
Other talented players I dislike are Dwight and Josh Smith.
Dwight's lazy ass days in LA, he knew the team wasn't that good, but that doesn't give you a reason to not show up at all, still getting paid to play.
Josh Smith,... highest paid player in history to be WAIVED by his team. How embarrassing is that! Then the Pistons start winning! What a cancer! Then he walks on to the Rockets to join his "buddy".

this series was a perfect example of basketball being a team game, and no matter who you have on your team the better TEAM will prevail. im not huge lebron fan, but he did deserve MVP imo. lets face it, the cavs would be nowhere without lebron in that lineup without kyrie and love. and he IS the best player in the world. its bit of a stretch to give the finals mvp to someone on the losing team but the stats lebron put up it would be well deserved. he literally gave it his all but you can only do so much. also i had no problem with him saying hes the best player in the world cuz he is... and this is coming from a huge kobe fan but you gotta give credit where its due. im happy for GSW and steph curry, hes got a great story and is a good rolemodel for the kids. and above all else his game is just filthyy
I got a little upset watching delly and jr smith play the first 3 quarters. Wasting possesions.... smh.

The dice are rolling!
- Love opts out!
- Lakers deep in the chase for DeMarcus Cousins, Lamarcus Aldridge and even Kevin Love. Random twin towers?!
Portland is turning into the San Andreas movie, everyone getting the fuck out!
- Batum traded, Matthews and Afflalo opted out.
- Blazers trying desperately to lock up Lillard now but not sure if he'll stay after watching this exodus. He'll only have Robin Lopez and Chris Kaman to play with lol.
I'm a Spurs fan so I'm super excited to see what's gonna happen, I heard they are looking at LMA or Marc Gasol. The first big-name they are chasing since like forever. Imagine adding a star of that caliber to the Spurs already well-oiled machine. :high:

Boo, nothing exciting at the draft except Lakers took Russell over Okafor which was a great move. They can lure a big man from FA which is ezpz for the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. Also Sac-town drafted a center over Mudiay, does that mean Boogie is on his way out of town?

The first domino fell when LaMarcus Aldridge decided he was not going to re-sign. As good as Damien Lillard is, especially in the clutch. Aldridge was the undisputed anchor of the team. They already failed to make the playoffs with this core and weren't getting any better so they are going full rebuild although they got nothing back in terms of assets. The writing was on the wall when they traded Batum for cap space, LMA's closest teammate.

Yup my cousin who is a hardcore Lakers fan says Russell has glimpses of Curry with a body of Westbrook :rukidding:
But still a good pick considering that they have Julius Randle and looking to pick up one of LMA, Cousins or Gasol.
Sixers  ... even Joel Embiid tweeted:

Exact same situation as Detroit last year with Monroe, Drummond and Josh Smith, and look what happened there.

Embiid had a setback in recovery he may not even play. Still the 76ers have 4 bigs Embiid, Noel, Okafor and Šarić and no guards to get them the ball.
Obsideon
06-25-2015, 10:18 PM
However given Sixers situation I probably would have done the same. Take the best player available regardless of position. Rumours surfaced that Boston was interested in Noel and they have hoarded a boatload of picks over the next 3-4 years.

Embiid is probably going to miss a huge chunk of next season so that was one of the reasons they picked up Okafor. No real big surprises though.

his past Saturday, the United Way of King County put on a fantastic event at Safeco Field. It was an all-star softball game to raise money for youth homelessness. There were all kinds of great names there: Jay Buhner, Dan Wilson, Joey Cora, John Olerud, Jermaine Kearse, and on and on. But it was these two standing aside by side that really captured my imagination. Kemp and Payton.
You can't look at those two men without flashing back to the mid-90's when they formed if not the BEST guard-forward combination of all-time...then certainly one of the 2 or 3 most thrilling.
Go onto youtube and watch \what Shawn Kemp could do at the height of his powers. NOBODY threw down dunks the way Shawn did. Ever.
Several times a game there would be that moment where Gary came down the court with the ball, head cocked, mouth open, eyes darting like a cat stalking prey. Then quick as anything he'd loft the ball up, and for an instant you'd swear he overdid it, threw it up too high. "Nobody can get to that," you'd think. But then young Kemp would launch himself skyward like some kind of spring-loaded super-hero... up, up, up he'd go, and right at the apex of the ball's arc he'd catch it in one of those massive paws, pull it back behind his head and then CRASH! He'd crush the ball downward into the basket violently, viciously like the bolt action on a rifle. And when he landed delicate as a dancer back on earth, his body would slink and slide into all kinds of awkward gyrations, not a celebration really, but a shy kind of dance. It was as if left-over adrenaline was slipping out of his body.
The two of them were breathtaking.
Someday Seattle will get another NBA team. Count on it. But I'm convinced I've already seen the best court combination we'll ever have.

Ouch DeAndre signs with the Mavericks. This hurt the Clippers bad because they don't have the cap to sign anyone else, nor is there anyone even close to DJ's caliber left in the market. Amare? Perkins?... dayum...
Also Robin Lopez to the Knicks. Portland is scorched earth. I didn't think it was possible but they are having a worse off-season than the Canucks. They lost their entire core and got zero picks in return.
PF - Aldridge gone.

Rajon Rondo signs a 1-year $10 million contract with the Kings.
Boogie must be choked, the Kings traded away their future to sign free agents this year but got rejected by Ellis (Pacers) and Wes Matthews (Mavs) and ended up with Rondo and Bellinelli.
Marco was the benefactor of playing in Poppovich's system and got paid. He won't get the same open looks in Sac-town and he definitely isn't the same type of creator as Monta.
Rondo is more of an enigma, was he just a by-product of the C's big 3? How could he fizzle out so quickly in Dallas? He was looking like a max contract guy and now he's barely Jose Calderon's level.

Literally the ONLY serviceable big man left in the market is Kevin Seraphim, KEVIN SERAPHIM! I don't even know what team he played for last year, wasn't it the Wizards? He was like a 3rd string center that saw ZERO floor minutes.
Say Team A could have a pact with a player to screw over Team B.
- Player verbally agrees to contract with new Team B
- Team B stops shopping for other players because they are maxed out on cap
- Every other team starts signing 2nd and 3rd tier players
- Player backs out and goes back to original Team A
- Screwed over Team B now has a lot of cap open with garbage available players left in the market
This could be used to screw rival teams.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have fired head coach David Blatt according to a report by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
Marc Stein of ESPN is reporting that assistant Tyronn Lue will take over as head coach on a multi-year deal.
The Cavs currently lead the Eastern Conference with a 30-11 record and are the defending conference champions, falling in last season’s NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors.
Blatt was in his second season with the Cavaliers and will depart with an 83-40 record.

Raptors announce the opening of their new practice facility, the BioSteel Centre.
A 68,000 feet state of the art facility. Impressive.
Raptors, Ujiri kicks off All-Star week with new practice facility - Sportsnet.ca (http://www.sportsnet.ca/basketball/nba/raptors-ujiri-kicks-off-all-star-week-with-new-practice-facility/)
For Ujiri, events kicked off on Wednesday with the official opening of the BioSteel Centre, the Raptors 68,000-square foot practice facility on the Canadian Exhibition grounds.
The building itself is impressive, spectacular, even. And, in the context of an elite NBA club, much needed. Since the ACC opened, the Raptors have trained on a single court and in a small weight room on the second floor of the building. The team’s executive offices are on another floor, the coach’s offices and training rooms on yet another floor. Shuttling between them meant elevator rides and walks through the concourse—awkward if, for example, DeMar DeRozan wanted to come in at night to train or shoot and there was a Leafs game or concert on.
The new facility brings all aspects of the basketball operation together in one environment. The fitness and medical facilities are state of the industry. There are two basketball courts and even though the building does have some community access, the Raptors will always have access when required. There are hot tubs, cold tubs and underwater treadmills, and a view of Lake Ontario from the dressing room. There is even a barber’s chair. The Raptors practised in it for the first time a few days ago and came away wowed.
Coach Casey is almost breathless when he talks about it; the players loved it; they really, really enjoyed it,” says Ujiri. “It builds your culture better. You can spend more time with each other.”
The opening was intentionally timed to coincide with All-Star Weekend, allowing the rest of the NBA to drop by for a peek if interested, but Ujiri isn’t counting on it being the difference in attracting free agents. “As far as a recruiting tool, yeah, you need a good practice facility, but the reality is in the NBA, the way it’s going, everyone is going to have one,” says Ujiri. “It doesn’t make you better or different, but it hurts you if you don’t have one.”

TNT had shitty angles... which is why you don't really understand why Zach's dunks were that impressive. When your peers go nuts after you make those sort of dunks (even Gordon), you know only a handful of people can do that. Guy literally jumped 12-15 feet twice and put it between his legs/windmilled it.
But there's no doubt Gordon had the most impressive dunk of the last decade.

This year's All Star Weekend was one of the best in league history. -so many good memories:
-Exciting duel between Aaron Gordon and Zach LaVine in the Slam Dunk contest.
Gordon got robbed. He should have won the contest because his dunks were more creative than Zach's jump from the free throw line dunks.
-Klay Thompson winning the 3 point contest. Hitting 5 straight 3s with the money balls from the final ball rack was crazy!
-Kobe's last ever All Star appearance. -sad to see Mamba leave the game that he loves so much.
-Kevin Hart vs. Draymond Green in the 3 point contest. That 5 foot 4 comedian tied Money Green for the number of 3 pointers made.
Hart is still pissed because he thinks he should have won the contest. He still gets a participation ribbon though. :lawl:

I'm not a big fan but Drake would have been by far a much better choice for halftime performance. The crowd totally did not care for Sting lol even Michael Buble would have been ok compared to gramps.
I felt Kevin Hart was trying too hard to be funny, he was hilarious in most segments but cringe-worthy in others.
Kobe snubbing Drake's hand shake during his intro was too good! Drake was like a little groupie fan boy all night lol.

The dunk contest way exceeded my expectations! The under-both-legs dunk and the hover board catch were my favourite, it's harder than it looks to palm it like that in mid-air, spin and slam it down hard! Just every dunk from AG was more impressive because he's a big guy. I feel that every dunk is easier for Lavine because he's so skinny and light. Definitely robbed.

I didn't think any contest was gonna top the VC one but this bumped it off the top of the mountain.

There doesn't seem to be many competitive first round playoff matchups in the west.
GS vs. Houston. I pick Warriors winning in 5.
Spurs vs. Grizzlies. Spurs in 5 games.
OKC vs. Mavericks. OKC in 5 games.
Clippers vs. Trailblazers. Clippers in 5 games.
-Lillard and McCollum have to go into beast mode in order for this series to go beyond 5 games.
My picks:
Warriors in 4. Houston has no heart, Dwight sucks.
Spurs in 4, Memphis is missing their top 3 players in Conley, Allen and Gasol. Spurs will want to put them away ASAP to rest their players, all business.
OKC in 7. Dallas can still put up a fight.
Blazers in 6 - I do not like the Clippers, I don't like any of the players. The fanboy in me rooting for the cold blooded assassin Lillard and co to take over!
For the first time in a long time the East looks more interesting in the first round.
Cavs vs Detroit - Cavs will take it in 5 but Detroit should be able to put up a good fight every game.
Raps vs Pacers - This will be a very interesting series, biggest key being will this be the Rapchokes of old? If they play like they have all regular season this will be Raps game to lose. Raps in 5.
Heat vs Hornets - I am pegging the Heat to the the darkhorse of the east, they are more dangerous than they seem. Heat in 5.
Hawks vs Celtics - This will be a boring but gritty series. This might be the most closely contested matchup. Celtics in 6.

What do you think about the NBA selling sponsorships on player's jerseys starting in the 2017 season? Those greedy ass owners. :lawl:
Will we see a Rogaine logo on LeBron's jersey one day? :troll:
NBA to begin selling jersey sponsorships in 2017-18 | NBA.com (http://www.nba.com/2016/news/04/15/nba-to-begin-selling-jersey-sponsorships-in-2017-18.ap/index.html?ls=iref:nbahpts)
NEW YORK (AP) — The NBA will begin putting sponsorship logos on player uniforms in 2017-18, a move that could generate at least $100 million annually and a step that the NFL, Major League Baseball and NHL have yet to take.
The three-year trial was approved Friday by NBA owners and will take effect when the league's contract with Nike begins. The patches will appear on the front left of the jersey, opposite Nike's logo, and measure about 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches.
Logos appear on international and MLS soccer jerseys, and many athletes in individual sports wear their sponsors' attire in competition.
Commissioner Adam Silver had said going with logos was inevitable because of the potential to add revenue. WNBA teams already have logos, and NBA clubs were wearing them on practice jerseys.
"Jersey sponsorships provide deeper engagement with partners looking to build a unique association with our teams and the additional investment will help grow the game in exciting new ways," Silver said in a statement. "We're always thinking about innovative ways the NBA can remain competitive in a global marketplace, and we are excited to see the results of this three-year trial."
Silver called the plan an "experiment" and said it was hard to estimate how much revenue it would generate because teams would be responsible for their own sales, and some could decide not to participate. But he said it could be $100 million annually.
Major League Soccer teams began selling jersey sponsorships in 2007, and they generate more than $6 million annually in revenues.
Adidas enters the final year of his contract as the NBA's official outfitter next season. When Nike takes over, its logo will become the first on league's jerseys - except for those of the Charlotte Hornets, who are owned by Michael Jordan.
The logo of his Jordan Brand, a subsidiary of Nike, could be on the Hornets' instead.
The sponsor patch will be adjusted to fit the dimensions of each sponsor's logo. It won't appear in retail versions of the jerseys, but clubs can sell jerseys with sponsor patches in their team stores

T-Wolves are about to hire a new coach and GM. Coach Thibodeau:
Tom Thibodeau closing in on becoming coach, GM of Timberwolves, according to report - SBNation.com (http://www.sbnation.com/2016/4/20/11454308/tom-thibodeau-timberwolves-coach-general-manager)
-good move by Minnesota. This team hires a coach with one of the best defensive systems in the league.
One of the NBA's most revered defensive minds is close to heading to one of the teams that needs him the most. The Minnesota Timberwolves are finalizing an agreement with former Chicago Bulls head man Tom Thibodeau for the dual role of head coach and president of basketball operations, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.
Former New York Knicks GM Scott Layden is expected to join Thibodeau to run the day-to-day front-office operations, according to Wojnarowski.
Wojnarowski reported news linking Thibodeau to the job on Monday, but his sources suggested team control was a sticking point in the negotiations between the two parties. The veteran coach wanted final say over personnel decisions like hiring a general manager, drafting and free agent signings. With a reported agreement between the two nearly in place, it appears Thibodeau's wishes were granted.
Thibodeau is expected to make around $10 million per year after signing a five-year contract with Minnesota, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
Thibodeau was brusquely dismissed by the Bulls on May 28, 2015 and spent the past year out of the coaching game. He'll take the reins of a talented, but inexperienced, Timberwolves team that won only 29 games last year.
The impending move is a homecoming for the 58-year-old head coach. Thibodeau's first NBA job came as an assistant during Minnesota's debut season as an expansion team in 1989. He spent three seasons in Minneapolis before building a reputation as one of the game's most dynamic defensive coaches in stints with the San Antonio Spurs, Philadelphia 76ers, Knicks, Houston Rockets and Boston Celtics.
That defensive expertise will help a young roster that ranked 27th out of 30 NBA teams in defensive efficiency last season. By comparison, Thibodeau's teams in Chicago never rated lower than 11th in the league and twice finished No. 1.
This impending hiring is the Timberwolves' latest attempt to recapture the glory of the Flip Saunders era at the turn of the millennium. Under Saunders and the leadership of superstar Kevin Garnett, the team recorded the franchise's only playoff appearances by qualifying for the postseason eight straight seasons between 1997 and 2004. With probable 2016 NBA Rookie of the Year Karl-Anthony Towns leading a roster that also includes 2014 No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins and enigmatic point guard Ricky Rubio, the team is hoping Thibodeau is the man to turn a talented team into a winning one.
Thibodeau was named the NBA's Coach of the Year in 2011 and has a 255-139 (.647) record in the pros. He's never endured a losing year as a head coach. If he can keep that streak alive, he'll give Minnesota its first winning season since 2004-05.
Layden has been in the NBA for more than 30 years. He was the Utah Jazz's general manager from 1992 to 1999, then served in the same capacity with the Knicks from 1999 to 2003. He later returned to the Jazz front office and has been San Antonio's assistant GM since 2012

My pick is Raptors in 7 over Miami. Coach Casey needs to come up with offensive sets to counteract the shot blocking from Whiteside. K-Low's drives and DeRozan's attack of the basket will face the Whiteside shot blocking and Deng's defence so Raps will need better mid range and 3 point shooting to win this series.
The Raptors bench can also be the difference in the series. That rookie Norman Powell has played well so far in the playoffs.
Raps also gotta hustle much quicker for rebounds and protect the ball better. They had too many turnovers against the Pacers. Valenciunas has to grab rebounds better and not act like a butterfinger in the paint. :troll:
