I'm pretty sure most skin manufacturers yell you not to use a case with their skins.

the review on verge said the earpiece and also speakerphone volume...not a deal breaker for me as long as it has great audio output from headphone jack...which apparently it does.

I'm gonna tell you from first hand experience, if you use a skin and a case together, you'll probably end up losing some of the skin when you remove/put on the case.

My gf is using my old nexus s that had ghost armor on it. She put on a case mate pop case and the side trimmings of the ghost armor started peeling off

Ya these shields aren't designed to have cases put on top of them; it's one or the other. Let's be honest man, the shield is the best way to go...Adding a case ruins the aesthetics of the phone and the ergonomics of it. A shield will still protect it from the most common damage, scratches. Keep just the shield on, maybe get a pouch or something. I like using neoprene pouches like the one I got with my Nexus One.

Also, I don't use screen protectors anymore; haven't since the Nexus One. The Prime also has an oleophobic screen which is supposed to prevent oils, grease and residue buildup.

Yup I'm gonna stick with just the skin. on my SGS it never peeled off but the dust that built up from it (I just had those back plates with holes all over it) was disgusting

twitchyzero 12-15-2011 08:36 AM

+1 for shield and case
better safe than sorry
be it gorilla glass...or "fortified glass"

jeff19 12-15-2011 11:45 AM

yah i've used BSE for a lot of my phones. cutouts are much better than zagg's, and hell of alot cheaper. But im not as careful with my devices anymore, especially on nights out drinking haha.. been staying away from skins after dropping them a couple times

I ordered a diztronic tpu case, has had a lot of good feedback from what i've read

I'm leaning towards the Otterbox Commuter case, anyone have personal experience with Otterbox cases?

!Yaminashi 12-15-2011 03:19 PM

phunky.FOB 12-15-2011 04:06 PM

Has saved my desire more times then I can remember. However lint/dust can becomes an issue...and the rubber parts that covered my 3.5mm jack is torn off.

If you're the kind of person that drops their phone a lot.. then it might help you. I have one and i don't think its that great personally.. Its pretty chunky and adds to the thickness of the phone. Lint also gets to be an issue, but protection wise, it's great.

essel 12-15-2011 07:33 PM

Hmm.. I'm usually really careful with my phones, but this is gonna be my first smartphone (been using the old school phones from 2003) so I wanna make sure it's not gonna die from 1 drop

I'm kind of confused about what NFC does...
is there ANYTHING right now that we can use with NFC? (other than reading octopus cards)

I take it that RFID is not the same as NFC?

!Yaminashi 12-16-2011 12:30 PM

I think NFC can be used to share media as well as pay for things in stores? Although I dont think the store payment feature is supported here yet. Maybe someone else can chime in

!MiKrofT 12-16-2011 01:36 PM

NFC can't transfer media. The speed is slower than bluetooth. It's a super short range authentication/basic data transfer method.

Tim Budong 12-16-2011 02:38 PM

i want phoneee

jeff19 12-16-2011 02:38 PM

the only thing nfc can be used for right now is the android beam function in ics, as miKrofT said can only transfer basic things like web/youtube links. Google wallet will be the next big thing for nfc, though I doubt we'll see it a lot in Canada anytime soon as it takes a lot of time to partner with merchants. There are only a handful of stores that have it integrated right now, and most of them in the states

I just found out last night that the Galaxy Nexus won't have LTE speeds on rogers

i'm so disappointed right now
:okay:

!Yaminashi 12-16-2011 02:53 PM

Personally I dont see the need for LTE speeds. 3.5G is plenty fast for me on the go

same warranty, same return period.

649.99+HST no activation fees or anything

Is that the only Bell location that sells the phone off contract?

shenmecar 12-16-2011 03:58 PM

I played with the Galaxy Nexus demo at the Aberdeen bell dealer. Its a pretty big phone. ICS feels different than Gingerbread of course. but I didnt notice it to be faster than my SGS2. Overall impression is mehhhhhhh. I'll wait for SGS3. Lots of hardware specs floating around about the SGS3 on the interwebs, none of which is confirmed. But the specs are pretty monster.
