which one has the camera shortcut???

I'm using a paid version of Magiclocker with a paid theme.
I think its called Android4 pro or something, but basically its similar to the stock ICS lockscreen on the Gnex, but it allows for 2 extra shortcuts.

Honestly the best few dollars I've spent on apps

twitchyzero 01-15-2012 07:37 PM

face lock is such a gimmick
it won't recognize me when i dont wear my glasses...they should let you take a few pics as reference images...ie. one with glasses..one without glasses...one when i'm holding the phone in landscape mode.

any suggestions for good HD video player that supports most common codecs? I wanna make the most out of the 720p screen :fullofwin:

Alatar 01-15-2012 08:08 PM

Shit... if I take a picture for face unlock with my goatee... and then shave said goatee off in a few weeks... I'm going to be screwed for face unlock!

Currently patiently waiting confirmation that my phone's shipping out.

R5x 01-15-2012 08:12 PM

From my experience with face unlock, it's not THAT sensitive. It can figure out my face with or without glasses on. It definitely doesn't work if you turn your phone landscape though at the lockscreen.
Overall, I find it annoying and don't use it.

Is there a way to delay the onset of the pattern/pin/face unlock instead of having it activate EVERY time you turn your phone off?

twitchyzero 01-15-2012 08:37 PM

yeah i set mine for 30 seconds but sometimes the phone locks in 10 seconds :suspicious:

Fafine 01-15-2012 08:51 PM

this phone sells like hotcakes! easily 2-3 of them sold a day at work.

I use mx video player. Plays pretty much all of the files i threw at it, and has a lot more features than stock video player. The new update for ics makes full use of the 720p screen as well by hiding the soft keys in landscape.

Yeah. Mx player is the best. And if you're rooted you can install ad block so you no longer see the ads either.

There's a backup unlock of course.

Rooting your phone is to gain access to your phone's root directory. You have complete control over phone? It's sort of like jailbreaking an iphone. You need to root your phone to do more with it.

it's like clicking the "show me windows system files" button in windows.
allows you to modify EACH AND EVERY SINGLE file on your phone

!MiKrofT 01-15-2012 10:53 PM

Yeah root just basically gives you full access to the file system. It's not necessary really and MX Player works just fine even with the ads since they're fairly unobtrusive.

Kamui712 01-16-2012 03:01 AM

the only time I saw ads was when i paused a video - so really the ads aren't a big deal.

on another note, for those who flashed a custom rom - which one are you using?
I'm using Android Revolution HD 2.1.3

CP.AR 01-16-2012 08:11 AM

I was on Modaco for a while, then moved to some AOSP build of 4.0.3
going to migrate back to Revolution HD in a bit

!MiKrofT 01-16-2012 08:57 AM

ARD 2.1.2 with faux kernel

I picked mine up on Sat, and it was $149 for upgrade, with a $50 credit to my bill a month later.

How did you get the $50 credit? assuming you had to do a 3 year renewal?

About to renewl my contract and upgrade to either the S2 or nexus, info on your credit would be appreciated.

Have any of you guys given the Kang Rom a try? He was a beast for ROMS back in the Nexus One days...

twitchyzero 01-16-2012 03:17 PM

tried mx player..worked with mkv file but some times had low frame rate...i have 2d acceleration forced on so i dont know if that was affecting it
also noticed watching an hour of HD video 45% brightness drained by battery by 50% and the phone gets quite warm...guess it's time to use juice defender.

suggestions for anti-theft/tracking app?

Installed open kang on my gf's nexus. Seems good and stable so far. There are some nice built in tweaks such as changing the color of the softkeys , toggles in the notification area, 1% battery mod, adjustment for screen rotation interval, etc. Built on 4.0.3 too.

Have any of you roamed with an AOSP rom?
I'm having troubles with roaming:

1. It won't automatically connect to another provider.
2. If I use "Select automatically" it connects me to the network, but I can't make calls.

I use Where's my Droid. It works via SMS and it shows a lot of info, address, current speed, direction traveling, and even a google map link.

There's also a web portal, so you can access the info via the the WMD site.

Another service I like is Prey.
