Now, with my Nexus, I wish I was able to get not only that AccuWeather widget but also Samsung's Voice Command software. It was nicely integrated and pretty useful.

Anyone seen/been able to install any of these said apps/widgets on other phones?

The voice app is just vlingo. You can download that if u look. Sometimes the Samsung apps are linked to different files/framework so a lot of the times you can't copy it over.

Kamui712 01-11-2012 12:33 AM

^ accuweather can be selected from beautiful widgets too

The SGS2 AccuWeather Widget cannot be selected from Beautiful Widgets...or any other widget/app for that matter.

It's powered by vLingo but the app is different from the actual vLingo app that can be downloaded on iPhone and other Android devices. It was better integrated with the phone and had a better interface.

So i went to the rogers store where i had the nexus sent to. No contract price is $675 plus tax. Thats what shows up when they scanned it. So i didnt buy it.
Also went to fido and asked, but they wont sell it to me outright
EDIT: Went to another Fido and bought one for $599, no questions asked

Ahh.. if that's the case no one will probably ever port it due to samsungs integration into it.

telus friends and family webstore has the galaxy nexus for $2.50 on a 3 year contract

boss_clad 01-14-2012 01:58 AM

why would anyone want the white one? i dunno, to me, if i were buying "his" and "her" phones for my girl, the white one would be for "her". different opinions though. just sayin.

and the gun-metal color on the back is so nice.

anyways,

i grabbed one at HK airport Dec.18th on the way to vancouver.
paid around 5800HK (750USD)

this phone's awesome. worth every penny.

ICS runs so smooth and quick.

but some things irritate me:

-shitty speaker, i miss so many calls and notifications. always gotta check my phone randomly.

-no camera shortcut button on the side of the phone. the camera shutter is so fast, but accessing the camera could be easier.

-wish they'd put the sleep button on the top of the phone rather than the side so it won't accidentally sleep all the time.

-only 13GB of storage, so chinced for such a great phone.

-since it's so powerful, the battery drains fast, i have a charger in my room, office, car, and a lifetrons portable charger. i charge every chance i get. heavy usage will only give you about 3 hrs with this phone, like a porsche 911 with only a 20L gas tank.

if they found a way to fix all that,

this would be THE PERFECT PHONE

but for now, i give it a 8.7/10

boss_clad 01-14-2012 02:11 AM

oh, and another thing:

i almost forgot,
i'll drop the rating down to 8.5/10 now that i remember.

why the hell does the screen lock keep coming on and off randomly?

i'll just let it sit there, and it'll come on and off sometimes when i haven't even touched it.

do any of you guys have the same problem?

It does have a convenient camera unlock...but I would want a camera button not so I can access the camera quicker but because it's a lot easier taking steady shots using a dedicated button rather than the touch screen.

!MiKrofT 01-14-2012 12:15 PM

None of my last 4 phones have had a physical camera button lol. I just have the entire screen set as the shutter button.

Dialerone is functionally good but ugly compared to ICS, Touchwiz, Sense dialers.

twitchyzero 01-14-2012 12:32 PM

is the Ringke case posted earlier have a slimer profile than the SGP Neo Hybrid?
i think i'll go with the diztronic rev 3 for now

There's one thing iOS has on Android now. Volume button to take pics.

Negative. Camera Zoom FX has button customization options. You can set either button to take a pic:woot2:

Is this a separate app or a tweak to the stock camera app?

Its a seperate app, and imo its alot better for ease of use than stock. You dont have to rely on just buttons, you can just tap anywhere on the screen for it to focus and snap your pic.

Its not built into the stock abilities of android, but isnt that the beauty of android? If you dont like something, there's usually a way to get around it

but that would mean you can't access it from the lock screen right? :(

That's true, I guess it depends which lockscreen you use. Im using a lockscreen that allows me to have different shortcuts and it's not widgetlocker

!MiKrofT 01-14-2012 03:49 PM

Nothing is slimmer than the Ringke. The SGP has a plastic shell and a rubber liner so it's definitely thicker.

I was going to buy the same diztronic case but I hate how the edges flex so easily on these TPU/Silicon cases.
