The "leather" backing was peeling a little bit in the corner
The sides are a little low/doesn't protect the edge of the phone
The included screen projector is garbage

Weird. Mine was perfect. Included screen protectors are always garbage. That's why they're freely included.

Regarding the sides thing. It clearly shows on the website what parts of the phone it protects and what it doesn't so it's not like you would be expecting otherwise.

how do u guys root and unlock it? any real reason to do it? I have the rogers one. is it locked from factory? I'm a noob with Android it's my first device.

All Nexus phones are "unlocked" from factory.

^ are you going to be streaming videos, downloading games, or tethering alot? Or are you mainly using it for social networking (fb, twitter) and emails and some web browsing here and there? Those are basically the two categories that separate a 6GB user from a 500MB user. Personally I tether to my iPad alot so I use about 3GB a month.
