I don't understand the radio stuff. do I WANT to update my radio to the one my carrier is on? or am I trying to get away from my carrier?

I'm on XXLF1, baseband: UGKL1 right now. I'm on fido. is this right?

I downloaded getRIL and it says RIL/baseband doesn't match

He updates the Rootzwiki thread first cause they sponsored his Galaxy Nexus. He'll updated the XDA thread later.

For radios it's really a trial and error. I'm currently on XXLF1 with Rogers. My previous radio was KRB1.

I installed ARHD and advanced restored my data. What else can I get back from here? What is boot and system?

Post up a review after you've played with it for a bit :)

I will do so and try to compare it with bigpixie's rom. Im not hoping for anything drastic to be honest, both roms are similar.

One thing for sure is I will continue using the same 207 franco JB kernel. I dont know if this is a myth, but i have read that it takes a day or so for hte kernel to "settle" to get the best battery results, and so far, I have only drained half my battery since unplugging the phone around 11am on bigpixie's 4.1

Since you just installed the rom, the screen on time will be higher since you are messing around with the phone. Give it time, my screen brightness is on AUTOMATIC if you are wondering...

I normally dont connect to wifi, but GoogleNow can use the Wifi to determine home.

Don't restore anything else cause you'll be wiping your jb build with your ics build.

I'm on 210 of Franco. They are correct in that it takes a few days to realize the full effects of both the radio and kernel.

How are you getting such good battery life after an hour of on-screen time? Undervolting? Low brightness? Hot plug? Conservative governor? Extended battery? What's your secret? :)

On average with the gnex, the best I've gotten to is about 10% drain/40 minutes with my screen on browsing with stock/chrome browser. You look like you get MUCH better than that. I'm currently using bigpixie's jb + franco kernel 210.

!MiKrofT 07-03-2012 09:15 AM

^Browsing sucks up battery cause your constantly using the radio. I keep my screen brightness around 14% and sync is usually off.

EDIT. I looked at my screenshots.. Appears I took them at different times. It should be 86% instead of 91% on the screenshot above.

jellybean...the head melted and then someone stole a bean

Jelly Bean is so ridiculously hot that the JB statue overheated, and his head partially melted and popped off.

And then we think somebody stole one of the jelly beans. People: please don't steal our jelly beans.

Anyway, they've got the poor guy coned off now, for your safety but mostly for mine. But fear not, the designer is already working on a bug fix.

Flashed Jellybean, I think I'll just wait until a custom rom comes out.

DanHibiki 07-03-2012 05:49 PM

Did you reinstall a google apps pack? Most custom ROMs don't have the permission from Google to include their proprietary apps, and so you have to install them from a pre-existing backup. (or from someone else who has made a backup of the apps for your phone which originally existed on your phone)

following the instructions there was no mention of install gaap.

i seem to have all the other google apps tho. just not youtube. might have to reinstall and do this fresh

Graeme S 07-03-2012 05:55 PM

Or just see if you can get the youtube app from the Market.

Anyone notice slight input lag with jb?

I find that when typing (especially in whatsapp) the lag is increased a lot.
Doesn't matter whether I use Swiftkey 3 or the stock keyboard.
Typing is kind of a chore now whereas in ics I could just blast through when typing.

I've also noticed it when pressing other things on the screen occasionally. It just seems like I press something and the screen doesn't register an input. But much more noticeable when typing.
A couple other ppl I talked to have sort of noticed it as well.

is there a way to mass install (multi select) all the apps that you want in play store to reinstall?

Im so tired of clicking it one by one, there must be a shortcut! lol

mobile.theverge.com/2012/7/3/3136336/galaxy-nexus-no-longer-available-to-purchase-from-google-play-website

On phone so can't really post a direct link but holy shit this latest apple lawsuit I'd ridiculous. All this over the ability to search your phone.

DanHibiki 07-03-2012 10:25 PM

Anyone else on android revolution HD? My YouTube app crashes if I press a volume key

Graeme S 07-03-2012 10:28 PM

Reminds me of a joke...

"So don't."

Honestly man, this is kind of more a general info thread than a specific diagnostic thread. And it seems like you've gone through a bunch of ROMs and Kernels really quick over the last few days. Best bet? Settle the hell down for a few days and find out what problems are coming from what! And then post in those specific threads on XDA. I'm running the stock JB with the 210 franco kernel...and if something went wrong, I'd probably go to the franco thread and/or the stock JB thread to see if it were a common bug and work from there.
