^ TBH I haven't noticed much difference. At first it seemed that it was worse but it seemed to average out. Need more testing to be sure. |
With all the talk about the Galaxy S3 I forgot all about the advantages that getting a pure google phone gives. jellybean looks GREAT and apparently Google Search Voice > Apple Siri > Samsung S-Voice. |
I think this just goes to show how big an advantage it is to own a Nexus phone and not having to wait 6-8 months for manufacturers to layer their custom skins on top of the OS or waiting for kernel sources to drop to get everything working. I'd still buy the Nexus if i were in the market for a new phone. Software optimizations in new Android versions > slapping a quad core and brute forcing your way through older versions. |
I have an important question for anyone who's tried jellybean. I saw that notifications in the tray are expandable and you can do things like comment/like right from the tray. No need to open the app. My question is, can you do quick replies the same way with texts and IM's? If so. My screen will need some cleaning. From the nut bustin' that's about to follow. |

Maybe a third party messaging app will update and allow that? |

How far behind 'futureproof' wise is the Nexus vs the SIII do you guys think? I am itching for a new phone, with the SIII out I can probably get a Nexus for way cheaper, but I don't want to get stuck with a barely usable phone at the end of my contract. |

Hey guys, just a heads up. I ordered my set of white housing last night. Will report back once I get it. Middle housing (Out of stock as of this morning) Battery cover Total came to $40 including shipping. Much better than the $100 range from eBay Germany. |
i would say s3 given lte and 2gb ram |
It all depends on what android versions come out and what the requirements are. Even though Galaxy S1s are now pretty much defunct, even the nexus S is getting jellybean. I will say that if you're not afraid of custom flashing, the full-term of the gnex might be as long or longer than the gs3. |
i just updated to jellybean, i was using go launcher before on 4.0.4 but it doesnt seem to like jellybean too much. was wondering what do you guys use for launcher? and a good app for calender where it can display dates not like the stock ics calender widget whihc i think is horrible |
I like Apex launcher |
Apex launcher isn't working for me on Jelly Bean. I tried it last night. After a clean install of JB I installed Apex launcher. When I start the launcher it crashes and gives me a force close. |
Tried updating to 4.1 and I'm stuck at the loading screen with the colorful X. Any ideas as to why? |
Did you try to give it more time loading? First time booting up after flashing new Rom usually takes longer. 2-3min ish? Also, if not try clear cache and dalvik cache or fix permission? If none works try again and reflash? |
^^what he said, clear the davik cache in the bootloader happened to me too, no problems after |
Hey CL typeS, you still on JB? Can you try downloading Apex launcher and see if you can run it? Just wanna see if it's just me that's not working. |
I did a battery pull and let it go again and after a few minutes of the 2nd one it booted up. I'm really liking 4.1, it feels so much more snappier and the search is awesome |

it says "unfortunatley apex launcher has stopped" then force stop as you said |

I'm sure they will update the Apex launcher and make it JB compatible when JB is officially released. |
