what kernels are you guys running? read this is good but no clue on which to download?

[KERNEL][GPL][5 JUN - #Milestone 4][r200-ICS r220-JB] franco.Kernel | 4.0/4.1 | - xda-developers

theres like r217, r220, 384/512 gpu

which one do i get if i just want stock speed, stability and battery life

Grab the latest which is R220 with 384GPU. I'm using the same kernel. The only other one I would try is Faux's kernel.

Jackson, I'm running 217 384 and am having a great time with it. Slightly better than stock speed and battery life.

R5x 07-18-2012 04:38 PM

I'm trying out Trinity Kernel right now because Franco bootloops on cm10. Heard a lot of good things about Trinity. Seems fine so far. Battery life, speed, and options are pretty much on par with Franco.

newer might not always be better
different phones react differently to kernels

Santofu 07-18-2012 09:36 PM

I did the rooting for the first time with Wug's Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit... however it didn't erase the phone after i did the boot. Have you guys used that toolkit?

I usually wait a few days and read the comments on the thread before flashing the latest version of the kernel. I upgraded everything on mine including the radio. For me it seems better but it might be more of a trial and error depending on your provider.

Well the price never came down much here in Canada. If I were to get another one I'd just order through the Google play store at $349 and ship it to a mailbox in blaine.

i flashed the r221 kernel, gonna give it a try.

Any noticeable diff between XXLA2 and XXLF1 radios?

I honestly think the prices are staying because of the release of jellybean.
Its the newest OS and everyone wants it, and the only way to get it right now is to get a galaxy nexus so demand is high

I got mine used 3 week ago for 330. The discrepancy between seller and buyers prices are big but don't give in, eventually you WILL find someone who will settle for a more reasonable price.

Hell people are posting used iPhone 4's for like 350-400 LOL

hongy 07-19-2012 07:24 AM

yeah I just bought one last night for 300. Mint condition

For me the reception seems better. But like I said it's totally dependant on which carrier you use and where you're at. Doesn't hurt to try flashing it and checking it out for a few days to see if it's good for you cause you can always flash back.

hongy 07-19-2012 12:53 PM

Quick question. I transferred a bunch of photos/music into my nexus and they're not showing up in the gallery or play music. Photos were originally from an htc desire and everything was placed in the correct folders- camera photos place into DCIM folder of nexus, Downloaded music back into the download folder- but when I go into the gallery none of the photos in the DCIM folder are there. When I take a new photo on the nexus it shows up in the same folder as the rest of my photos but only the new ones show up in the gallery app.

Gh0stRider 07-19-2012 01:08 PM

try another gallery app and see you get the same results

hongy 07-19-2012 03:12 PM

Yup only on the stock application, works fine on quick pic. Running on bigxie(?) 4.1.1 Tom with whatever kernel the rom came with and I'm having to restart the phone due to lag, and the keyboard not being able to keep up with me. I'll mess around with things after my exam but honestly its similar to my desire running 4.0.4

Simplex123 07-19-2012 04:41 PM

Yeah install quick pic from play store. And you definitely need to get on JB

hongy 07-19-2012 04:51 PM

On jelly bean already. Lol first thing I did after getting the phone was to change it to yakju, root, etc. I'm going to give xda another shot. Don't want to clutter this thread up.

Just flash your radio first, then download an app called GetRIL from the Play Store. Then let it do its thing. It'll tell you if the rom's ril and radio are mismatched and allow you to download the correct one.

J____ 07-19-2012 08:23 PM

got it to work :) thnx

!MiKrofT 07-19-2012 09:18 PM

The ota already has the latest ril so mine should be all matched.

J____ 07-22-2012 01:17 AM

anyone know what the gps is effected by? gps was pretty good and locked on in seconds when i first got the phone, now on XXLA1 radio, JellyBelly V3, and R221 franco kernel and gps takes like 10 mins to lock....

roastpuff 07-22-2012 06:28 AM

tons of people are also having that problem, no consensus yet as to what caused it. I have the issue too.
