You can pretty much do the same thing as Crossfit on your own if you google the routines.

They are known to be very cult-ish, though.

Wilso09 04-09-2011 01:23 PM

I've tried cross fit classes for a few weeks. Workouts were intense, you sweat like a beast! But as mentioned before, they did become too cult-like for my likings.

how is it cult like?

SkinnyPupp 04-09-2011 04:58 PM

They have these weird mantras and rituals and shit like that. There's an article on T-Nation from a former crossfitter or something like that, check it out

Think I'm finally going to get a pair of straps. Today I realized just how bad a shitty grip can ruin your workout. Was doing back today, but I did a lot of narrow grip stuff mixed with widegrip for my lats/upper back and my forearms were just toast by the time I got to deadlifting. My grip failed, balanced got fucked and back got tweaked. Wasn't even lifting near my max for deadlift, ahhh. This kinda shit pisses me off ... and I swear when I fail I can feel all the negative energy from other people, don't get the same high I usually do.

Thankfully, after a long warm shower + heated seats for an hour I'm feeling a lot better. Never want to feel that kinda pain again.

I don't think I'll use the straps for anything other than my deadlift maxes/when my forearms are shot from the previous exercises so my forearms keep gaining strength.

I tried to avoid em as long as I could, now it seems like I'll have to just do it, plus you look badass with straps on :fullofwin:

Why don't you just deadlift first?

The_Situation 04-10-2011 10:29 AM

Probably wants to warm up and stretch out his back first before doing the heavy lifting

The_Situation 04-10-2011 03:48 PM

Repped 107lbs for dumbbell bench press today. Went for a 2nd set and couldnt get it up, but my shitty spot let the dumbbells fall and I snapped my elbow back.
It feels a bit hyper extended, but luckily nothing major

Jer3 04-10-2011 06:01 PM

so i just finished a good chest and tricep day. first time trying 1mr and this shit is fucked up. it does feel like bad e. holy jesus. i'm going to attempt to take a nap since i feel like absolute fucking ass.

more or less yeah, i always start with a v hook row or lat pull, something to get the blood in my back

sas 04-10-2011 06:42 PM

I'm joining the dark side- will be bodybuilding and gpp work (sled, prowler, tire flipping). Will not be going 100% gay and will include light oly lifts.

Which leads me to my noob questions: how much volume will, "arms" eat up? Bicep curls aren't my thing but my bodybuilding buddy has lead me to believe I'll be doing my fair share of them.

Am in right in assuming high bar oly squats are how bodybuilders squat?
