you taking any fish oil or joint supplements?

is it generally cold in your gym? i heard wearing warmer clothing in larger, colder gyms help with joint issues during a workout

I haven't been taking fish oil as regularly as usual. I only have 2 more workouts before a 3 week break (2 weeks trip to japan, then need to avoid gym for at least a week after getting a tattoo), so I will tough it out and rest up over those 3 weeks. I'll probably do a bunch of pushups while at the hotel during my trip and see if I can find somewhere to do chinups :D

For my next 2 workouts, I don't think I will be doing low bar squats. I think that's what started it all, I think the extreme arm position jacked my shoulders a bit. I'll do front squats for the next 2 workouts, and maybe keep doing bench on the hammer machine

Stealthy 02-13-2012 08:21 PM

Beat my squats PR today!

i dont need rage for the gym

for me its,
the gym is something i have been doing for so long now that i just get in zone / mood what ever u want to call it and i am in the state of the gym as i call it, once i lock my car and put my headphones in its game over, my body just knows its time for the gym and my body is ready ( lol). I love going to the gym and i think about the gym at work and what i am going to do that day in the gym and so on, I have chosen the gym over lots of things but in the end i enjoy every second of it,

Lately i have been seeing tons of old friends that always go out to the bar and are over weight and just all the new gross ppl with huge guts in the gym and its so stupid. Yeah they are trying to get in shape but when they are down town and going to the clubs they are the cockiest mother fuckers out there. Some of my old friends that i run in to from time to time say omg you are so jacked, what do you bench ( i fucking hate that ) like stfu you guys have no idea what time and effort i put into the gym and now you guys want to come into the gym and start to get in shape.

I dont want a medal for the time i have put into the gym or anything and i am always there to give a hand but when you blow me off or stop going i hate that, o yeah dude i am going to start hitting the gym and get huge cant wait, 2 weeks later sorry was chasing LG's and getting drunk

I love the fucking gym/endrant

Excelsis 02-13-2012 10:21 PM

yeah people assume going to the gym is all about getting that bench number up

rage helps me get in the zone too but it really helps me pass me any mental barrier that may be in my mind during the day, if i'm focused that's good enough, if something crosses my mind i have to use rage to forget about it

strykn 02-13-2012 10:34 PM

i fucking RAGE SO HARD when people ask what you bench lol i just reply with i can deadlift your car

subordinate 02-13-2012 10:45 PM

eh, I see it as people liking to make conversation. How much you bench? Lift? et cetera.

You can either say the truth or make a joke to shrug it off. I wouldn't get mad over something so silly. They are probably legitimately interested or aren't sure what else to say to continue the conversation (when they haven't seen you in a while).

I get what Halo is saying about people going to the gym and quitting or just not taking it seriously (Blowing it off for LGs). But the fact is, there are various levels of dedication for each of us in this thread.

I say, take things in stride and focus on yourself. I'll lend a hand to others and give my thoughts, but in the end, I could give two shits if they quit the gym or go off the wagon.

Excelsis 02-13-2012 10:48 PM

I see the gym kind of as a training ground for life, if you quit then you'll quit other aspects of your life as well, you'll make worse decisions, and best of all you become honest with yourself and that's when you really start to develop.. I don't know where people get the idea that they're going to get big overtime or get a "6 pack" overnight or in a week :fuckthatshit:

I want to thank you so many times,

I always tell people who you are in the gym reflects every aspect of your life. The gym benefits no one but you. If you can't put the phone down for 90 minutes and work your ass off, I can bet every other aspect of your life sucks too, because you lack determination and focus. There's always gonna be shit that gets in the way of your goals, always. The real deciding factor is whether or not you choose to man up, face the challenge, or pussy out and rationalize your failures and make excuses.

I've given up and it feels like shit. I find myself picking up the pieces and starting from scratch more times than I can count, but everytime I start again I get further, I get better, and i get closer to my goals.

The best motivation is when I come in here and I see xplicit luder who was benching way under 200lbs a few weeks ago, now he's getting close to my PR, that motivates me. I see berz, the same guy who I told myself I was gonna match one day in DL-ing, is deadlifting 5 plates now, that motivates me. I never look down on others achievements 'cause everyone's got their own everest, but seeing their progress is a big motivation. We're all human, made of the same shit, if they can do it I should be able to too.

on another note .. low carb workouts fucking suck :okay:

Jermyzy 02-13-2012 11:37 PM

What are your thoughts on bench dips? Bad on shoulders or a decent at-home exercise (where I don't have a dip machine)
