Did 295 x 3 tonight. No increase in weight but did 1 more rep and it seemed easier this time. I tried to do another set of 3 but couldn't get the weight off the floor so I dropped back down to 225 and did a set of 8

so heres a vid i made 2 weeks ago when i was doing a form check. only 3 plates (max is 425)
edit: yes thats a 45lb plate on the outside. for some reason my gym has shorter fatter 45s mixed in as well.

Spoiler!

at the very least it should give you 3 plate challengers something to shoot for

Since it's a form check I'll point out that you are moving the bar forward a bit on the return

Otherwise, to my eyes, that's a pretty damn good looking DL

I see that he is moving the bar forward on the return to avoid hitting the knees, too. So are you saying on the return, one should send hips back first so the bar can pass the knees? In other words, the bar will drop down in a straight line from the hips?

I hope my question is clear.

SkinnyPupp 02-16-2012 10:58 PM

Putting the bar down should be exactly the same as picking it up, but in reverse.

For anyone still doing Starting Strength/Stronglifts:

How are your physical gains progress coming along? Have you noticed a big difference or very little?

subordinate 02-16-2012 11:09 PM

body wise? I definitely look a lot more solid overall. But nothing dramatic, then again, I've only been lifting seriously since late October.

This is a strength program, not a bodybuilding routine; however, if you decide to bulk and lift heavy in the Starting Strength - then cut afterwards; no doubt you would be shredded enough.

On a side note, Thanks for the low bar squat recommendations. Awesome - Body felt more tight and weights felt easier.

Gerbs 02-16-2012 11:53 PM

Is low bar that much significantly lower than high bar? I think i put the bar too low :(

hx2gls 02-17-2012 03:12 AM

While doing my 5x5 program over 4 months I gained ~15lbs (mostly muscle because I am around the same definition and vascularity). I've gotten comments from people I know mentioning how much bigger I look since I started. To be honest I don't think that I would've gotten these results with a regular split routine because stronglifts/starting strength forces you to go really heavy and push yourself. The only thing that was a bit lacking was arms since there aren't any exercises that directly deal with bis/tris but you can add supplementary exercises such as dips/pullups like a lot of people in this thread have done.

Berzerker 02-17-2012 08:35 AM

Today is DL day and my Hammies are fucking sore. Did 5x5 Squarts @ 275 with Leg Press in the 12-15 rep range on Wednesday. Usually 2 days is enough to recover but not this time. I'll still give it the Ole' RS try. Lift Now Suffer Later. NorestdaysEVER!

Berz out.

DaFonz 02-17-2012 08:49 AM

Lol keep it clean boys. This isn't a callout thread

It's not a callout thread but you can only listen to so much for so long without some warning flags going up. I'm not the only one thinking this.....
