Being in Japan it can drive me pretty crazy how people here tend to believe that meat is what makes people fat.

Countless times I've had friends of mine tell me, "don't get fat" when I choose to eat more meat and less rice or bread.

Meal plans laid out for people in gyms also seems to focus more on carbs and vegetable intake rather than proteins. But, in general, Japanese people seem to be healthy so I can't really criticize or say anything to them. :concentrate:

I agree with everything you said until this. Small stature != healthy.

OK, that's definitely true. But what about Japanese people supposedly having one of the longest lifespans?

Is that ranking kind of bullocks, then? I guess it's something I'm trying to make sense of.

But maybe life expectancy does not necessarily equal "healthy" either.

I think life expectancy is more related to the ability to have access to health care, and is mostly related the general affluence of a nation. That's why Hong Kong, Singapore and Macau are rated in the top 10 (all former colonies or city states with small populations and huge economies), while China is all the way down in the 60's. You could say that the lifestyles of these places are very similar, but China has a lot more poor people without access to health care.

Generally speaking, I think Japanese people live very stressful lives, followed by a lot of drinking and smoking... Yet with easy access to health care, they are well taken care of and can live long lives.

The rest of the top 10 nations all have public health care systems I believe. I'd have to look at each one individually, but putting aside the rich nations I mentioned already, you have countries like Israel, Italy, Spain, Sweden, France, etc, all with universal healthcare... In fact you can probably look at the list of top life expectancies, and directly correlate it to WHO's list of countries with the best public health care.

The only outlier I spotted was Oman, which has public healthcare, but is #57 on the list. I guess it's all the Mac Donalds they eat in Oman ;)

Comparing #1 Japan to #12 Canada, you are talking about 0.7 year average difference in men. (women are much higher compared to most countries, which pushes the overall average up, and is an interesting stat in itself)

Skinny, can you please name some things on the McDonalds menu that would be considered "healthy." I'm saying McDonalds in moderation is fine, yet you still fail me? My point is, I'd rather have my diet consist of home cooked meals rather than anything on the McDonalds menu. My body does not react well to McDonalds (explosive shits, acne, gas, etc), and I know other people who have the same issue. Of course, when I have McDonalds every now and then, these side effects are not as severe.

If McDonalds was as healthy as you're depicting it to be, why don't professional/junior athletes just make their diet consist around those kinds of foods?

I stand by the gist of my original statement. If McDonalds/other fast foods is your only source of calories, your conditioning is probably going to be shit.

Pretty sure Skinny's not the one preaching "moderation."

o really...? Tons of pro athletes eat mcdonalds... Nutrition is overemphasized because people and companies who write dieting books and supplement companies gotta make a living somehow. Its a fallacy that you cant outtrain "bad" nutrition.

plz aware me of healthy choices at mcdonalds or any fast food places? is it just a matter of ordering more burgers without the sauces and buns with no fries and a bottle of water?

lol reminds me of this one time I posted on FourSquare I was at McDonalds for a double hamburger post-work out. The next morning my coworker, typical skinny Vancouver cardio-only no-definition girl, judgementally says "you went to McDonalds?"

... while eating a bowl of instant noodles first thing in the morning. :derp:

i feel like shit everytime I eat mcdonalds.

it doesn't take a rocket scientist that you are what you eat.

I love to eat organic eggs and meats now. More pricey, but I just feel fan fucking tastic.

After switching to monastery eggs, and organic rancher beef/lamb sourced from local farms, my mood levels have gone up.

Believe me. I'm bipolar and have issues with anxiety. Ever since correcting my diet my mood has elevated 20 fold.

It's not supposed to mix. Just scoop it in your mouth and wash it down with water or grape juice.

I mix it in hot water, stir it up until it's dissolved, add cold water then down it. I know many people on here mix creatine with green tea, try that.

Annals of Internal Medicine | Are Organic Foods Safer or Healthier Than Conventional Alternatives?: A Systematic Review :concentrate:

Conclusion: The published literature lacks strong evidence that organic foods are significantly more nutritious than conventional foods. Consumption of organic foods may reduce exposure to pesticide residues and antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

I don't get why you guys mix creatine. I just eat the stuff with a scooper. When you mix it, some of the stuff gets stuck to the cup and wasted. If you put it directly into your mouth, then you get all of it.
