yeah it was originally to be exclusive to xbox360 but sega decided they wanted it on the ps3. Aside from the load times and occasional screen tearing the port is fine. I think people make too much of an issue over stuff like that. I agree that its still not an excuse for the game to be this "bad" but I'm happy that we even get it. There's a rumor of a hard drive install that will help with the load times but nothing else has surfaced about it

So I finally finished Valkyria Chronicles.
The Report where I had to prevent the enemy from reaching my camp was pretty tough.
It was either I kill them all or prevent them from reaching the camp after 8 turns.
I spent roughly 4 hours just beating it.
Aside from that, the game was stellar. Ch.15 and onwards was sensational. The anime followed the game pretty well and I felt the story had more impact and emotion than the animation.
Great game.

Now to play inFAMOUS, AC2, and MW1. :lol:

considering it's usually only the older single laser drives that burn out, that makes it at least a few years old. Plus the serial number on it is likely tied to you somewhere.

If you're able to follow a basic tutorial and have a few screwdrivers you can easily replace the laser unit yourself, a new one might cost up to $100 though depending on the model.

So apparently, geohot(george hotz, the iphone hacker who unlocked and jailbroke iphone 1g) has claimed to have hacked his way into the memory and chipset of the ps3. All without a physical modchip. His hack allows the user to write into the memory. As of now, he hasn't posted how he did it, since if he did, sony will most likely find a way to fight him knowing how fast sony can pump out firmwares. Fact or fiction? Only time will tell.

What we do know is that geohotz is pretty damn credible with his hacks.

Some questions for you guys. If I try to put in a USB stick with movies on it that I want to copy onto the harddrive, it always says there are no files on it! When I put my iPod in, basically the same thing happens. I can go into the info menu and it will count and show that I have 2100 songs, XXGB used and XXGB free. But only 1 song will show up on the menu and be playable. WTF?

its gonna take a while before the PS3 is fully hacked with custom firmware... even by then, sony will be updating the firmware and releasing hardware revision so often that it will be a cat/mouse game like the PSP

Well considering that you have to buy high-quality media to burn the 360 games (or else they go bad after a while) I would assume the discs needed to copy PS3 games are expensive. For the number of games that I really find worth playing, and how much I play CoD online, I personally wouldn't find it very worthwhile. Even if they can be booted off an external HDD, some of the exclusive PS3 games I can see being f'king huge to DL.

The backwards compatibility on the 80's gb models are Software emulated. So there is no Hardware based emulation like the 60gb models and first batch of 80's. I'm pretty sure he's adding backwards compatibility by borrowing the software codings from the 80 gb models to all other models.

I picked up wkc as well, installing game data right now. Hows the game so far? I was shocked how bad the rating was given by ign... a 5.1 was really like damn harsh. They had high hopes for this game being a crazy game since it was made by Level 5 which made dragon quest and stuff. i love the airdrops in this game, and how enemies can shoot you down while airborne. Sniping is very fun too. Haven't had any single problems with connection and the lobby fills up almost instantly. +1 for PSN for once.

haven't unlocked 256-player games yet...but 128 is already getting kinda messy. and the vehicle feels very clunky and the camera sucks. I also hate how if you're incapped it counts as one death.

Last thing, the graphics is poor. Too bad it doesn't have killzone 2 graphics. This game isnt comparable to MW2 but the latter is obviously the better game.

I think the 8/10 it's been getting is well-deserved. I don't see this game being popular after 3 months as everyone will inevitably switch to bad company 2

So I just tried the heavy rain demo and thought it was a pretty awesome game..

Not the game for everyone (probably due to lack of action) but definetly a game worth checking out.

Heres what I thought:
-Quite slow paced
-No loading time in the game (except when you switch from 1 character to another)
-Graphics are on par with Uncharted 2 (and maybe even better)
-Mystery/Thriller element behind the story that makes you want to play it
-Very Realistic

jsut to let u guys know in WKC, theres only about 11 quests u can do up to guild rank 6.
you have to get to gr7 AND beat the game, it will open up about 20 new missions.
so it looks like i have to catch up on my single player....

Single player for this game is super short. Somewhat disappointing =O
I'm a lazy gamer and I finished it in about 15-20 hours.

Grr... It's going to take years for WKC2 to come out considering the delays for this one. LoL =3

So I popped in Uncharted 2 for the first time thinking sweet let's do this shit, half hour later I'm still waiting for this fucking update to finish, it's like over 200mb and it's taking forever...maybe my Internet sucks or something but damn, gone are the days of putting in a new game and it just plays right away?

ill do some quest with you online, but getting to lvl 50 will be a real grind fest.. no joke...

WKC2 is scheduled to be release in japan this year... hopefully we will get it next spring...

hahaha it reminds me of the optional bosses in FF...
i was with a party of 3 other lvl40+ ppl and all our combos didn't even scratch the boss, we all had to spam heal to stay alive and when we ran out of MP we all died...

Even the normal one requires spamming heals.

same, probably this weekend. All the first batch of ps3 editions are divine editions. I wonder if they will make all the batches after that normal or keep them all divine? they're probably doing this to get as many sales as possible before god of war 3 comes out
