Hasn't it always been this way? GH3 guitar has always worked with RB on Xbox. It just doesn't work the other way around.


XBOX has always had GH Les Paul compatibility with Rock Band. Numerous updates happened for RB on the PS3 to try to get GH guitar compatibility, but nothing was successful until recently.

There's obviously been a lot of question on cross compatibility of RB/GH ware, so there is this handy matrix (http://www.joystiq.com/Instrument-Compatibility-Matrix/).

Also MGO World Championship was held yesterday in Japan TGS 2008.. the match was intense. The players got so many sick stuff and many celebs were there. I participated in the NA bracket, and made it into single bracket elimination but didn't get into 1st or 2nd place =( Only 1st and 2nd place teams gets to go to Japan with cash and go to japan for world final.

I'm still on 1st level of MGS1 as we speak..still trying to adjust to the 1998 graphics :haha: Man, MGS1 graphics sucks compare to Half-Life and that came out in the same year.

I'm kind of sad that MGO for MGS3 is offline now..i wanted to try that before experiencing Guns of Patriot's MGO.

MGO on MGS3 is essentially the same. in fact the earlier MGO was just a test to see how the MGS gameplay would work transitioning to online gaming..

from what i read on some forums, the headset bundle will be in limited quantities.. Sony will only ship them and then eventually stop when the headset stand alone product actually comes out, which will be beginning or mid november for $50

so for $60 with socom.. this is a good deal.. to those people like me who dont own a decent quality blue tooth headset because i dont use them for my cell...

anyways wtf is up with the game installer, mine didnt start installing til 15 mins after i click yes to install it

and now im downloading the first firmware update for the Socom game which is taking ficking forever because their server is being jammed by people who bought the game today..

well the servers are back up

its a sweet game but the learning curve is pretty steep....even if you try to customize the controls..

this is definitely not a run and gun type of shooter.. which is something i like... slow and tactical

the game modes are all focus on goal oriented task.. search and destroy, protect hostages etc...

there is a team deathmatch but its like the last of the game mode..

the headset is confusing in the beginning to pair up but the quality is great.. this also increases the usage of voice chat on all ps3 games thats for sure... which is a good thing...

the maps are huge, even for 32 players.. which is also a good thing because it slows things down....

4 out of 5 game modes have no respawn rule, which shows you that this is team base tactical game..

It's more of the slower reaction than 3rd person shooter that annoyed me. I had no problem with Gear

in fact, the thing I hated most is the aiming. That really killed it for me.

Socom plays more close to MGS than GRAW

although the shooting is more defined and feel natural like FPS.. MGO feels like nothing more than MGS gameplay enforced online....

but its no COD........ all guns have terrible recoil, you cant spray.. strategically burst shots is ideal....

u can jump but u cant dodge, you can go in a prone position and walk like in MGS, you can also crawl...

just to simply put, this is a slower type of shooter, its no COD.. either u b patient and attack with hesitant...

just play the game like how u would behave in real life.. stick to one of ur comrades....

im tryin to figure out if there is a cover system to pick through corners or not.. i saw on screenshots but i cant do it in game

this game is essentially better than MGO imo.. MGO was made for MGS hardcore fanbase... which guys like me and Oshin really like..

SOCOM : Confrontation is amazing!!! :thumbsup: especially because i've been playing it online since the original SOCOM 1!!! *-Mclaren-*
its sooo much faster and the graphics are well...stunning! :love: and they re-did a lot of the original maps from SOCOM 2 and 3 which makes it a lot more fun!
main server is still a little shaky and the ranking system is being reworked, but soon enough it will be fixed!

HIGHLY recommend picking it up, tons of people are already online and its only $60 WITH the headset, so even if your just in it for the headset its a good deal.

The game looks good, plays good. By action game standards its incredibly long. It has unlockable outfits. Really awesome beasts to ride. The parry/evade system works beautifully. But my only complaint is that the combo system is not as in-depth as it should be. That and the game could really use a steady framerate. So while the game is not GOTY material it definitely gets the job done. Its really sad that this game has been marred by the IGN review. Lair is down from $25 to $15 now...... im talking about pre owned copies of course......... and there are reason their prices have gown down to toilet.. because ppl keep exchanging them for something better.. so stores ends up having tons of stock

i dont know how you guys can shell out $60 for games just judging by a game fanchise, with no online implementation, or that only last 6 hours in gameplay..

and iv given up on Socom, until they release the next patch.. since yesterday, my average time in the game would be just under 20 mins until i either get booted back to the xmb, or the game freezes

The only real MUST-HAVE exclusives for PS3 are Metal Gear Solid 4 (which will probably end up on 360 by the end of next year anyway) and LittleBigPlanet.

Other than that, it depends on what type of game you like to play.

i havent tried sniping in the game yet because im one of the unfortunate fucks who can barely get more than 3 minutes of gaming on any server until either the game freezes on me or i get booted back on the xmb...

the servers are much more stable than the first 3 days of launch.. its just that the problem with majority of the ppl playing socom right now are the freezing issues during game chat, or anything random actually..

the patch should be coming out soon, hope this weekend...

if you crouch down to the ground and try to use the scope to snipe, ur view is still in 3rd person but set in FPS.. basically its like u get pulled back from the sight behind ur guy in 3rd person, and aiming at something is completely off..

LBP is a platformer..

u need to look at the background of the game to know what the hype is about

but to sum it up in general.. people are looking forward to the user created levels that anyone can make and upload to the global server.. that is the main reason for the HYPE

LBP's gameplay is indeed a platformer, it cant get any simpler than that, any old school gamers who played 2d mario, or Sonic, or DKC would appreciate the gameplay this game has, collecting things on levels, solving puzzles, find hidden path etc... there is a single player gameplay with several levels, but its more of an introduction by developers to give anyone ideas, on how to make their levels..

its a simple game.. but this one is a gem.. look at the youtube vids for the gameplay, if you like what you see, pick it up, if you think its too simple and not worth ur $60 then no loss.... official game reviews for the game will also tell you the same thing..

We are happy to announce that the SOCOM: Confrontation 1.20 Update will be released on Wednesday, October 29th, at 1200 GMT/UTC (8am EDT, 5am PDT, 1pm BST, 9pm JST).

The SOCOM: Confrontation 1.20 update addresses the following issues:

* Fixed many issues which would cause the game to crash, hang, disconnect and exit to the PS3 XMB.
* Fixed an issue which would cause large numbers of players in a high player count game to be simultaneously disconnected.
* Fixed an issue which would cause players to be invincible.
* Fixed a physics issue which would cause players to occasionally "warp" around on the map.
* Fixed an issue where a "corrupt save data" message would be incorrectly displayed after updating the game.
* Fixed some player model issues related to team swapping.
* Client/server optimization.
* Fixed an issue where the scope camera had an incorrect offset from the barrel of the gun while prone or leaning/peeking.

For players who have already downloaded and installed the 1.10 update, the 1.20 update is only ~50MB in size. For new players, the size is the 1.10 update plus the 1.20 update which is ~550MB.

The main purpose of this update is to address major stability and playability issues with the game. The stability of the game has been greatly improved with the 1.20 update. There are still a few low frequency issues which we are continuing to look into and will be addressed in a future update.

We are reading player feedback in the forums and will be making future changes to the game based on that feedback. Please keep the feedback coming.

im stuck near one of the last levels where there is a wheel spinning and ur inside, and you have to jump from platform to platform and avoid getting electricuted

damn, the developers does a good job of making some of levels really challenging.. but moving and jumping is still not right.. they need to fix this..

aparently the skirmish games are more fun because ur 30 player team is divided for certain task to destroy something in the map area.. while the others defend.. well balance as both teams will b defending and attacking..

its no cod4.. and its definitely more fast pace than socom....... at least this game has no lag whatsoever..

there is also levelling system, unlike the rank system in cod4, this feels more of rpg simulation levelling.. u unlock stuff for every level..

its good if u like mindless shooting for online multiplayer..

SVR09 is exactly the same as the psp version.. without the fancy graphics like wrestler sweat etc...

and nobody plays online with wrestling games anyways.. trust me, despite this year's SVR is focus on online co op tag team, its not gonna last..

i just dl'ed SVR '09 for psp, and yes they fix the load times this year.. its the same, if not quicker than the console versions.. and everything is the same

so if u hav a psp with custom firmware, settle with this version instead..

like all the reviews have said, this does hav a WoW feel to it (although i dont play WoW so i wouldnt know) because you will be dependent on other classes from ur teammate...

someone heals, someone can give ammo, and someone can go full assault

now its a level grinding process.. and another thing to note about is the level ranking is seperate from cooperative, and competitive

meaning dont expect to play cooperative and get as much exp, so u can unlock weapons and armors to use for the big 60 player team matches,

u unlock weapons for cooperative only.. much like u unlock weapons for competitive only if u play competitive..

now the big team deathmatches can be tricky too, u can only level up from ranked matches, which u have to use the option to "play". and not use "find game" as this will just give u results of user hosted matches...

I called Sony and they charge an arm and a leg to get it fixed. I searched online for a fix and I tried taking out the hard drive, etc.

Any help? Anybody know a place around GVR that I could bring it to get it fixed?

id say that if u were to compare R2 to COD4 online multiplayer, R2 is definitely generic.. it will get lost in the shuffle easily..

with 60 players running around in one map, it can get really really chaotic.. the weapons are cool enough to do the game justice as some of them are pretty unique..

the game is fun, IMO its good enough for me.. again if u read the other reviews, its going to b either you love it or hate it type of game.. its pretty much the same feel as R1..
the server is very much active.. like thousands of people are playing.. . there is plenty of game servers to choose from

im skipping COD WaW.. i dont like WW2 settings and seeing that its pretty much is the same as COD4 in terms of online gaming, thats why i picked up R2 as an alternative..

it's not the hard drive problem.. it's the PSU.. search youtube for a fix.. you have to swap the psu.. how you gonna do it.. i dun wanna know..

You don't get charged taxes when you upload funds into your wallet. When I uploaded $10 to my wallet, my credited card was charged $10, no taxes

Yes it will play fine...although people say you won't notice the 1080p resolution unless your display is over 40 inches...

If it's anything like other downloaded games, then all accounts should have access to it. You may even be able to use your account to login to someone else's PS3 to download the game to their system. It's worked with the things I've tried so far, like The Last Guy, and Rock Band tracks.

You can transfer files over 4gb to the ps3. Install a program called Red Kawa File Server on your PC. You can then share whatever directory you want on your PC.

You then start up your PS3, open the internet browser, type in the ip address of your computer and you will have a directory listing of your pc directories. Go to the desired directory, press triangle>Save Target As. You can now copy anything over 4gb to the ps3 hard drive or an external drive if you have it connected.

I use it when I'm too lazy to connect up my external usb drive to my PC. I have it connected to my ps3 at all times. It holds all my movies, tv shows.

Months of that happening and boom, he called me telling he was playing RB2 and it just cut out. No freezing nothing, then as he restarted it he got the Yellow light of death. Drove over to Coq centre repair depot and got nailed for like $160 plus tax since he bought his nearly 1.5 years ago. Im guessing all the dust totally smothered it and caused it to overheat.

On another note, I got R2 also like 3 weeks ago and I have to say it isnt nearly as fun as COD WaW. I havent touched it since. LBP on the other hand is amazingly fun, two friends can play on one system at his house and im at home with friends at my house and we can all play online maps and do story mode. SO fun

My answer to this..others may find it dumb. I don't use one. My ps3 came with 4 USB Connections on the front of it (first gen 80gb), so I decided to have all my movies and tv shows on external USB drives sitting neatly on my av rack next to my ps3.

I download only high quality rips and have ripped my whole dvd collection to the drive already.

Rarely do I leave my computer up and running all the time and I didn't want to depend on the computer to be on for watching movies. With the prices of external hard drives I just found it worth it.

1TB drives can hold A LOT of media as we all know. If I'm using 4 of those that's a shit ton of movies. I can sit down, use the PS3 Media remote control and watch any movie any time.

I found with TVersity you lose some quality sometimes.

If you do want to use a USB drive, it has to be formatted for FAT32 (as I'm sure it's been discussed in this thread, I didn't read the whole thing). Use a program called Swiss Knife to format it. It can be found here:

Use this along with Red Kawa File server (link in above post) to copy over movies, music, pictures to your ps3.

The Superdrive Fan mode is done by turning off your system. Once it's off, flip the switch in the back to off. Hold down the eject button and turn on the switch. Some people say it cleans it out, some people say it damages it. I personally haven't tried it.

I've thought of using that as well but come to think of it, I rather not use it because it can force dust into places where it would normally not go (i.e.; into spaces in moving parts where there is no usual access).. I'm just using a swiffer duster to sweep it around the vent area and the top 3-4 times a week.

I think it would be a better idea to vacuum the vents to pull the dirt out, rather than push them in with an air compressor. I recently vacuumed my wife's laptop and the temperature went down by like 10 celsius. The fan used to always run at high speed, but now it never does.
