i honestly dont know what else to tell you, you have a "unique" perspective and opinion on games..

DMC is an action game, nothing more, to put any more tactics and strategy in the game, its pretty much like NG, u just gotta kick ass.. dodge stuff, shoot, slash etc.... and upgrade

if you find the DMC series on ps2 and the demo not exciting, then dont bother with the actual game......

but if you like action games, this one looks like a kick ass one..

i heard Turok is an ok game, the multiplayer is mediocre and the game is short.... and its not like Turok from n64, there are no cool weapons like that chainsaw bullet that digs out enemie's brains...

DMC4 is supposed to have the deepest, most diverse fighting system since Ninja Gaiden. It goes so far beyond 'one button to slash' that I think you probably haven't played much more than the 10 minute intro level... Keep playing, the fighting system is incredibly deep.

so far i am still playing Nero's part, its not that hard yet, but i was playing Ninja Gaiden(ninja's the 2nd last mission is fucking hard ass btw) right before this, so i get confused on the bottoms sometime haha.

2/3 of blu-ray movies are region free. but you should check before you buy. you should be ok with a canadian blu-ray on a taiwan ps3 since they are under the same region code A

blu-ray region goes in A, B, and C not quite the same as DVD region coding

ur always guaranteed to get ur game thurs afternoon if not on wed..


i would probably go through the same process when MGS4 comes out and hunt for the game on the week's release, despite knowing stores probably wont get it til later in the week:rofl:

I just sold my xbox360 and I'm going to jump on the ps3 bandwagon!! So I hear that the PS3's cell processor has changed and that the PS3 will be physically shrinking in size. I'm not sure I should wait until the newer PS3s come out or to just bite the bullet and buy one now. There's no games I really want at the moment so I'm not in any rush. What do you guys think??

It really depends on the size of the game. If you want the system and don't need the frills on the 80gb just get the 40Gb and if you find it is not large enough down the road just upgrade the HDD. I have had a 20Gb model since launch and recently upgraded my HDD to 160Gb.

But that's because I don't own any PS3 games and simply using the console as a BD player.

DMC4 requires a 5G installation, and if this becomes the norm for future PS3 games, it may be an issue as it will annoy the hell out of you, eg you want to play DMC4 again in maybe 2 months since the last time you beat it, you will have to either reinstall it and wait for the good 21 mins, or keep the 5G install files on your HDD.

You can't; your 40GB PS3 lacks Emotion Engine and Graphics Synthesizer (PS2's processor and GPU respectively). Therefore, you'll never get to see a PS2 game run on your system successfully.

Looking into buying a PS3 basically just for the Blu Ray player. but I do have one question, will it play burned DVD/CD's? Or do you have to chip it like the PS2? I choose the Ps3 over a standard player just because I do like to play Rockband and GH on occasion. But really, if it won't play burned items, it's not worth it to me.

It should play burned DVD's and will definitely play burned CD's (and MP3s, not to mention streamed MP3s) but not copied Blu-Ray movies or games

But why you would get a PS3 to play crappy quality DVD's I don't understand...

Heavenly Sword is an exercise in button mashing. Seriously, I just randomly hacked at the controller and won except for those super annoying missions where you have to somehow guide arrows or cannonballs with the SixAxis.

but other than that, it really depends of how u can justify how much u will pay for the game, i found it really short when i bought it new when it came out


if you can find it used for $30 to $40, then its good, but otherwise, paying full price wont justify the length of the game..

Fighting games are tough to create a good online environment, especially when the hitting mechanism is based on a frame by frame analysis, such as VF.

It should really means 1*DS3 instead of 3 DS3.

It wouldn't make any sense in packing 3 controllers with a 80G and a game for $499. Sony will take a BIG hit if they are doing that.

It's really not that bad to use the remote especially if you never used the controller to control a movie before. I tried using the controller for movies when I first got my PS3 and just did not find it very intuitive to use at all. I grabbed a bluetooth remote as soon as they came out and really liked it as everything that you will need is well laid out on the device. Plus, you get use to it very quickly, at least I did.

i just like the feel of shooting the weapons, you really do feel a threat when ur being shot at as well

I bought a 40GB PS3 a couple of weeks ago mainly for the Blu-ray and the video streaming capabilities.

I have a file server that I stream movies, pictures and music to a modded XBOX with XBMC loaded on it. It does a fantastic job as a media extender. I have been playing with the PS3 for a while now and I set up Windows Media Player 11 sharing as well as TVersity on my file server and so far its been OK.

TVersity seems to play more of my movies (which is weird considering all my movies are XVID/AVI's) but the start up time is very slow due to the encoding. Windows Media Player is a lot quicker to start and will actually pass through the 5.1 audio stream but it is limited to the type of files it can play.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a better interface/program that will play a majority of the movie formats...namely .mkv's, pass through AC3, and is not bogged down by the encoding process? I know I am asking a lot but I everytime I CANT stream some video on my PS3 i find myself missing my XBMC more and more. :(

I'm using Nero MediaHome and its startup is faster than Tversity. It can also play it all including MKV and 5.1 audio.

The PS3 is very finicky in what it plays and what it doesn't, so naturally, some MKV files will play, while some won't.
There isn't one reason why some work and some don't, but here's something you can do to increase your chances. Download a program called: mkv2vob and convert your MKV file to a VOB (a full length HD movie will be done in about 3 minutes, as it's not really decoding -> re-encoding). You will lose your subtitles (unless it's hard coded into the movie)

The other minor annoyance with Nero MediaHome is it needs Nero Scout to work, which is an indexing program. So it's an extra program that needs to be run in the background, and the initial index takes a long time if you have lots of media files. If the file doesn't get indexed, it won't show, so it has to be done.

PS: movies encoded with AC3 5.1 seem to work better. Movies encoded with AAC appear to have a higher failure rate.

My PC is nowhere near my living room, so that's why i'd rather stream it over the network. I'm in the process of building a media PC from scrap parts, but I'm short a video card with HDMI and soundcard that can connect to my 5.1. But eventually, it'll be connected to my TV directly.

There's 40GB, 60GB, and 80GB.
I think the 80GB was the only one that was backwards compatible, but I remember reading that they have now phased out the backwards compatibility with new PS3 models.

Wait 2 more months for the MGS4 bundle..it will be worth it. This is your best bet since you want compatibility with the 60GB phased out. Pre-order it. You're not missing out on anything in the mean-time, well maybe a month of GTA4:)

wtf?!?!?!
it's like a destruction derby out there....You get people using the car in front of them to stop and then you get idiots riding the walls blowing past you. I played about 15 races online, in hopes to get one clean race in with no luck. There are always the handful of idiots.
haha that's what I've been hearing too. I will wait like a month or 2 when those assholes leave the game so I can play with other clean GTfan racers. And no voice chat/friend invite FTL!

Wait 2 more months for the MGS4 bundle..it will be worth it. This is your best bet since you want compatibility with the 60GB phased out. Pre-order it. You're not missing out on anything in the mean-time, well maybe a month of GTA4:)

Devil May Cry 4 is f'n gay. 95% of the time you don't get to play anything since it's all goddamn cutscenes and when you do, it's all button mashing and running around. I admit the boss fights are pretty awesome but goddammit...missing those stupid jump points and then having to clear a room again is fucking lame.

i automatically made my decision to get GTA4, as soon as i heard about the multiplayer options

its not that which console has better online experience for me, its just that, i still have most of my buddies own a 360 more than a ps3...


plus microsoft has settled exclusive DLC episodes for it, although im pretty sure those downloadable content wont be free,..

but anyways, i picked up GT Prologue at Superstore, PC points FTW!!

i had like $100 worth of points sitting on my PC mastercard, so i figured, i might as well use some of it, so technically, i got the game for free, just depends on how you look at it. lol

Prologue is an overexpanded demo, thats pretty much it, however, its still a good experience apprecating how beautiful the game already is, and expected to improve as next year's release..

i cant really say that online will make this game ur reason to buy, considering, majority of your races are indeed destruction derbies..

but there is enough content to justify, however much your paying for the game.. if ur a huge car and gaming enthusiast, then the $40 price tag is right for you.. the advantage of getting a retail copy is you get an extra documentary on the game, compared to getting the downloaded version on PSN

it's possible it's not up on their website for pre-ordering, but you'll have to manually look for it.
I couldn't even use the search function to find GTA IV! I had to manually go through their site to find it.

PS3 and 360 have similar capabilities, it really comes down to controller choice and which console the majority of your friends have.

As for the DLC, even if the 360 has a huge lot, it is going to cost an arm and a leg to get it. I am guessing 1500 points at the very least:o

Yeah i've been practicing for the last couple of games. Last 2k basketball game i played was nba 2k5. I was able to pretty much steal the ball anytime I wanted and blow past the defender, that isnt working so well in this game :(

are u talking about chinatown? i played a game of teamdm on it last night and the respawns were brutal. basically only spawned in the same alley 10x while the enemy stayed there and fucked us up with nades
