Since there is a Wii community thread, i figiured i might as well as open a thread up for the PS3, because today is the day i step into the dark side and welcome into the PS3...while my Wii gets put aside sucking dust until Mario games are released :P

look here for some quick reviews of games, inital reactions you guys might have, or just wanna talk about it.



Anybody knows how to get online?¢×know for the Wii it just simply detects itself (i got wireless router) and it got connected to the internet just like tat.


Now today while i was tryin to hook up the wireless it said i might need cord cable to plug from my wall to the PS3¡]came with it) i thought its wireless wifi? am i missing something here? why didnt it detect my wireless router like the Wii?


So far im very impressed with the RIdge racer 7. And this is coming from a guy who finished over 60% of RIdge racer 6 on xbox-360. THe RR7 on the PS3 allows u to modify the vehicle a bit...and its more challenge than the 360 version. Resistance is alrit....gears of war is definitely better..
Felt it was a little bit overated? IGN.com gave it a 9.1/10?? i think its more like a 8 - 8.5/10 game

So most of my gameplay time still goes to the Wii and 360 :)

i just plugged one of my spare rj45 cables from my router into my PS3. At that point I played with some settings in the menu and I had internet connection. Go into the menu's and play around, you'll get it as it is not that hard to do.

I will be getting F1 when it is released on the 28th (i believe that is the launch date). This is the first game since launch that I have been excited about for the PS3 as I am a big fan of racing games and I love F1 racing. The demo was pretty good too.

All i have is Resistance and i refuse to play the game, i have one of those older HDTVs that only support 480p and 1080i.. and Resistance looks crap in 480p...

I rented Ridge Racer the other day, looks nice running on 1080i, but still dissapointed with the graphics..

I mostly use my ps3 for Blu ray, until a decent game with 1080i support comes out.. or fix the scaling issues..

Has anyone picked up the Blu Ray remote? how is it?

I have the F1 2006 game in Japanese, pretty interesting but hella hard, but it's the last F1 game with Schmey in it so I had to buy it

scaling issues have been fixed as far as i'm aware. get the latest sytem update. i think they've released 1.51 so far

the 360 has a scaling chip that allows for those who doesnt have certain resolutions on their tv to be upscaled to much more suited resolution.. considering how the 360 came out a year earlier, why didn't Sony included the scaling chip on theirs..

majority of the games out for ps3 right now only supports up to 720p resolution.... without the upscaling chip, all games that i play for ps3 in my HDTV is displayed in DVD quality.. not HD quality.. 480p...

Game reviewers even doubted that Sony couldn't solve this downscaling issue through firmware updates......... but im crossing my fingers..

that's really weird. When I bought resistance, I had the video output to 1080i, and when i loaded the game, it told me it played at 720p, but it scaled it to 1080i

So picked up my PS3 couple days ago, i have total of 4 games.

So far i have experienced 2 times with the Ridge Racer 7..than when i load it up the game..

it will have the Ridge racer music/sound at the begining of the main page once its inside the game not at the PS3 menu interface. I hear the music..blah blah but no screen!! like absolutely nth..just pitch black

And i will have to reset my PS3 and it works fine.

Now my question is this the game itself tats having this trouble? or my PS3?
because all my other games did not encounter this problem, only when i tried to load up the Ridge racer 7

Im thinking taking my RR7 into the store i purchased and tell them to give me a new one??

perhaps it's issue with ur router? sometimes my router after a few days doesn't assign any ip to my computer and i have to reset the router ~ but so far i have no prob with the ps3~

Try reading the instruction manual for both systems. I had problems doing updates with the Wii and PS3.

The Wii's manual recommends Channel 1 or 11 for your Wifi router. The default on my Linksys is 6. I switched to 1 and the Wii and PS3 works fine, but my sister's wifi card on her computer didn't work. So I tried 11 and all is well.

at my house...it only worked once..rest NOPE! IP address not detected.....yet my Wii sits RIGHT next to it...gets the internet instantly..

Any game that is out for more than one system will be better on the XBOX 360 for the next few years. That is the main console developers are using, and from there they port over to PS3 and Wii.

for some reason when i put in my usb flash, the ps3 detects it but doesnt detect the mp4 files i put on it.

any ideas what could be wrong? when i transfer the file wirelessly it can view it. But I don't want to go that route since I have a wireless B connection so its slow.

You need to use a certain directory format for the PS3 to read properly. I don't know about music, but for video, it has to be in root/VIDEO/file and the file name cannot have spaces.

Furthermore, the drive must be formatted as FAT32 or FAT; the PS3 cannot read NTFS partitions.

Open your Disk Manager and find out :)

Or go to the partition properties (My Computer > right click on the drive, go to Properties), it should say there.

From the demo i thought it was pretty retarded.. Bought Formula One instead... This seems like more of a challenging game where it will feel like you accomplished something if you get good at it.. Motorstorm just feels like if you memorize the jumps and shortcuts, you can do well.

i got all my photos, music and videos into the WMP11 library, and i have media sharing on, my PC detects my PS3 and my PS3 can see the media server, but when i open the folders, it say there are no video/image/music files

just the standard JPG, MPG and MP3!! i was already trying with files that are standard!!!

both my MCE and my Desktop can see the PS3 and my PS3 can see them. but NONE of them can see the shared files

not even between the MCE and Desktop. neither can my xbox see the files.

I haven't tried God of War yet (it has an in-game widescreen setting) I've been playing Chaos Legion and the sides are squished in now. it used to have 2 black bars on the side like 2 inches thick, now it's like 5 inches thick on both sides.

hmm eb does price match on games. just not the hardwares. you don't really need to have a flyer to do a pricematch cause they'll call fs or bs for you to confirm a price if you don't have the flyers with you ~ at least that's the case in coquitlam and lougheed ~ dunno about the other stores

It depends on the subject matter. For fast moving scenes like sports and video games, definitely DEFINITELY a progressive stream is required. However, for slow moving scenes in dramas, etc, then interlaced can be fine, allowing a higher screen resolution.

just beware that the game was made for pure hardcore gamers....... and i do mean hardcore gamers, the difficulty in this game is top notch.... and no, there is no option for you to set the difficulty..

i played the game back in '04 and i gave up on it, well not because im not a gamer or nethin else, but the difficulty on this game is just insane... one particular boss alone got me through 15 tries the most..

Yes it is. Most rear-projection CRT HDTVs only support 480p and 1080i. It's the PS3 that doesn't support 1080i because the 360 sure does.

Games only run in progressive mode (60 Hz). So if you have a proper HDTV (1080p, 720p) games will run in HD. Otherwise, you will be stuck with 480i upconverted by the TV to 1080i.

But my point is, even 1080i on those old/cheap sets are upconverted anyway, so anyone who is complaining should just go buy a new TV if they don't like it.

most likely that scam works like this. They say that you get free gaming system for free withthe purchase of a computer. the catch is that this offer is probably only good while supplies of gaming systems lasts. So, theoritically they could just tell you when you come in that they have run out of PS3's but they have a really nice $1200 computer for you to look at.

Future shop got in trouble a long time ago for using "bait and switch" tactics on advertised products at crazy prices but when you got to the store the items were sold out but more expensive alternatives were available.

unless ur tv is like mine, u probably get downgraded to 480p if ur tv doesnt support 720p....... and only 1080i, ps3 doesnt have an upconverting system internally,

yea but the game says it plays in 720p AND 1080i. My PS3 video output is set at 1080i with 720p as a the second choice. All the other games look flawless on my monitor.

anyways, I just picked up warhawk today, gonna try it out tonite, but you have to pair the headset with your PS3 first. If you have it set up properly, you just have to press L3 to talk to your teammates

ya i finally got my headset working


i have to say, Warhawk is a great online game, except its a little week on on foot characters, also there is only like a number of guns........ all adds up to about 5 or 7 i think..


the actual plane dogfighting really makes up for it... its a really good game for what i paid for... $35,

just like the reviews at 1up.com, i would have hated this game if i paid the full price of $60 or $70....

also be prepared because controlling ur character, tanks and plane are slightly different with the button configurations, iv played the game a total of 4 hours and im still trying to get used to flying the damn warhawks...

the only thing u can adjust in this game is the invert axis on wether u want ur analog stick to control like an actual plane or the regular push the analog button down to go down thingy


also the sensitivy in aiming.... which is a really big help.. and the sixaxis motion control for the vehicles

other than that u stuck with controls.....

u control the plane with boost being R2 and slowdown/brake L1, R1 is for ur gunners and L1 is for ur rockets....

the left analog stick controls ur path and ur aim and the right analog stick gives u the control to spin ur plane

im already a good total of 10 hours of playing this game and im still not used to flying around...

really i thought sony solved this down conversion problem with firmware 1.80

i dont know whats the deal because the 1.80 firmware update upconverts all ps2 games to whatever ur tv resolution supports

so if they can do that with the ps2 games, its only a matter of time til sony gets a software running where all games can be displayed in 1080i............ gawd i need a new tv... 1080p would look sooo much better..

if u go to the sony underground forums, one of the sony PR just announce that Sony is having problems with PSN...

rumour has it that Sony underestimated the popularity of Warhawk and right now the servers in the game are crashing.. i couldnt log in for the game the entire day.. too many people are buying and downloading Warhawk in PSN..

expect another official ps3 firmware to be released this thurs after the 1.92 or an in game update to fix their bugs and glitches
