holy smokes!! Batman: Arkham City is awesome!! The controls feel a bit better although there are some similarities. I really like the fact you can glide and grapple onto something pretty much at any point. Catwomen is kind of cute. Rekindled my love with Batman after hating at it all week for not getting those freeflow trophies in Batman: Arkham Asylum.

I need some advice on how to transfer my saved game data onto a new PS3

-I have an original 20gig ps3
-the hard drive was getting full, so I swapped in a 60gig SSD, transferred the info over using a 16gig thumb drive
-this PS3 has failed on me 3 times now, I "fixed" it a couple times with the heat gun, it doesn't last.
-I just bought a new 320gig PS3


So what is the best way to get my saved games/info on to my new PS3?
-do I need to "fix" my old one again so I can use the thumb drive to transfer?
-can I just put the SSD into my new PS3 -> transfer info to thumb drive -> put 320gig drive back in -> transfer thumb drive to new hard drive
-should I just put the 60gig SSD in and call it a day? until it gets full..
-is the new PS3 going to try and format any drive I put into it?

you will need to fix it again...and hope it can run for a few hours

then you can connect your old one then use transfer utility under settings ( i think that's what it's called)...it will move all your saves/themes/settings to your new PS3 through an ethernet RJ-45 cable...even the saves that are locked so that's why usb flash drive option probably wont work.

No, haven't heard of that. I just followed instructions about heating the board up, both sides/keep it flat/20 seconds of circular motion with the heat gun

I take it there is a better way?

You need to use loads of no clean flux or it won't hold, having too much can't hurt anything so go overkill. I also heat it for a lot longer, usually 3-4 minutes moving in big loops over both chips. On that front your safer lowballing on the heat since you can always do it again (within reason), but if you go way overkill on the heat you can nuke the chip and then you're hooped.

The quality hasn't changed a whole lot, if yours is backwards compatible and you don't need that feature I'd say sell it because the BC ones (used) sell for about the same as a new slim. Otherwise, you can sell if you want the piece of mind and a new warranty, or you can keep it (likely for a long time) and postpone needing a new one (if nothing else til they price goes down or you see a sweet bundle).

I really need to make writeups on my PS3 and 360 methods and get them stickied on here...

Yeah, the dialogue is lacking in a lot of places, especially the SnowxSerah interaction, they haven't seen each other in like 2-3 years and it's like "oh hey" "what's up?" considering the way they were in xiii. I'm doing fragments as well, pretty confusing with all the eras for each place. =S

Anyone play The Walking Dead game? I've been playing it for the last couple of hours. Pretty good game; reminds me of Heavy Rain. Like the TV show, there isn't a lot of action in this game, mainly storyline and relationships between characters.

Before you play the movie, to to settings make sure your PS3 isn't connected to the internet even wireless this prevents the audio watermark from being ID'd. This doesn't work if you already played the movie and cinivia already was detected.

nah, the Cell processor architecture was just too complex for most developers to work with..and it's really the lack of XDR ram

if you play GT5 you notice the visuals are amazing but the tire debris/smoke is blocky/pixelated..it's caused by the memory limitations.

microsoft also has the cash so that its usually the lead platform for developement...

that's my guess...consumers definitely aren't ready for 100% digital downloads and there's no other physical standard on the horizon that will take on blu-ray....hell blu-ray still isn't even mainstream and i don't think it ever will be

but knowing BDXL can support 128GB i'm 99% positive PS4 is also on blu-ray...whether or not it'll be backwards comptaible is hard to tell

I really can't wait for the next generation of consoles to hit. I only really play sports games like NBA, Fifa Madden and NHL.... but the game engines these companies have been using for these games are basically way back from the PS2 and Xbox era, just with enough sugarcoating to run in HD. I'm talking specifically the physics but even the graphics engines.
But when the new consoles come out their hands are going to be forced into creating brand new engines from the ground up and it will be glorious!

It's obviously a major jip, but understandable from their point of view as for companies like EA it's all about the bottom line of the dollars, it's costly to build a new engine even for a big company like them.

The immovable hair has always been a major laughing point, I mean it literally has been like this since the first days of the PS2 and Xbox, and remains unchanged to this day because obviously they can't change it with the limitations of the engines

Not sure if anyone still plays Street Fighter x Tekken on the PS3, but:

SFxT Costumes are free from what is supposedly a glitch. Go into the actual game store (not the Playstation Store) and go to Costumes ---> Grab Packs. There'll be something without a price tag, you can grab all 38 costumes for free through there.


Just downloaded it a few minutes ago and confirmed still working! It's worth about $10 for free. Sony dun goofed! :)

I do not have many platinum trophies but I constantly think about achieving many more.
I found the GOW series to be quite easy comparing to some others games that I have tried.
I had the hardest time trying to platinum the Batman games. I got frustrated and just left it alone as I don't want to ruin my Batman fun. I'd like to platinum GT5 but it takes forever with some of the long races.
I'm currently working on MGS4. I will be able to achieve the platinum trophy very soon, I just need to collect the last three emblems before my big boss extreme run.

Its fun driving at a race track but I've spent more at Mission and Portland raceway.
The steering wheel setup just makes the video game driving experience more enjoyable versus the regular controller.

GLOW, I'm not too sure about the budget wheel. I do not have any experience with the wheels that you mentioned but I'm sure you could get a good deal on a Logitech G25. I use a G25 and its a great wheel. I'm sure someone else who has more experience with other wheels can point you in the right direction. There is a thread on RS with a bit of information. I think it was called steering wheel setups? I'm not too sure. I'll try to find it.
If I were you, I would save your money until you can purchase a G25 or G27 its way better then anything else that's currently available.

I have it...huge upgrade over last year's model. Build quality is comparable to real headphones...but I would say the original is still an excellent bang for the buck on the classifieds (sold mine for $60)

Glow, dunt bother with the driving force gt. i got both g27 and driving force gt and the g27 trumps it 10:1. Imo dfgt is sort of a waste. The g27 is much smoother and everything just feels more crisp. I hear the porsche fanatec wheels are pretty solid too

i read reviews that said the DFGT was like a G25 so I wasn't sure. I see a few G25's/G27's on CL but they still seem pricy for me being in the $200 range. i'm scared i'd get a wheel and it'll collect dust :lawl:

I never really like the idea of the wheel stand pro. I personally wouldn't wanna use the wheel stand pro, instead I just mount the wheel onto a heavy ass table that's relatively low to the ground and sit on the floor to race. :okay:About the G25 feeling like the DFGT, I dunno man the force feedback seems to be much more pronounced in the G25. And god, the sound the dfgt drove me nuts when I was drifting courses in GT5 lol. Save up for the g25 man, you won't regret it :woot2:

Playseat Evolution is some what contractible. You can easily remove the part where the pedals and steering wheel sits in order to save some more space but I guess it wouldn't be ideal for those with small bedrooms.
My setup has been sitting in the corner of my living room collecting dust as I haven't been playing GT5 lately but I still use the seat everytime I turn the PS3 on. Racing seats are comfortable for me :p

I always used a controller and i often got bored because I thought i wasn't getting the whole experience.
Then I got the wheel and it was so much more fun.

since the consensus seems to be go the extra mile for G25/G27 i decided to get it off amazon.com when it was on sale for $199. i'll have to homebrew a cheap stand to make it easy to bring out and put away. i've been looking at some ikea hacks, saw one with a laptop table....anyone have any good cheap hax for a table/setup?

This is exactly what happened to me haha. Bought a G27 when GT5 came out, used it for a total of less than 10 hours. And it's been put away in a box since the last time we had a RS GT5 meet.

It's ok. Not worth 59.99 though. Same mechanics as smash brothers but theres no life bars or ring outs. In order to kill someone, you have to hit them
with a super bar move. I got my copy for $10 after doing a trade 2 using cod mw 3 which I bought on craigslist for $10 and having someone give me Skyrim for free :lol

i bought a bunch of 3months ps+ pass for 8.99 each.. i mean it's not too bad considering they have a bunch of ps vita games on there for free that i probably woulda ended up buying when they go on sale at one point or another.. works out to 36 bux for me for 1yr and i get a bunch of free games for it.. so why not.. even thoguh some games are dated but it's not that bad of a deal.

I think the PSN has 1 + 2 as a bundle at a cheap price. They're fun, give a bit of backstory as to why Kratos is so pissed, and just overall are worth it, even for maybe about 8 hours of game.

^ I don't think that's the solution. I remember my roommate wanted to transfer a profile for a game and he basically had to replay everything as you can't copy files over like you can on an Xbox. I think being on Playstation Plus can remedy this though?

yea I cant just sign into my old PSN account because I can't take that account back from my little bros since they have all their game achievements and online stuff for all their games under that account..

I just want to know if I'm able to take my old gamesave from that account and transfer it into my new Slim in my new account and be ok as far as the online aspect of Gran Turismo.... I'd hate to go try race online in GT with that game save and it tell me I'm unable to do so because it isn't mine

I booted up GT on my new PS3 and it failed saying "Trying to load another user's file"

now I must google away, because this is absolute bullshit.... I got all fuckin golds on every test, lol.... am not in the mood to go for it again

some saves are data protected if you try and copy it to USB drive/HDD
it's their way to make people sign up for PSN+ to take use of their cloud game save function
just use the data transfer utility with the network cables...it clones your old ps3 to your new one

I had that problem to. I had to make my ps3 profile name the same as my dads ps3, But im not sure if you would be able to go online as you would be using a new psn account.. I used the same account when i did mine

No it wasn't data protected, I was able to copy the files via USB stick. It's just when I go into the actual Gran Turismo game, start it up and a pop up comes on that gives me the error saying I'm trying to load another user's data.

So yea it's impossible apparently because game saves are locked to the original PSN accounts, you can't move them between different PSN accounts, and I understand why, it's to prevent cheating, but what about cases like mine? I'm totally fcked here, I even emailed Sony about it....
Thing is I created a new PSN account on my new system, so my old save data is locked to my old PS3 that my little brothers have. I would take back my old account but they have all their various games on there as well so I can't do that.

G-Spec... I hate to say it but you are pretty much SOL... my friend went thru the exact same situation as you did....the only was is to ditch ur new PSN account and clone your old PS3's profile.... Now I am not sure if the same PSN can sign on 2 diff PS3 at the same time...

1. System Settings > Backup Utility
2. Backup your full system on an external HDD, I have a total backup because I am paranoid about PS3 failing (still has the first gen JDM white console) I allocated 180GB FAT32 on my 3TB external....
3. System Settings > Data Transfer Utility
4. Connect 2 PS3s with the Ethernet cable and transfer away
5. After your new PS3 is fully functional...
6. Boot up your old PS3 and Recover the system from the backup you made in step one..

Not sure if this works.. but this way... you will technically have 2 PS3s running the same account... I think as long as you two are playing diff games maybe it will fly? dunno good luck

The only way I've been able to restore a GT5 backup was to use PS+ cloud saving feature. I did it when they gave everyone a free account.

IMO if you play a lot of games, PS+ is actually worth it.... anyway the next Playstation will probably require a paid account for online anyway. They made a huge mistake making it free with PS3.
