Well I ordered a full Yoshimura exhaust for the quad on tues and got a wonderful call this morning. It is here so I rushed after work to go get it. It is beautiful full stainless, didnt feel the need for titanium it is after all a offroad vechile. Wel the suzuki rep for the area found out what I ordered and popped the dealership and talked with the guys there. My setup with the new map sensor dooey makes a 7wheel hp gain. Thats huge given that the quad usually only dynos 36hp. So now my 450 quadracer should make 43hp. The ass dyno says it wails now and alot rev happy now.

replaced the pump, filter, injectors, fpr, maf, re-calibrated the tps and I've still got hesitation problems and cutting out when cold/warm this is gay.

new KYB struts, Suspension Techniques lowering springs, tie rod ends, and rear swaybar endlinks, along with the brakes bled and a fresh alignment. the front summers got put on til I can afford the rears as well. Now I think something is rubbing, almost sounds like my front brakes are not releasing fully. It's only noticable at higher speeds and still happens driving in s atraight line so I know it's not wheel rub, anyone have any suggestions what to check?

Check to see that your fender liners are all securely fastened. I had one partially loose once and I could only hear it rubbing at higher speeds when the air pressure blew it back against the tire.

good call, they're pretty loose, I'll check that out asap.

So I heard a REALLY funny joke today. Here goes: Today was dyno day to tune my GTR... do a few pulls start tuning it. Then the RB26 says, "Knock, knock, knock."
I'm like, "who's there?"
"Rod bearing."
....
........
............
Motherfucker.
Time for a rebuild.

Mods of tonight were:
Changed a leaking rear axle seal, which involved alot more than it should have for the $4.50 seal from ford that was the cause. Threw in some fresh 75w140 synthetic motorcraft fluid with a bottle of friction modifier.

Swapped out my tranny fluid, ATF just isnt right on a standard trans, plus it was making some noise. So I went with some AC Delco syncromesh with a bit of 80w90 to quiet things down.

Also, while I was inside the diff, I finally determined that I have a 3.73 axle ratio! No wonder the speedo is off so much, and highway cruising is alot higher rpm than it should be.

RRxtar 08-02-2008 06:07 PM

Brembo rotors and PBR pads on the back of the Heep today. old pads had less than 1mm of life left on them!

also oil change on the bike and general maintenance. AMSoil products for the win. the oil came out looking exactly how it went in 4000kms ago.

Engine out. What a fucking chore. Oh well, first time is always the hardest. Time to tear it down.

pulling thte engine is easy. putting it back is usually the problem

zumvette 08-03-2008 03:33 PM

LOL, the umm what does that plug into again?? taking pics helped alot for me, then you dont have to remember as much, haha.

Actually one thing I noticed is that no two electrical connectors are the same, aside from the injectors and coils. What I'm gonna do is drop the tranny out before putting in the engine. That'll make things way easier.

RRxtar 08-03-2008 03:44 PM

its not the electrical connections, its all the nuts and bolts that usually get me.

underscore 08-03-2008 04:43 PM

yeah we learned to use LOTS of ziplock bags and label them all.

zumvette 08-04-2008 04:18 PM

I figured it was because I was smarter than the designer that I had extra bolts, lol. If it holds with less bolts who is smarter?? haha.

Paddle tires getting mounted this week on new powder coated rims for the quad. Going to Hinton. Ill try and post pics of the new deadly setup. schwing.

Slo40 08-05-2008 12:30 PM

OK... I have a few mods of the day here

Mazworx Z32 trans, adapter kit, and one piece driveshaft
ACT street-lite flywheel and xtreme PP w/ 6 puck disk
Drive Shaft Shop level 2 650whp axles

Big Daddy 08-05-2008 04:56 PM

replaced front drivershaft in the truck, hammered a few bent metal pieces away from my rim, tried to figure out why my front axles will no longer engage...no luck :(

girlcrazy_420 08-05-2008 05:50 PM

The mazda does this nose-dive thing and goes hard left into the other lane when I use the brakes for some unknown reason. If i'm not holding the wheel, it'll keep spinning counterclockwise. I've replaced pads/rotors/wheel bearings and calipers and its still doing it. Hrm
