My contract is expiring in Febuaray, currently paying about 60 per month for 200 daytime mins, unlimited eves/weekends, caller id, 500 mb data...

Looking at a galaxy s2 lte..whats the best deal do you guys think I can get? Is it better to just wait for my contract to be over and see what I can get from retentions then?

type-j 12-27-2011 01:32 PM

My contract ended a couple of months ago and I've called them about 6 times now and each time they didn't offer me anything to stay and there best offer was the $70 unlimited text + 6gb data plan and basically told me that if I don't like their prices go to another carrier. And I've been with them for 6 years....bye bye douchbags!

Rogers prepping to rollout new cancellation policies January 2012, will bring "Bill 60" like changes across Canada | MobileSyrup.com

New cancellation procedure will be interesting, but I'm not too sure what will happen to those who are already on contract prior to Jan. 22

That'll be nice. You'll be able to sign up for promo deals without signing a contract if you already have a phone, and then they can't change shit on you.

tubbyboi 12-28-2011 08:00 AM

^^ those who sign their contract prior to that date will still be under the old cancellation terms. Its only customers that sign/Renew Jan 22nd or later

Phoned again a second time and my only needs were data (the more the better), text, and CID. I didnt want to extend another 3 years (which I would have to do with the 17.50 EPP) or else the EPP + 30gb of Data would be amazing.

Instead I opted for this:

$30 My10 (Retentions only) reg 34.35
$30 6GB Data
-5$ Data credit (Surprised I even got a credit)
8$ CID (Robbery)
$2.35 GRRF fee

= $65.35+tax

This is coming from this plan which ended prematurely cause my credits didn't renew after my last HUP :(. I lost all my credits this month so it jumped to 67.75+tax

$20 200 Voice
$35 BB Value Pack (Unlim Text, CID, VM)
$5 early 6pm option
-$20 in credits
$7 SAF
$0.75 911

= 47.75+ tax

So now I'm spending a few bucks less than what I'm supposed to be paying now. Getting 6GB of data and unlim minutes to my friends. Forfeiting VM and WhoCalled. Pretty decent but the best part is is that I didn't have to renew another 3 years.

type-j 01-09-2012 04:52 PM

I was about to switch carriers but decided to call one last time(15th time) lol. Ending up finally talking to a mellow guy and got this:
$10 - 250min, unlimited eve/weekends 6pm
$20-$10(unlimited text, VM, caller Id)
$30 - 6gb data
I think he took away that SFA fee of $6.95 but I'm not entirely sure.
He said my total after taxes was$58.03 but it doesn't kick in until the 19th so ill see what they actually did online then. Got the convo number just in case they screw me lol. Picking up the galaxy nexus :)

^ hey how does that work? Are they shipping the phone to you or can you request to reserver one in-stores and pick it up on launch day because they will be available in stores starting this friday.

I may have asked this before but do they have room for negotiation for loyal/long time customers? I've had my number with rogers for over 10 years and I'm renewing my 4th 3 year plan....

looking to have a great plan for under $60/mo taxes in

type-j 01-09-2012 06:04 PM

I reserved it online a few weeks ago. I had the option to cancel the reservation at anytime with no penalty. I was number 470 at the time lol. Just checked the status of it and says its "in progress" which means its gonna be shipped out to the rogers store soon so I can pick it up :D

i see..i didn't have faith in pre-order systems because traditionally one can just pick up things in store on launch day.

if that's the case i guess i'll also put down a deposit.

G-spec 01-11-2012 10:08 AM

finally cancelled my Rogers shit after reading this thread for a good week now.... I was stuck on some bullshit $90 after taxes plan, and it did not match my usage at all.... especially after seeing some of your guys plans here I felt so stupid it was such a bad plan...
I would make rarely a few phone calls a week, only text really, and used about 50mb of my 500mb data.... lol, $90 for only 500mb and 200 minutes per month.... fckin fail plan

She kept trying to get me to sign up with another 2 or 3 year promotion contract, I told her the future is here, and it's no contracts so they should get with the program.... even with paying my cancellation fee, I would still get that money back within months on my new plan with someone like mobilicity

so gonna head to mobilicity pick up that galaxy nexus thing which my Google fanboy best friend has convinced me to go with....

saiko 01-11-2012 10:57 AM

G-Spec, how much was your penalty? Did you port your number over?

G-spec 01-11-2012 01:29 PM

penalty fee was $150, i signed up for the plan around 2 years ago, still have about a year left....
told the lady I will gladly pay the penalty, because I will get the money back with just 3 months of service from Mobilicity.... and yea I'm porting my number over, keeping it

i was sick of rogers and i was sick of iphones, rogers is a rip and itunes is the worst piece of software ever invented, no joke

200 daytime minutes +100 bonus minutes that she gave me.

saiko 01-11-2012 03:58 PM

Spoiler!

Lucky! I'm at $375, last time I checked. How long did it take to cancel your plan, port number over to mobilicity, and have your number active again?

G-spec 01-11-2012 04:08 PM

^ I'm still in the process, cancelled yesterday gonna go to mobilicity on the weekend tell them to activate my account and then they call rogers deal with them for the number swap

Won't Rogers hold your number? That would mean you couldn't port to Mobi.

I think your suppose to port your number first. Then the carrier that does the port will notify rogers and your plan will get cancelled automatically. If u cancel first, I think u lose the ability to port your number. This is what I was told when I called rogers retentions.

Alatar 01-11-2012 06:38 PM

Never cancel. Just port over. Porting over initiates and completes the cancellation process. By telling them to cancel, it puts a 30 day hold on your phone number, and high likelihood of losing said number.

shenmecar 01-11-2012 07:07 PM

Just learned an interesting fact about hardware upgrades, they charge you $50 on top of the advertised price of the phone that gets refunded on the second month. But they dont refund the tax on this $50.

For example, iPhone 4S is advertised for $159 + tax, but when you go to a store, they will charge you $209 + tax. On the second month, you will get a refund of $50 only, they do not refund the $6 tax for the $50.

Therefore, the true cost of a hardware upgrade is: Cost of phone + 12% tax on cost of phone + $6. (Not counting the $35 upgrade fee that some of you might get waived)

Quite wtf really, I feel like I just got robbed $6.....Does other carriers do this too??
