Isn't Rogers texting free Canada wide automatically?

shenmecar 01-17-2012 03:04 PM

^ You should see this thread:

[Elect] Rogers Wireless Retention Plans - RedFlagDeals.com Forums

Retention plans are usually 60-ish with 6GB data.

So I just accomplished abosutely nothing. She said I need to have been or be an employee with Rogers. Then I asked if I could move some stuff around so I'm not paying so much and she said the only thing they could change is my5 to a my10 which is $70/month but I still have to pay $30 for my data lol......

I'm just gonna call back in a bit.

wtf. That's a lie. If I remember correctly, you just had to be an airmiles member but telling you that you have to/had to be a rogers employee is completely false. Try calling back until you get someone know knows their shit.

saveth 01-18-2012 01:31 PM

I got it back in the day for being a Costco member.

To b honest you don't have to b any sort of member to get the 17.50 plan(200 min, free after 6 and weekends. This one right?). I got it just by renewing my contact. But I had to give it up to get a different plan. U just need to talk to a rep that doesn't have her head up her ass. good luck lol.

Are you sure you are on retentions/customer relations?

Try not to ask or use specific terms. Usually don't have good experiences. Just call and tell them your needs and see what they can do for you.

BaoTurbo 01-19-2012 12:26 PM

You get EPP plans with Rogers that gives them out to companies like UPS :)

Doubl3_H 01-24-2012 08:58 AM

I want to port my number out from Rogers to Bell, since most of my family and friends are using Bell.

I called customer relations today, and the lady was willing to offer me a new phone. So heres the deal.

I get a brand new HTC Raider for $151.xx taxes in but they will have to sign me up for a new 3 yr term.

But since Im cancelling anyways, can I just take new deal with the new phone and then cancel after?

If I cancel now, I'll be paying $500 + HST, but if I took the phone and cancel after, I will be paying $500 + $151.xx for the phone and I end up with a brand new phone that I could sell to cover up my fees.

Can someone tell me if it will work?

Thanks

Psykopathik 01-24-2012 09:15 AM

^^IIRC you have to pay off the phone too. you cancelled = no subsidized phone.

So there would be a time frame in which I can cancel and do not have to pay for the phone as well?

That $151 breaks down to $99 for the phone, $35 for activation fee and the rest for other fee and taxes.

pretty sure you wont have to pay for the phone. the termination fee is to cover the cost of the phone subsidy.

personal ethics aside, you might as well take the phone and then cancel. your only paying $150 more and im sure you can sell it for more than that.

I think your cancellation fee is the full price of the phone $574.99 - the subsidized price of $151 + admin fee.

Wouldn't the plan fall under Bill 60 now?

BaoTurbo 01-26-2012 06:57 PM

January 26: Called Rogers to see what they can do with Long Distance plans. They offered me a plan....

-My 10 canada wide
-200 weekday minutes
-Unlimited after 6pm-7am+weekends
-Unlimited texting
-no contract

$34.95

It's the same as what I pay for voice which was..

-150 weekday
-unlimited after 6pm-7am+weekends
-unlimited text

Jump on it now if you can

shenmecar 01-27-2012 02:04 PM

No caller id tho??

Apparently Rogers' new retention plans aren't nearly as good as the old ones. When I upgraded my phone I got a warning from my rep to never change anything with my plan because they'd then have to change me to the new retention plans. So just a heads up for anyone with a good plan from the last few years.

FWIW this is what I have:
500 Weekday
6pm Ev+Wknd
Retentions Value Pack (2.5K text, Call disp/ID, etc.)
1K LD Minutes
6GB LTE Data
~58/m after taxes and fees
~

Yeah I had my numbers wrong.

So if you cancel 1 month afterwards:

($574.99 full price - $151 subsidize price) x (35months remaining / 36months total contract ) + $12.50 admin fee = $424.71. This is for the voice plan only.

There's also the Additional Device Savings Recovery Fee (ADSRF) for the data which I have no idea how it's calculated.
Applies Jan.22 and after.

Anyone having issue with receiving texts late and all incoming calls going to voicemail? Just started happening to me in the last 3 days. Fucking pissed off.. Dunno what to do. I know its not the phone that has the issue.

^ Why do you think I paid the $500 ECF to get away from Rogers.

I was willing to pay the penalty to get away from what to me was very sub-par service.

DC5-S 02-01-2012 09:26 AM

Every damn phone company in canada sucks tho so whats the point

shenmecar 02-01-2012 09:31 AM

No problems here.

followed up on thie

34.95 doesn't include caller id (unless you negotiated it in)

12 = caller id + vm

25 = 500mb data

so it would be ~70 dollars....not a good deal.

bigzz786786 02-04-2012 12:13 PM

im glad i got retentions on my old plan

before
200mins
unlimited incoming
unlimited evenings and weekend (evening at 9)
unlimited networking (rogers and fido)
500 text
NO data
vm, caller id, call waiting/forwarding
54 after tax

after
250mins
unlimited incoming
unlimited evenings and weekend (evening at 6)
unlimited networking (rogers and fido)
2500 text (never go past 1000)
500mb data
vm, caller id, call waiting/forwarding

56 after tax

xmisstrinh 02-04-2012 10:00 PM

I'm looking to upgrade to an iPhone since my 3 year contract will be over next month. Does anybody know if something like:

My10,
unltd text, picture text,
1GB or more data,
caller id + vm

is possible for under $65?
