How much to add a feature on a family plan? Is it 1 time fee for all 4 lines or per line?

What other companies offer $40 -$50 decent plan for an iphone 4s?

Your $45 plan is really good(today's standards)... Not sure if you want to give it up to join the family plan. It will be very difficult for you to get another plan similar to your $45 right now.

Called Rogers and this is what I got for $72 :okay:

300 Daytime minutes
Unlimited Text messaging
Unlimited Evenings & Weekends
Unlimited Incoming
Free after 6 pm
Caller ID, Voicemail
1 GB Data
My 5

Ye I know and the family retention plan too that they gave me is really good as well. Thats why its a Big Dilemma :(

Hows Telus Network compare to Rogers? I'm thinking to get 1 line from them using this plan (Saskatchewan Version)

Promotional Plans | Plans | TELUS Mobility

What do you think of that $190 plan is it good on todays standard? It's really hard to get a family retention plan. What I'm thinking is to double the mins instead of my10 canada. I cant even break a 1gb of data and its useless for me to keep 6 gb.

shenmecar 03-18-2012 10:35 PM

^

Telus's network is pretty good too. Only dead spot I found is in Metrotown T&T. Otherwise its good everywhere. How do you get a Sask plan as a new customer??? the Promo 55 is good value.

Do they offer it to new customer? Do they also offer 400 credit if you port all your numbers to them?

shenmecar 03-19-2012 12:27 PM

u won't b able to get it as a new customer. I think. I highly doubt rogers will b able to match it either

Data might be a concern, will 2gb be enough for everyone(4lines)? So its basically $47.50 per line if you go on the family plan (correct me if I"m wrong). How much are your other family members paying per month? I think you should calculate how much you guys save if you hop over to the family plan.

My other lines are worth $37 and $29 and 2gb is enough. My mom and my dad wont use that much data. Even I myself cant crack 1gb even I do have 4 outlook sync and 1 of them is my workplace email in which I'm receiving approx 30 emails per day.

When we calculate If we add data on top of each line even in retention it will cost around 50ish... 4X50 = $200 (with out unli incoming and unli text world wide and only my 5 canada wide.)

If I could only double my mins in the family plan instead of my 10 it would a good plan. What do you think?

Purely 03-20-2012 08:54 PM

Does the fourth person using the family plan line use much data? Also, how are the plans with your parents? For example, are they satisfied with it? E.g., have caller id, enough minutes, texts? In my opinion, it seems like there isn't much to gain to go on the family plan for your parents at least. Like you said, they don't use much data, and probably won't use that many minutes, or texts at least? (correct me if I'm wrong) They can probably do without data, since I assume the $37/$29 plans don't include data. Essentially they are paying more to go on the family plan for the same features.

On the other hand, if your parents do lack the caller id, wants more minutes/texts, data to play around with, then the family plan should be a good choice. Adding the stuff like caller id, and data isn't cheap, even on retentions plan. Doubling minutes is better than my10 for sure imo. Lastly, it is up to you if you want to hop over lol. Is it possible if your parents go on the family plan now, and then you join them later by adding a line (essentially same cost???) Your plan is $45 right now vs $47.5 on the family plan. Is your plan ending soon? If you can't renew your credits in the future (I assume you have quite a few.. hahaa) then hopping on the family plan would be good.

I'm paying 56.75 with this plan

250 Mins.
Visual Voice Mail
Call Display
Unli after 5 PM and Weekends
Unli TXT World Wide
My 5 Canada Wide
6gb Data
Tethering

+ $10 Discount... IDK how I get it.... I think its more on system glitch after a plan change that I did lately hehe shhhhh!!!

dasuperstar 03-26-2012 06:17 PM

OMG Telus offer me a retention plan just now even I'm a new customer.

$55

300 Mins Local Outgoing
250 Mins Local Incoming
6gb Data + Tethering
6pm Early Eve and Week Ends
250 Canada Wide TXT
250 International TXT
Visual VM & CD

$350 New Customer Credit
$35 Admin Fee Waive

also if I port all my numbers they will give me $400 each ported line.

I think the $55 plan + credits that they offered me is a really good deal considering the fact that I'm a new customer.

What do you think guys and hows TELUS Coverage/Signal?

Quacks 03-26-2012 06:25 PM

^ The credits they're giving you as a new customer is amazing...but what are the plan details of your other 3 lines? Heck, even at $220 for all 4 lines, that's still a much better plan than Rogers' $190 (2gb shared between 4 people is probably only OK if everyone uses social media, Whatsapp/bbm, and light browsing).

I really like Telus coverage. My work phone used to be on the Telus network and I had similar reception compared to my Rogers phone but it won out when I had to travel. Telus had reception in cities/towns that Rogers didn't.

dasuperstar 03-26-2012 07:55 PM

So far I got 3 Lines and I'm looking to add another 1

- 1 x $45 mentioned above (Mine)
- 2 x $25 (Mom and Dad)
250 Min
Unli Starts 5PM
CD + VM + 100 US TXT and International

My parents wants to have an Iphone 4S 16gb. My plan is to add this

New Rogers Data Sharing - http://www.rogers.com/web/content/dataSharing

so that it would work out $15 for each line.

Calculation on each line is (25+15)2 + 45 (My Plan) + 55 (Telus Line) = $190 but far better than the family plan that they offer I guess depending on how you use the phone. Note that I might cancel the data of my parents since I'm 95% sure that they wont use it or they do only use 100MB.

The good part is that when Iphone 5 comes out. Since I have a telus line I could talk now with their retention and get a good deal when transfering my account.

EX. 400x3 credit = $1200 + iPhone 5s

All I need to pay is $400x3 max with rogers for early cancellation. To eleminate this charges all I need to do is sell the iPhone 4s..... :)

What do you think? Its a win win for me LOL

shenmecar 03-26-2012 08:13 PM

I think the Telus plan you mention is not a retention plan, its their business plan. and you need a minimum of two to get it. Which isnt a problem for you since u got 3 lines.

I am very curious as to how you are getting $350 new customer credit + $400 each line tho.

In your case, it would be (400 X 3) + 350 = $1550 for signing up with Telus?

Is this right?!?!

If so, can you PM me the store you spoke with? I am getting my ass out of Rogers too.

Is that a BIZ plan could send me the link? Yes your correct they will give me $1550 credit.... and nope I don't need an extra line for that in order for me to get it.

I call the sales team..... No stores will offer you that but I could verify tomorrow since I will check if the sales guy is actually giving me a good deal or just a biz plan.

shenmecar 03-26-2012 09:21 PM

i emailed this guy:

SWITCH TO TELUS AND ILL PAY YOUR CANCELLATION FEE - iPhone Galaxy

and he replied with a plan the same as ur $55 one. Said I needed two lines minimum for it.

You should take a look at this thread:

http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...-I-got!/page46

The last post is of a guy with a $55 plan with some more goodies than the $55 one you posted above. Doesnt hurt to give that a try. =D

Simplex123 03-26-2012 10:35 PM

So did he explain how everything works? Which store does he work at, if any at all

davy 03-26-2012 11:22 PM

If you guys want that plan, I can certainly hookup. PM me :)
And shenmecar is right, thats the business plans and you need to have a GST number as well as business number.

qhey 03-27-2012 03:59 PM

^ are there any hidden monthly fee for the telus plan?

davy 03-27-2012 07:08 PM

Nope, just the price of the plan + tax.

willystyle 03-28-2012 12:59 AM

What's the best smartphone plan I can get with Rogers as a new customer?

Looking for something along the line of..

200 Daytime Min
Unlimited SMS/MMS
Unlimited local calling after 5 or 6pm
Call Display
1GB Data (preferably 6gb)

shenmecar 03-28-2012 01:05 PM

They don't have a 1gb data addon. Only way to get 1gb is with the my10 + 1gb plan. Also, the 6gb promo is gone for now.
