For example, iPhone 4S is advertised for $159 + tax, but when you go to a store, they will charge you $209 + tax. On the second month, you will get a refund of $50 only, they do not refund the $6 tax for the $50.

Therefore, the true cost of a hardware upgrade is: Cost of phone + 12% tax on cost of phone + $6. (Not counting the $35 upgrade fee that some of you might get waived)

Quite wtf really, I feel like I just got robbed $6.....Does other carriers do this too??

I noticed that too, they're stealing $6 from everyone who upgrades!

there are very VERY few businesses in the world, shit let's go as far to say the history of the world that have gotten worldwide huge relying on ethical business practices.
This is what big business does, always has and always will and yea we're pretty much helpless, only thing we can do is try not to use their services as a matter of principle.

I find out through WikiLeaks Shell gas company has utilized hit squads and assassins on the local populace in the Niger regions to stabilize their oil sources... so I stopped going to Shell.....
finally got my head out my ass realized Rogers is a jip, stopped paying them....
who the fuck is next, I don't know but I'm pretty sure it's gonna be the Police... my tax dollars ain't paying to have cops harass profile and pull me over once or twice a month while I'm dropping my gf off to work or going to work myself, lol, I swear I will stop fckin payin taxes and start getting paid under the table

I bitched to Rogers on their twitter and the guy responded that I should get reimbursed for the tax, so I called in and they credited me the $6 for hst. it is a ripoff

^ nice dude, props for sticking with principle road.... God knows these huge companies make it impossible for us to go this route most of the time

You serious? Shit, the homo rep I spoke with told me it was LEGIT. He justified by saying the "advertised" price is not actually the "sale price", and that the paper I signed for the hardware upgrade states that the tax cannot be refunded. I should bitch them out on their twitter too.

Yes they do charge that.
I negotiated to have this fee credited back to me on my first statement when I talked to retentions.

twitchyzero 01-14-2012 07:34 PM

thanks for the reply..i thought BS fees like this was only necessary when getting or new number or modifying your plan...

G-spec 01-14-2012 08:04 PM

when I was cancelling the Rogers saves lady had so much shit to say about Mobilicity it made me lol literally.... she was actually borderline rude and kept tiptoeing around everything

she was going off about how they piggyback, and how their service is much much shittier compared to Rogers and get this, she goes they won't be able to offer much of a service much longer and will probably go out of business because they will lose customers because of this :suspicious:

so I told her ok we know their service is hit and miss now but I don't give a shit, I would rather have a few missed calls or texts a month if it's gonna save me $70 monthly.
And because they're getting a massive influx of customers means more profit, they're gonna use that to build their own network and solidify their service and at that point be a legit competitor in all aspects of the game, and I feel a lot better about being a part of that as opposed to getting ripped off on some $90 bullshit plan with Rogers....

and I go... You guys told me the same gotdang shit about Fido many years ago when I left Rogers to go with Fido, you ended up buying Fido cuz they were killing yall...
that shut her up bigtime, and I finished it off with telling her that unlimited plans will be the norm very soon whether you like it or not, and if more people go to other carriers with unlim plans like Mobilicity it will force other carriers to match the plans, and I doubt Rogers can buy out everyone... you bought out Fido specifically to stop this from happening, and it worked for a few years, but the jig is up assholes and that's why I'm leaving, people been getting ripped off for too long those days are done

update: I called the first time and the guy said it was for new customers only. then I read this thread and called again and the guy said it's no problem I had 15days to get a price match on it if the price drops so he applied the $60 credit to my account. seriously some of the rogers customer service representatives are are so useless!! if I didn't have a dece plan I would not still be with them.

Hey everyone, so I finally decided to sit down and sort out my Rogers cell bill today, as everyone always tells me I have a high Bill each month....

Here's what I'm currently paying

MY5 - $30
Iphone value pack - $20
6GB Data - $30
6pm early evenings - Free
System Access - $7
Additional for Texting to U.S approx $8/month

Totaly last month was 98 plus tax which was $110

Right now I'm looking at Rogers site to try and figure out what I can do to chop it down to around $75-80

I would keep my Data as I understand $30 is a good price for 6 gb.
I want to drop my5 and change to the new iphone $20 value pack which has unlimited texting (US and canada) plus all the little thigns like voicemail and caller i.d

The only thing I really need now is calling minutes. This is where I'm stuck as I think I have to choose a base plan.. which the lowest priced one is $32 something and only comes with 150 minutes (All I actually need is about 150) but if I go with this one I will be paying the same as I am right now -__-

I'm gonna spend some time reading through and seeing what everyone else has, and go from there...

tl;dr
I need
6gb data
unlim Texting
150min calling
VM and C I.D

Get the EPP plan, it's 17.50 a month, you get 200 minutes and free weekends and evenings at 6. The new EPP plan has a GRF fee as well so you can get rid of the stupid SAF and save yourself some money. I was on the old EPP plan with the SAF. Got mine changed to to the new plan with the grf.

This is what I have

$17.50 - EPP plan (200 mins, free weekend and evenings at 6pm)
$30.00 - Iphone value pack (500mb data, caller id, vm, 10,000 text messages)
$2.35 - grf
$5 - Free incoming (credited)
$5 - Free rogers 2 rogers (credited)
$5 - 100 long distance canada minutes (credited)
My bill is about $55 after taxes :fullofwin:

Jgresch 01-17-2012 01:34 PM

What does EPP stand for? A plan like that would be perfect, the only thing I need is a bit more data. I probably use around 3 gb/month

edit: nvm EPP is Employee Purchase Plan

Jgresch 01-17-2012 01:46 PM

on the phone with them right now and shes telling me I need to be an employee lol

So I just accomplished abosutely nothing. She said I need to have been or be an employee with Rogers. Then I asked if I could move some stuff around so I'm not paying so much and she said the only thing they could change is my5 to a my10 which is $70/month but I still have to pay $30 for my data lol......

I'm just gonna call back in a bit.

NLY 01-17-2012 02:28 PM

I've posted my plan before ;

250 Weekday
Unlimited evenings and weekends starting 6pm
Unlimited Incoming calls
Unlimited Network - Rogers/Fido
Call Display + Voicemail
Unlimited Texting Canada wide
1GB Data Plan

$45 taxes included
