Turn off the phone.

Hold on to the Home button.

While holding the Home button hold down the Power button.

While still holding on to the two buttons, wait for the Apple logo to disappear and the screen to go funky (it looks like it still has something on the screen but the backlight is gone)

Wait 5 seconds then release the power button

It's in DFU recovery mode, although you can't see anything, but plugging it in to iTunes should result in a "iPhone is in recovery mode" message. That is, if you got it right. :)

ya ifigure it out after playing wit it more lol what the tut said was keep pressing the two button not hold lol everything went smooth up to the point i realize my wifi at home doesnt work =(

I keep getting the same error...the error will say something about how it wasn't copied to my iPhone because it's not compatible and cannot be played on my iPhone.

Now I'm stuck with that horrible Marimba song as my ringtone for now :(


[EDIT] Turns out I had to use iTunes 7.5 to get it to work

upgrade and dowgrade software will not brick the iphone... even the baseband is mess you can always recover it back... unless you go into your iphone dir and delete everything inside... (even tho I still think it should still be recoverable)

I have a question. My new iPhone has an app called "iWorld" which addresses 1.1.2 crash issues for unsupported sim cards; do you I need to install this app? I didn't see Canada in the list of countries.

I think its just for countries outside of NA

I checked it and Canada wasn't on the list so I never installed it and my phone has been running perfectly normal since I upgraded :)

I was playing round with my iphone recently and found a whole lotta sources via the installer that gave me a bunch of nice applications that were pretty cool...example...a nice app that copies your sim contacts to your phone book...wondering what other people have on their iphones in the way of applicaitons??

Most SIM solutions have survived the 1.1.3 upgrade, since the baseband remains unchanged. I know for a fact StealthSIMs work with upgraded 1.1.3...

i'm using Apollo.

sim hack unlocks 1.1.3. I'm using it. but it has to be the official one from installer. NOT upgraded through itunes. Or else your baseband will get upgraded as well and the cards won't work anymore.

I like 1.1.3. very nice. got all my programs to work including summerboard. Just can't get apollo to work. won't ever establish a connection
