you can unlock it yourself... if your phone is brand new out of the box and its version 1.1.2 then your out of luck. you cant unlock it but you can buy this hypersim thing on craigs for about 100$ to get it working with your sim

however if its version 1.0.2 or 1.1.1 then you can unlock it

5t6n 12-10-2007 02:31 PM

hmm, is there anyway i can tell which firmware it is? how can i unlock it myself?

Hey does anyone know what the warranty or exchange policy is for the iphone. I've had the damn thing in a case since it was out of the box IN the store, now i just see that there are a few scuff marks that just WONT come off. i asked about an exchange and she said i'd have to pay a restocking fee.

i thought the iphone was supposed to be resitant to keys. it was just in my pocked for about an hour with my set of house keys while i was driving...

help?

+Kardboard+ 12-10-2007 04:26 PM

Yeah, there's a re-stocking fee...and nothing is resistant to keys. :(

Get a BSE and it should do the trick

I make sure I always keep my keys/coins away from my iphone

actually iphone face is pretty scatch resistence.

I change my screen protector the other day and just for the heck of it i try scatching it with keys and coins like i saw on youtube.

no scatches :D

how even i know like small grain of sand and little pebbles will definately kill the screen

::smurfie:: 12-10-2007 08:48 PM

Thats what i thought. Any way to get rid of the scuff marks.. they're bothering me quite a bit

can u still upgrade ur iphone to 1.1.1? my itunes says 1.1.2 as the only available update... i have 1.0.2, and it crashed on me a few times, im hoping 1.1.1 is a more stable firmware??

is there anybody locally that can do it for a reasonable cost? jp says they'll do it for 60, but its free to do it online -__-

just dont wanna mess up my phone and end up with an ibrick thats all

Ch28 12-10-2007 10:57 PM

I went to the modmyifone website and downloaded the iSolitaire program. I extracted the zip file and I got a "iSolitaire.app" folder and a bunch of non-executable files. How do I install the game onto my phone?

help on iphone?

how can u tell the difference between an iclone and an iphone??

honda_h2o 12-12-2007 11:31 AM

iclone has 2 sim card slots? and expandable memory?

+Kardboard+ 12-12-2007 12:04 PM

Looks different, interface is crap, and has nothing which makes the iPhone unique, namely multitouch and how it integrates into the iPod ecosystem (iTunes, etc.).

no_clue 12-12-2007 12:25 PM

hi, recently i updated my iphone to 1.1.1 and everything works except the weather app. everytime i load it, it crashes to the main menu. Anyone know how to fix this? lol

+Kardboard+ 12-12-2007 12:48 PM

How did you upgrade to 1.1.1? And did you try restarting the phone?

dont have the time to do that lol... is it relatively safe? any chance of u fucking up ur phone??

anybody locally wanna do it for like... 20 bucks or so? haha :( i heard the speakers are improved on 1.1.1 that true?

+Kardboard+ 12-12-2007 04:37 PM

If you don't spend the time to read up, then yeah, big chance things will go boom, although it's always fixable. Speakers aren't really improved. I can help you get up to 1.1.1 if you want.

You need to use SSH or SFTP and copy that iSolitaire.app folder into the /Applications folder then change all the files to executables. WinSCP makes that easy, just log into the phone, drop the folder in, select all the files and right-click then into properties and check the executable check boxes.

Ch28 12-13-2007 02:10 AM

Not really, as it doesn't let you set permissions.

I think I've got all of them by installing the BigBoss repo and installing the "All Sources" package from that...hahah got a LOT of crap which I manually uninstalled (lots of repos with themes and stuff; useless to me). The thing that bugs me the most is that many of the repos have the same program on them but different versions, and no matter what version you're on Installer thinks you need to "upgrade" to the other version....back and forth..haha

Vansterdam 12-13-2007 10:58 AM

what do you mean by "doesn't let you set permissions." ?

are you guys using SENDSONGS for ringtones? seems like my phone resets my ringtone back to default from time to time and custom ringtones dissapear from the "ringtone selection menu" all i have to do is reopen sendsongs for the ringtones to be back in the menu

+Kardboard+ 12-13-2007 02:33 PM

I'm talking about Unix file permissions. Using iBrickr to copy it to the phone doesn't finish it, you need to set the files to "executable", which you can do only via SSH or using WinSCP or some equivalent.

I'm on 1.1.1 using the manual ringtone hack I got from hacktheiphone.com.
