thats how much you pay him but his salary cap hit remains the same

it's the nhl's way of preventing salary cap strapped teams from re-signing all their good players for dirt cheap and paying them 11ty billion more the following season because they have 25M in cap space instead of 10M

Chouinard's cap hit is 300k but his salary was 1M

chouinard got bought out. it's a different situation altogether.

multi year contracts are calculated on an average basis. lecavalier has a $85m contract over 11 years. average is $7.72m, so for the next 11 years, that will be the number on their salary cap contribution table.

the bright side is that you have a superstar who's willing to invest the remainder of his career in your organization, which helps bring new talent in. the downside is that the nhl has a lot of years to take a downward spiral in revenue which could really fuck over the organization (with regards to salary commitments). he also has a no movement clause, which means he can't even be put on waivers.

So there hasn't been any updates from the Canucks for a while...

I really hope that we get Sundin.. I got a text form TSN and thought Sundin signed somewhere but nope. Just a parting way of coaches.

Not quite half, I think it's 2/3's of the remaining salary spread over the number of years of the contract. Chouinard signed for 2 years at 1.1m each year and was bought out after one so he had 1.1m remaining on his contract, 2/3's of that was divided over a 2 year period for the cap hit of 0.367m

If Lecavalier got bought out after the 9th year, he would have 2.5m remaining on his contract, his buyout would be 1.667m (2/3's of 2.5m) / 11 years, so 151.5k of cap hit each year for 11 years

I think he's gonna wait until Sundin makes an official decision.

Yes, Larscheid will stay on as color

Hondaracer 07-14-2008 04:21 PM

shitty for him, having to work with 2 seperate guys now, kind of a bush act by whoever puts that together, they should have just brought in a permanent guy for home and away

Well, Shorthouse will still be doing games on the TEAM1040 that aren't on Sportsnet... so HNIC/TSN/PPV nights Shorty will be there anyway... Plus Rick Ball probably wanted to try it out but couldn't do the away games because of his show.
