Actually don't we have 5M in cap space + 5M in allowed bonuses? |

that being said, a team can exceed the cap if they are at max and a player hits their bonuses... up to 7.5% of the total cap, i think... but the downfall is that they'd have to pay it all back by way of a cap reduction in the following season. complicated stuff. |

seriously..wtf??? i know that shanny's not young anymore..but who the hell else can bring to the table that he can and at his age?? he can easily play with demitra or slide in with the twins. for gillis's sake..he better pray every single fucking night that sundin signs here. cause he's gonna be stuck up shit creek if sundin rejects. |
my post was a double negative based on the debunking of the rumor that we offered shanahan a contract and he rejected it, neither of which ever happened. |
i know. mine is based on the fact that gillis didn't offer him anything |

unless they're all willing to sign for $33,000 each. |
I wouldn't mind having Byron Ritchie back. I thought he was decent. I'd pay him $500k. He has, however, been made redundant as we have too many forwards now and guys that are probably better than him at being 4th liners. Isbister is useless. I like Miller too but he's far too old to be playing here. And I might be in the minority but I really liked Mike Weaver. I thought he played hard every game but he's too small for this team now if we want to get tougher. |
^ missed 2 break away on the same shift |

I liked Mike Weaver too, he played big... who did he fight on edmonton again? I guess Rob Davidson is going to replace him though, younger, bigger. |

No one talking about the Canucks schedule? Season opener should be awesome. Bert and Iginla... :D Also looking forward to finally seeing Montreal back in Vancouver since... what, '05? One more notable is that the Flyers are back to doing their traditional year-end game in Vancouver. Used to make it a yearly thing with my dad to go see these New Years eve (eve) games. Going to be fun renewing it this year. DATES TO REMEMBER: October 9 - Season Opener at home versus the Calgary Flames November 2 - Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings first visit of season November 15 - Toronto Maple Leafs visit General Motors Place December 28 - Ottawa Senators pay their first visit since December 9, 2005 December 30 - Philadelphia Flyers close out 2008 at General Motors Place January 13 - Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils face Roberto Luongo and the Canucks January 25 - NHL All-Star Game – Montreal February 15 - The Montreal Canadiens make their only visit to Vancouver February 27 - Vincent Lecavalier and the Tampa Bay Lightning visit General Motors Place April 9 - Regular season home finale versus the Los Angeles Kings SCHEDULE NOTABLES: The Canucks longest home stand is six games between November 2nd-15th, while the longest road trip is seven games from November 29th-December 13th. With road trips of seven games, two of six games and two of four games in length, the Canucks will play a combined 27 road games in just five road trips. SCHEDULE BREAKDOWN: The 2008-09 schedule includes 14 home stands and 14 road trips. The Canucks play a total of 28 weekend games including 17 games at home. Tuesday evenings will be the busiest night of the week for the Canucks this season with 17 games falling on that day. The total number of Saturday games is 16 followed by Thursday (15), Sunday (12), Friday (10), and Monday and Wednesday (6). PRE-SEASON: The Canucks will play four pre-season home games and a total of seven pre-season games, all against Western Conference opponents: Anaheim (2), Calgary (1), Edmonton (2) and San Jose (2). The Canucks open the pre-season at Edmonton, facing the Oilers, on September 22nd. |
