Finally tried flashing JKay's bluecircle theme, phone didnt boot after the flash so I had to use the restore, but that didnt work either :fulloffuck:

So then I had to revert back to a day old nandroid backup ..

R5x 12-27-2011 01:03 PM

Weird.
Which rom are you on now?

I recently switched to CheckROM 4.0 (which already has JKay installed by default) and I flashed both JKay bluecircle theme and ICS menu transitions without any problems.

!Yaminashi 12-27-2011 01:09 PM

I'm still on villainrom 3.0 :okay:
I like it though and it works for me so thats why I've stuck with it. That and I dont feel like re-installing everything/re-setting everything from scratch again.

I dunno why the theme AND the restore didnt work though, I just want that damn theme!

EDIT: Forgot to add, after the first failed attempt I booted up into CWM and wiped the cache as per suggestions on XDA. Then I tried to install the theme again, after THIS failed, thats when I rebooted into CWM once again and flashed the restore. Dunno if that had anything to do with it

Are you sure you used the right version of jkays? They are build specific and cannot be mixed otherwise you get no boot. Not sure why the restore didn't fix it though.

Yep, I made sure I dialed *#1234# first to make sure I got the right version
Mine was XXKI3 so I downloaded the odexed KI3 theme and restore

R5x 12-27-2011 01:27 PM

Isn't villainrom a de-odexed rom?

Oh and if you ever want to switch roms without reinstalling/resetting everything again, just make a backup with titanium backup first, then restore from titanium backup again once you're finished flashing.

!Yaminashi 12-27-2011 01:31 PM

Nope, thats what I thought at first as well! But when I flashed the deodexed zip it gave me an error

Voltage Control has a free and pro version that's available in the market.

Any big differences between free and paid? Is SetCpu in the market as well? Thanks.

When I connect the phone via USB, where do I drag and drop the music in order for the phone to recognize it?

I have been transferring the music to the usbStorage folder on my phone, but I always have to manually go to that folder to play each song as my default music player doesn't recognize anything.

Im using Isyncr and it works great for my music.

got it from the app store

Nothing important. The free one is more than enough.

Get Voltage Control. It was designed to be compatible with the SGS2

I'm wanting to flash this ICS theme:
[THEME]*ICE CREAM SANDWICH v1.7.2*DOMINATION*SOUL BOUND*(26.12.2011.)+UPDATE+Online* - xda-developers

But apparently my rom base is too old and I'm pretty positive I'm on the latest version of villain

CheckROM is pretty good. They removed a lot of junk and tweaked things a bit. Battery life is the same coming from stock xxki4. Overall it was a pretty transparent upgrade. The major thing I appreciate is the kitchenpro app they added which allows for easy modding (battery mods, flashing kernels, radios, widgets, and also the ics theme you listed above).

There is also a non-wipe version available so you wouldn't lose everything even if you try it. I think it's worth a try. Just hope your nandroid backup works if you decide to rollback this time ;)

Hey !MiKrofT, so what's your opinion of the Galaxy Nexus now that you've used it for a while?
Putting aside ICS since cm9 that's coming on the sgs2 is very very close to stock google ICS, are the pros of the actual hardware (specifically the hd screen, notification led, size) worth the upgrade over the sgs2? Anything you miss at all (smaller size, camera quality, physical buttons, etc.)?

Non wipe? I can flash over my villain? :o
Oh my nandroid backup worked everytime, it just sucked that I had to revert back to it for such a small mod not working with Jkay

R5x 12-28-2011 09:35 AM

Actually I think it's probably best that you factory reset/wipe if you're going to try this ROM since you're coming from another ROM. That's what CheckROM makers recommend too. You might get bootloops if you don't.

But the inconvenience should be kept to a minimum as long as you have a nandroid backup of your current set up first (just in case) + if you make a titanium backup of everything.
I did not have any trouble restoring any of my apps+data from titanium backup when I moved from stock to cm7 (for one day), then from stock to CheckROM (permanently). Even all my sms history and widget settings were restored properly.

So far so good. I notice the phone uses quite a bit of battery power when the screen is on but is pretty good when idling. Hopefully once dev's get rolling the new kernels will help that. The notification LED is so useful especially since it can display different colors. Physical buttons; I do miss having a home button as that's what I mainly used to turn the screen on but I can live with just using the side button. Cyanogen is great in that it's compiled off AOSP.. However having straight support from Google itself is pretty cool. The phone is large but not actually not much larger. The screen is actually more like 4.5" because the on screen buttons take up a portion of the screen.

Does it also keep how you had the phone laid out as well? For example I have only 2 homescreens, my main screen only has 4 apps visible while simi clock is where I keep shortcuts to the rest of my most used apps.

So if I were to restore using titanium would it put everything back the way it was? or just restore my apps to the phone + any settings they had?

Also when you backed up with titanium did you backup all apps + system data, or just user apps?
