sorry, should have meant as close to proper as possible.

eg.

- planted feet
- arched back
- pressure on shoulder blades
- vertical forearms

record it bro

AAnthony 05-08-2011 09:38 PM

got my squat on today. Did a few warm-up sets & did 3 sets of 6 @ 225, and a final set of 6 @ 235
Weak compared to upper body, but i'm climbing fast.
Decided i'm going to try to squat 300 lbs on my next leg day. Just need to eat a shit ton of carbs beforehand.
I could bench that 6 months ago....LOL!

yameen 05-08-2011 11:50 PM

so i`m going to the gym for the first time later this week. if i start bicep curling 15-20lbs, do most people not care or do they laugh? i`ll probably bench press somewhere in the super low range too...haha

you're at the gym to improve yourself, and the only person you should be competing to is yourself.

put on your music, man up and lift.

hal0g0dv2 05-09-2011 01:35 AM

If people care how much u bicep curl you are at the wrong gym

Gotta start somewhere. If it makes you feel any better when I started I could barely lift 30lb dumbbells lol. I actually was paranoid too so I bought a weight set to get stronger at home then get a gym pass, didn't work lol. I finally joined with my brother, and having someone with you is usually enough to feel comfortable in a gym the first few times.

Just don't try to do more weight than you can handle with decent form. You'll get more sneers trying to curl 30's with swinging arms than doing 15's with proper form.

Supafly 05-09-2011 08:37 AM

I dont eat enough anymore....dont workout much anymore.....I feel disgusting working such long hours....

No video, no care

Just kidding, thats crazy man! Congrats on hitting a new record

sonick 05-09-2011 08:24 PM

Dunno if it's some weird coincidence of eating something weird before a workout, but the last few times after doing Stiff-Legged Deadlifts I've been getting nauseous and wanting to vomit, which makes the res of my workout shitty.

Annoying and frustrating.

!Yaminashi 05-09-2011 08:32 PM

Are you feeling dizzy at all? I used to get a little light headed when I deadlifted.
I'm guessing because I wasnt breathing properly

Maybe that could be it?

sonick 05-09-2011 08:36 PM

I only get lightheaded on the rare occasion for regular deadlifts and squats when I go hard, but it only lasts a few seconds.

This nausea feels different and lasts awhile; similar to the discomfort from motion sickness or something. Nothing terrible, but just a nuisance.

Interesting bit:

Quote:

That's because it's hard to get past Lesnar's imposing physique. He's a weight-lifting fanatic and has put on 60 pounds since graduating from Webster (S.Dak.) High in 1996. He can deadlift 720 pounds, squat 695 and bench-press 475, totals that arouse suspicion that he didn't attain such strength naturally. Robinson had Lesnar tested for steroids shortly after he arrived at Minnesota. The results were negative. "I never thought Brock was using steroids," says Robinson. "When people look at him, they make assumptions, and I told Brock that I wanted to eliminate the question before it became an issue. He didn't have a problem with that."
