Walked into the change room today to a guy facing the door about 10 feet from the door standing naked with one leg up on the counter blow drying behind his balls with a hair dryer.

Had 1RM testing at school today for baseball

230 hang clean
365 deadlift
275x2 squat

Have squated maybe 4 or 5 times in the last 4 months because of groin problems. Groin felt fine today thank god. Surprised that I didn't lose too much strength. Coach knows I can squat decent so I couldn't let him down.

was on the bench tonight, some random dude asks if he can work in since he was doing the same weight. i say sure..

we're at 225lbs & he's doing half reps & i think to myself :rukidding:?

we move up to 235lbs & still he's doing half reps.. he stops there but my weights keep going up. the whole time im using powerlifting form (feet back & digging into the ground, legs tight, bridged back, shoulder blades sqeezed, elbows tucked in). after my last set he says to me that he noticed my back was really curved & asks if i had ever experienced back pain. i say no and that it is a powerlifting form used by many people including some friends of mine that have competed. he says the only reason i havent felt pain is cuz of my age & that he knows this because he's in sports medicine

anyone here get back pain or was i right to laugh at him?

unless the guy has breast implants that are a double d, there is no reason to do half reps. so many guys at my gym do half reps with 3 plates, like do u not know we are all looking at you like you are a retarded duck.

5 months, I, Bodybuilder. Managed to add about 5lbs mass.

Floating around 155-158lbs now from 148-150lbs.

Zero pump, full flex. Still hungry for more.

lol the half reps i know is just moronic, i was wondering if people had experienced back pain from that lifting style before. i havent come close to any pain, but im pretty sure i have good form

BinsentoW 09-25-2012 10:34 PM

How low do you guys go on bench?
I go about 3 inches to touching my chest

Fcukedd 09-25-2012 10:41 PM

the only reason you would get back pain from benching is not because of the type of form you are using but the amount of weight you are benching. As with any other lift, increasing intensity (be it increased resistance, time, position) also increases risk. If you have shitty form using a normal stance, you're putting your back at risk too. in fact, just last week, had a friend tweak his back from benching with the normal stance cus he was lifting heavy and compensating his form, (not being able to activate his core and keep things tight and contracted)

Benching with the normal stance does NOT mean you are not gonna put your back at risk. You could totally go into detail on how certain positions can target different muscles and bones differently, but to me, i definetly don't feel a difference with the two stances. If anything, you get a more explosive movement with the powerlifting stance because all your bodyparts are closer together and so you're able to contract your muscles better, thus leaving your bodyparts in a less vulnerable position.
