I remember a time when i was trying to drop in, and the bitch at the counter wouldn't let me go in for free cus technically I was kinda sneaking in without paying...

I was like "then perhaps we should have a talk with ___ (the person i know)" and shes like "oh, actually i think its ok for you to go in. I'll buzz you in, go ahead"

lol I got a pretty good laugh from it, shit was cash hahaha I feel pretty bad doing that sometimes though cus its against the policy

now i can go in for free without paying in a legit way haha

I usually went at 4:30 just to say I have boxing ahah

exdee 09-18-2012 09:00 AM

tastse like chocolate milk for triple chocolate. mix wise its okay... but you'll have a few small chunks on the bottom

Meowjin 09-18-2012 09:16 AM

doesn't mix well with water. Even with blender.

The other day at the gym, a well built older asian guy was training near me and gave me some sage advice. I started at this gym not long ago and I think he noticed me training hard 5 days a week (Layne Norton routine).

"The hardest part of bodybuilding is being dedicated to the sport day after day, week after week after week. In your 20s you generally have more time. In your 30s, you start to have more responsibilities like a mortgage, wife, kids etc. That is when you need to make sacrifices like going to the gym at 6am. Any kid can come in and do some curls but can you stick with it in the long run"
He is 55 and has been lifting since age 15.

Simple but true. 40 years of hard work in the gym is something.

That's from arnolds bodybuilding book. Good read.

I've switched to vanilla protein shakes. When I get bored, I squirt a bit of Mio, and I have a different tasting shake each time.

Vanilla shake + strawberry Mio = insanely good

Tried 3 plates today and failed miserably. Hit the bottom, and couldn't bring it up... Spotter wasn't strong enough to bring it all the way up so I ended up having to force it up onto the first notch. Can't blame him tho... the dude couldn't even deadlift 2 plates and he only told me afterwards

I was floor pressing 225 once and I dropped it on myself, a guy was DL-ing next to me and he couldnt pick it up either. Rolled out from under the bar :feelsbadman:

dam dude, bench is hard to always be high.
you want a big bench you have to bench 3x a week once you stop doing that it goes away, well for me it does

Do u guys prefer barbell bench press or dumbell bench press

BrRsn 09-18-2012 11:42 PM

barbell ^

First shoulder workout since I got tendonitis. Felt so phucking weak. OH press was 105lbs 5x5 (struggling) and OH press with dumbbells I maxed with 45's for 6 reps. DAFUQ? Feel like I've hit rock bottom. Ah well, no where to go but up :alonehappy:

MindBomber 09-18-2012 11:51 PM

Dumbbell, but I'll add, I don't believe in the debate between barbell and dumbbell there is necessarily a greater; barbells do some things better, while dumbbells do other things better.

Depends on how i feel that day. Variety is always good for mixing things up, cus chances are, even though you may not realize it, even though both are chest exercises, they will both be focussing more on different types of muscles groups.

I tend to do dumbbell press when i dont have a spotter and when i feel extra alpha that day. Benching 110s feels good and gets you some stares from the ppl around you. Main thing though, is that I feel a much better pump in the arms and inner chest because im able to really push the dumbells together .

On days where i want to on isolating the triceps and chest strength, i go for the barbell.

Basically, i use dumbbells for hypertrophy (more activation of stabilizers and a wider array of type I to type II fibers ) harder to balance with dumbbells.

I would use barbell for strength. A) because dumbbells are no longer heavy enough for me to work on strength and B) with the barbell, youre not wasting energy kicking the dumbbells into the starting position.

Going for a PR, I would have asked for 2 spotters. One at each end.
