so i called in to ask about the $35 unlimited local calling plan.. got rejected the 5th time in a row getting the speech that customer relation discounts cannot be applied onto it.. but I ended up getting 100 bonus minutes for free =) now i need to get $5 off data..that would be perfect |
Just called to get a hardware upgrade and I was a little early so I was supposed to pay a $40 early upgrade fee. The person was nice enough to waive the $40 early upgrade fee so I got the Bold 9700 for $99 plus the admin fee and then just started to ask about my phone plan: So in the end my corporate plan without any negotiating is 300 outgoing minutes 250 incoming minutes unlimited text caller id voicemail unlimited after 6pm 6GB data comes up to around $58 after taxes, what you guys think? I can't negotiate since I'm on a corporate plan but the person helping me was nice so I didn't want to hassle him. By the way whats enhanced voicemail? |
so I called rogers again at around 5pm and got a nice lady that gave me the $5 I wanted off data. so final plan is 200 min daytime with unlimited evenings/weekends ($17.50 - $15 = $2.50) 100 bonus mins $0 unlimited incoming $0 network calling $0 caller id/voicemail/2500 txt msg $10 6gb data plan ($30 - $5 = $25) so total is $2.50 + $10 + $25 = $37.50 + $2.58 grrf = $40.08 + tax = $45.29 i'm more than happy and satisfied now :D |

woops..plan edited..I do get the unlimited evenings and weekends.. and @CRS...for the 100mins bonus I called asking about the $35 unlimited local calling plan they had..but they said they can't give any MPC for it.. so I told them I needed more weekday mins and they offered 100 bonus at no cost to keep me at my current plan made a second call and got another nice lady..told her I thought $30 for a data plan was too expensive and asked her what options I could get to lower the cost and added that I wouldn't mind even a $5 discount as it would be a great help..and also explained to her that I NEEDED the tethering as I go to lots of places without wifi.. and she went bla bla about the $25 500mb plan and how the 6gb for $30 was already a good deal, but said she understood how costs have gone up nowadays with hst n stuff and said she would add the $5 on. I think what helped me get it was she screwed up in the beginning when asking for my info so she was aplogizing from the start already..so made it easier to negotiate from my experience talking to these reps: -vancouver reps are more helpful and lenient when it comes to giving out credits -women are the most helpful...from the first 30 seconds..you can tell which reps are nice and good to talk to and which are assholes..i usually take a stab when i meet a not so good mood rep and just hang up...usually the best way is to ask them for HELP and not be too demanding and knowledgable about what discounts and plans there are.. - I think they have a set limit where your final price before tax can't be lower than 50% of the original MSRP with all features included...(reason being I called last week and a nice lady was gonna give me $10 off data but came back saying $10 off discount would make it about $35 before tax which is too low considering before discounts I should be paying $80)..so I went for $5 discount this time and it works..but I really think I've maxed out on discounts now -yea try to get MPC discounts before you negotiate feature credits cos those are the hardest to get.. - I would say if you don't have any MPC discounts you can easily get $10 to $15 off data..but if you have quite a bit of MPC discounts its hard to get $10 and impossible to get $15..offsets that way -and uhh..easiest way to get bonus minutes or even the unlimited incoming/networking options is to actually go over your minutes in one month by a little which gives you a legitimate reason of calling in and asking for bonus minutes.. (i am inclined to believe you are allowed numerous bonus minute offers as they show up as $0 on your bill and not credited so doesn't really affect your eligibility to get other discounts..and I've seen friends with like 3 100 bonus minutes on their plans..so yea..as long as you JUSTIFY the reason for it they're usually pretty nice in giving out bonus mins) that's about it for now..hope it helps...oh yea..don't try to get everything in one call..took 10 calls to get rogers to rogers switched to network calling + 100 bonus mins + $5 off data (on 3 separate calls, 1 feature per call)...so I'd focus on one thing you want to get discounted everytime you call (that applies if you already have a decent plan that makes reps reluctant to give you any more freebies) |

I called in about switching to the $17.50 plan but they said i'd lose all my credits. Are they just BSing me? Do I just need to push a bit harder? |
Those that are on plans... How are you doing it so that you're getting more add ons for free or more credits?! Reading this thread makes me hate life a little more every day.. |

Is it better to call directly to retentions or *611? Quote:
I'm paying $45 tax incl for 50 mins a month no data wtf. Posted via RS Mobile |
^call direct, some *611 csrs won't transfer you to retentions. |

yes they are bsing you...I got that same speech 5 times before I got a nice lady from vancouver that said she'd retain $15 of the $20 in MPC I had before. uh..well you either have to give them a pretty justifiable reason to keep the credits..and just call back..the more you call, the more chances you get! haha.. and I find the reps don't like it when you already know about the plan and ask for it directly demanding stuff..when I do that I get nowhere.. so usually when I call in..either I ask about upgrading phones, or call about sth on my parents line..and then just casually move over to the topic of switching plans...and get them to offer me something that will keep the price constant, meaning they'll have to give me some MPC credits one way or the other.. the main legit reason I used was I wanted the 6gb data but the $50 combo plan wouldn't allow a $5 addon to bump up the credit so I had to break the plan apart |

and yes I've been having a hard time getting transferred if i call *611 so direct is the better option |
ok called retentions for the first time. the girl offered me this plan which seems typical... after i bought up telus. 17.50 for 200 mins 6 pm E/W $40 for unlimited text, 500 mb, picture/video msging, voicemail, CID + some bill credit = 56.59 tax incl if i resign for 3 years. she wouldn't budge anymore so she noted it on my account after i said i would think about it. i want it to be at around $50 with tax included :( OR more data for that price. any ideas? |
^if you dont need unlimited text and mms...split the $40 plan into $10 retentions value pack with 2500text cd vm + $25 for 500mb data...or $30 for 6gb and try to get a discount on the data like $10.. you could try to get the package discounted too but that's pretty hard to do since its already discounted... and uh push for monthly plan discounts.. my frd told me yesterday he called and told the rep he had a hard time finding a job after grad and the rep credited the whole plan except for grrf till the end of the year.. so you could try other scenarios and see what happens |
^ no offense but that is a horrible retentions plan especially shes making you sign a 3yr contract which is a joke. You can get a way better deal. Just look at other members deals on here and say Telus offered you that with a bit extra and they will match. Thats what I did and it worked great. Only thing happened was I received my first bill it was all messed up so I called to complain and I even got a bit more out of it LOL |
For those of you who are already on retentions, how do you ask them for more/better deals? Posted via RS Mobile |

how could i talk myself out of resigning a contract? @murd0c i have been reading this thread and the plans people have negotiated are insane.. * called back a second time and they offered me nothing. the guy said to call to rogers business because i'm a business customer because i have 100 bonus mins on my existing plan. going to keep trying and make it under around the $50 mark! |
ask them how many months you have on your existing contract, how much will it cost to terminate it. they will ask you why you wanted to know, tell them you are planing to PORT out your number to Telus or Bell or Fido because they are offering you a pretty good deal. they will transfer you to retention. been there, done that.... $20/month plus tax 300 daytime mins Unlimited evening/weekend from 6pm to 8am Unlimited Rogers to Rogers Unlimited Text Call display Voicemail |
