The question is, what did you do/say during the talks?

Details are key. Every little that happened should be in this story.

This is not the best advice. If they have noted or flagged your account, then you may be hooped. Don't call again yet until you have told us the entire story with full details.

does your plan have unlimited incoming? you got like 10$ discount on yours!

carsncars 10-02-2010 10:34 PM

Hey guys,

So I renegotiated for my dad today, standard retentions plan pretty much:

$50.08 + tax
200 minutes
6 pm evenings/weekends
Unlimited incoming
CID/VM
2500 SMS
6 GB data

We took it (he was paying like $70 after tax before for 100 minutes, 8 pm evenings/weekends, no texts, and 6 GB data).

However, there's a $35 "administration fee" for the HUP to the Torch. I've already accepted and they're shipping the phone.

Do you think it's worth trying to get them to credit that fee off? Should I call the 611 or the Retentions direct line to try this? I was thinking of saying that the CSR who did the HUP never mentioned a $35 fee... but that'd be a total lie.

TOS'd 10-02-2010 11:02 PM

^ My exact plan down to the 8 cents even. You won't be able to get them to drop the $35 admin fee. It's been tried already with no success, for the Torch that is.

Ikkaku 10-02-2010 11:23 PM

how are you people getting it that low? are credits already applied? did you start with the 17.50 plan?

Alpine50 10-03-2010 12:48 AM

Thanks rev for telling me about this finally whiched my plan the other day from a little over $80 down to 60 including tax and everything

basically this plan but only 500mb of data I tryed getting more but she's like I've never even cone close to going over so I'm like alright it's all good.

300 anytime minutes
unlimited eve/weekend starting at 6
unlimited text/picture/video messaging
visual voicemail/caller id
6GB of data
SAF waived
$60.50

No unlimited incoming.

I really have no need for it. Not only do I not use up all my 350 daytime mins, but with the combination of 2500 texts, rogers to rogers and early evenings (at 5PM) there is no way for me to go over my limit or even come close.

Majority of my daytime calls occur during the weekend and that's unlimited too. So I'm not going to push for something that I don't need.

Thanks, I figured as much because the Torch is so new. Sucks how I paid like $80 after tax + FidoDollars + bonus FidoFollars for my iPhone 4 and my dad pays like $260 for a BB Torch though. :p

BeRtz 10-04-2010 01:15 PM

Woke up today called Rogers spent a good hour with them because a customer that walked into my department told me to do this and he was a genius!

I spent an hour on them and my current phone before I spoke to Rogers was my Iphone 3G I hated it the stupid thing kept freezing, the lock button was busted, it takes random pictures of things, eats up my data when I turn everything off that uses data. Nothing but dropped calls missed calls everything!

So my current plan is..
250 Minutes $20
6PM Free
CID Free
Rogers to Rogers Free
Unlimited Incoming calls Free
6 GB $30
Unlimited texting $15
Government Regulatory fee $2.95

I've upgraded to the 9800 torch btw, My former plan I was already in a 3 year contract already done 1 year but with 2 left as well so if you want a new phone you gotta renew your contract via upgrade and pay the 35 bucks admin fee I think that's for everyone that's upgrading to the blackberry 9800

terkan 10-04-2010 04:10 PM

my current plan is
250mins
6pm free
rogers to rogers
unlimited txt
cid/voicemail
6gb data
total 47.50+tax

seems pretty easy to bargain.. but then i think my dad have this acc for like 18yrs now.

BeRtz 10-04-2010 09:39 PM

=/ yeah they value seniority over people that've been new

I've been with them for 4 years now

choda 10-04-2010 10:58 PM

Ordered the torch through retentions on Friday for 179.99 also got another $5 credit on my account, plan looks like this now:

300 Mins
Unlimited incoming
Evenings and weekends @ 6
MY5 Long distance
500 MB data
Value Pack - Call ID, VM, 2500 Text etc.

47.58 + tax & whatever that fee is

CanadaGoose 10-05-2010 12:53 AM

^ I have the exact same plan as you except 400 mins, $55.20 with fees and taxes in

I want to get 1gb data next time i call, not that I really go over but I feel that's fair

c_loke 10-05-2010 09:35 AM

200 Mins
Evenings and weekends @ 6
100 CAN LD
6 GIG data
Rogers to Rogers
Value Pack - Call ID, VM, 2500 Text

37.50 + grff + tax. Works out to be ~45 a month for me which I am pretty happy with.

I could probably swap out my 6 gigs to 500 mb, so save 5 bucks, since I only used 100 mb a month with my BB.

wasabisashimi 10-05-2010 01:08 PM

we should make a survey thread about how much data people actually use.... 6GB seems so much, yet, 500MB is too little

CanadaGoose 10-05-2010 01:40 PM

^ It would have to be split into Blackberrys vs. non-blackberrys, because Berrys use data more efficiently, so 500mb might not be enough for an iPhone user, but a berry user may never touch that limit.

LC21 10-05-2010 01:56 PM

on my berry the most i've used up was around 400mb, on my iphone 4, i've only had this phone for a week and i already used 500mb +

jtanner_ 10-07-2010 04:41 PM

Have any of you been able to get an iPhone 4 while going through retentions? I see a lot of HUP for the torch... Or even then what are your reasons for getting a HUP in advance..?

Wait a minute... I thought the HUP was just the 3 month contract pricing and that's it?
Since when did they start charging us an admin fee for the HUP?

invader 10-07-2010 09:19 PM

Does a HUP require resigning a contract?

invader 10-07-2010 10:00 PM

Also the guy said the 6GB data plan is expired?

Ikkaku 10-07-2010 11:21 PM

I believe the 6gb promo expired on Tuesday

invader 10-08-2010 12:44 PM

Can anyone give me some advice on how to negotiate unlimited incoming?

This is what they offered me
A student plan:

200 minutes
E/W 6pm
Unlimited txt
My5 or double mins
Unlimited network
500mb data
VM
R2R

$59.42 after taxes

But was able to get them to transfer my $5 credit from my current plan over to this to make it

$54.42 after taxes
