When calling in, do you guys ever say like. You know of some ppl that are getting this (and then you tell them a plan and a price) and say can you get that too, or something really similar to it? And does that work? Or would it still depend on who you get and how they feel at that time.

xpl0sive 08-13-2010 02:38 PM

no don't mention other peoples plans. i was told by the retentions people that these plans are supposed to be kept confidential and they are offered on a case-by-case basis. if you start going off about what other people are getting, they will stop giving these plans out. you should just say that Telus or Bell offered you a better plan for cheaper and you're wondering if they can match it...

I usually just say what a competitor is offering like Wind and whatever the promo they have is. You can just say that you have a "friend/family member" who works for Telus, Bell, Rogers, etc and they can get you onto a special employee/friends family plan and then give them the details of what you are looking for.

It does depend on who you get and if they are willing to help....if they dont give you what you are looking for just say you need to go and call back another time....I usually end up calling a few times to get a decent offer

Fuuuuuuuu...Ive been on hold for almost 3 hours. I dont want to hang up and lose my priority sequence.

Does anyone have a number to call directly.

Just thought i'd post up my Retention plan offer through Rogers

300 daytime minutes
unlimited evenining/weekends 5pm - 7am
unlimited incoming calls
free rogers to rogers calling
voicemail, caller-id, 2500 text msgs
6 gb data
Total before tax = 40.08 and after tax is $44.89

I'm upgrading to an iphone 4 but I cant find any stock.....if anyone can help me out getting one (if you work in a rogers or apple store) that would be awesome. I've been calling every few days to see if there is stock and i'm basically getting told they have no idea and could even take another month or two!!

wow thats a good deal

jackmeister 08-13-2010 03:27 PM

do these contracts have to be 3 years? any chance at 2 years?

way2quik 08-13-2010 05:03 PM

I was 2.5 years into my contract before upgrading/renewing. My previous HUP was 1.5 years in.

Wow that is a SICK deal...you got everything I got PLUS your evenings are at 5pm (mine is at 6pm) and you're getting it for $10 less than me??

Retentions is getting a call from me tomorrow again...if it was a few bucks different I wouldnt complain...but at $10 difference, thats BS...especially for a customer that's been with them for over 15 years...

ajax 08-13-2010 10:34 PM

How should I go about them giving me a deal that Telus has? For $15 Telus offers unlimited text/im/social networking while Rogers is only unlimited im and social netowrking.

My contract ends early December 2011. I've been with rogers since 2008. Is there enough leverage for me to get a retention plan or would it really really depend on the person i talk to at this point. A friend of a friend of mine attempted retention near the very end of his contract and it back fired. 5 yrs of loyalty with roger gone. maybe he approached it wrong or w/e iono.

murd0c 08-15-2010 09:04 PM

yep you have more then enough leverage. Just figure out what kinda plan you want and call and ask to canel because Telus will give you a better deal. That's what I did and it worked steller

drakeD 08-16-2010 02:58 PM

just got off with retention. Talked to terry.

200mins
early evening 6PM
unlimited text
500mb data
caller id + vm

$40 + $2.58 gov't + hst = $47.69 monthly

$100 + $35admin
bb9700

i tried to get the 2.58 gov't fee waived for no good.
i said ill think it about it some more. This was my first time calling retentions.
any thoughts/opinions.

Look up. Compared to Rich's plan, you were offered shit.

I'm thinking I'll be calling in soon to see what I can manage soon, since I'll need to open up at least one new line, so maybe they'll give me the chance to get an early HUP.

Plus, if I can save ~$20/mo on the plan I've got now, then I'll end up in the black in the long run, even without a full discount on a phone. Though waiting a bit longer may benefit me more with selling another phone...

Decisions, decisions.

jtanner_ 08-17-2010 09:45 AM

How long do you have to be with rogers for roughly before being able to call into retentions? Or is it more based off of how nice your rep is?

This is my current plan:

* 200 Weekday Minutes
* Unlimited Eve/Wknd Minutes
* 6pm Early Evenings
* Call Forward/Trans.Pay Per Use
* Data Service Plan 500MB
* Unltd Picture or Video Msgs.
* Partial Detail Billing
* Unlimited Text Messages
* MY5 + 5 Add'l Numbers Bonus <- So it's my 10 essentially lol

I also have CID, VM and all that jazz with no SAF.

My plan comes to about $56 after taxes... and i've only been with rogers since March of 2009. I've been wanting to call retentions but aren't too sure what to say

optiblue 08-17-2010 07:44 PM

^I have less than you and I'm paying $73 after tax :(

saveth 08-17-2010 08:41 PM

i got the exact same offer as rich today but i was quoted 50.08 before taxes. Im gonna call back and try to get an extra 10$ off.

c_loke 08-17-2010 09:53 PM

called in today to get my plan changed to a negotiated one a few weeks ago since I just did a hardware upgrade.

200 Daytime/Unlimited Evenings and Weekends @ 6 - $17.50 ($5 Credit)
CID/VM/2500 TXT - $10 (Credited)
6Gig Data - $30
100 Cad LD - $0
Rogers to Rogers - $5 (Credited)
My5 - hasnt been added yet, will need to call retention to get it added but will be credited
_______________________
$42.50 + grff + 911 + tax.

Not too shabby. Will probably swap out the 6 gig of data for 500 mb since I have a blackberry.

JLC 08-18-2010 09:59 AM

saveth: let us know how successful you are at getting them to match Rich's plan...
I still have yet to call back but I will soon.

thanks!

saveth 08-18-2010 10:52 AM

I have 30 days to accept the plan. Im waiting to get my hand on an iPhone 4 before I call them to re negotiate.
