My plan they offered: $50 200 weekday minutes unlimited after 6pm and weekends unlimited texting 500mb data no SAF +$8 for Caller ID |
Is there a certain time during your plan when you should call and ask for a retention? My situation is as follows: My 3 year contract will expire in September of this year There are two phones on my account, and only one of it is mine. I have: 150 Daytime Minutes 1000 Weekend and Evenings Unlimited Rogers to Rogers, Fido and Rogers Land Lines Enhanced Voicemail Caller ID Unlimited texting, picture message etc. And I have a monthly plan credit that takes off $10 every month, and everything tax in adds up to roughly $50. Should I call now? Or should I wait a bit closer to September, will it matter? I have a Samsung BlackJack II so I could use the excuse that I am looking to add a data plan onto my phone, and maybe considering switching to a different carrier. Do I also have to get the retention for the other account? Or just mine. I would like to get a retention for the other one as well if possible. Any input will be nice. Thanks. |

besides 5 months is only $100 cancelling fee..they'll more than believe that you'll cancel for another carrier with a better offer.. |

I have a little over 5 months left on my contract, but this stupid plan is really costing me. On multiple occasions I have already expressed my concern for the plan not working out (paying too much), and have compared them to bell over the phone with customer service. If I called again would I have any chance of being forwarded to retentions if I threatened to cancel and/or jump ship right after the contract expires? |

When you get the automated answering machine, just say "Cancel my plan/phone". And when you get the agent, say it again. Don't go into too much detail but ask how much longer is left on contract and what is the cancellation fees associated. Say thats fine, I want to cancel because I can get a cheaper plan that will still be cheaper for me overall at Bell (Telus, Wind, Koodo, etc...). They will then transfer you to "Customer Relations" aka retentions. From there, everyone plays it a little differently but if you read through this thread, you'll see how a lot of the strategies have a similar base component. Good luck. |
i called in three times, and i still cannot get a hardware upgrade have to wait for another 3 months fuck |
I just got a new plan through retention: $24.50 (plus tax) - 250 anytime minutes - unlimited evening/weekend from 6pm - unlimited incoming - call display/name display/voice mail - 3 year contract what do you guys think? |

That is a pretty good plan |
I lost track... but I think around 6-7 years. I didn't previously have contract with them though. The representative told me I could get a free phone up to $49.99 (as appears on the website). Today I phoned back, they told me the phone is free, but there is a $35 admin fee that cannot be waived. Does anyone know if that is true? I am a bit mad, because the first customer relation representative never mentioned it. |
It is true that there is a $35 admin fee. It is false that it cannot be waived. You just need to talk it out. |

i want opinions on what they offered me for 3 yr contract 500 d/t eve/wkd 6pm, call id, visual vm, unlimited sms/mms rogers to rogers/fido 6gb data $81.42 taxes in i basically want to get them down on price a little bit and possibly get a my 5, since last time i was dating a girl on bell i got raped on daytime mins. Other concern is hardware upgrade, theyre saying since i got a new iphone last march they wont give a new one till mar 2011, i def dont want to wait that long. So whats it going to take to get the new iphone this summer? |
is there a reason why people still stay with rogers rather than go fido? I just talked to retentions at fido and got $40 unlimited local calling (anywhere in canada) 2500 text free call id free voicemail no saf no contract. I can add a 500mb data for $20 but didnt need it. much better than rogers imo but same network, etc etc. no? |
I just got off the phone with Rogers retentions department. I'm 2 years away from my contract end, but I called ready to buy my contract out and say bye bye because I've been getting ripped off by Rogers for long enough. The whole call only took about 10 minutes lol :D... $43.33 tax included (was $53.33) 300 daytime minutes Unlimited evenings/weekends 6pm MY 5 nationwide Caller ID Voicemail 2500 sent texts (unlimited incoming) 500MB data ***UPDATE*** Check this out, I called again.... now I'm at $43.33 tax included LOOOL!!!! I did sign up for a mobile rocket stick internet since the last time I called though, so maybe that gave me some extra leverage. btw got a free netbook with a 2yr contract for that one, no sign up fee's or cost for the hardware either! Fuck you rogers! LOL |
I've been on this plan for about a year now, but have been a customer for 5 years. You think there is anyway I can get them to trim some money off per month. My bill is a constant $100ish a month. I had to give up a lot of my end though. I use mainly the thread at RFD for what type of deals the the members on that thread receive. However, most of them are from Ontario. Thus, they have better deals since the competition in the East give out better deals as well. Instead of the GRRF fee ( ~ $1.68 ), I still had to pay with SAF ($ 6.95). Also, my base plan was my the old 250 minute-$20 retention deal from years back. I was requesting for the $ 17.50 200 minute/6PM Unlimited Eve + Weekend deal that they currently have right now. But if I did, I would not be able to keep my $15 monthly credit. I know it's a rip, but I've been renegotiating with Rogers Retentions for a span of 3 months and I could not get them to not remove my $15 monthly credit if I had the 17.50 base voice plan. My previous plan that I negotiated from 2007 are as follows: 250 Minutes Unlimited Evenings and Weekends $20 6 PM early Evening Option $ 5 Rogers to Rogers - Credited $ 0 Communication Value Pack (2500 Txt/VM/CID/10,000 MMS, Video, and Picture Messaging/ 5MB Data) $20 Monthly Plan Credit ($15) $30 before the fees |
^ I was told by one of the reps that the reason you can't have a $15 monthly credit on your plan is because they're not allowed to take that much off a $17.50 plan. Might be BS, because the rep I got my current plan from seems to have taken it from other areas. For about the same plan as yours, I'm paying $2.50 less overall, as well as the $1.58 GRR instead of the $6.95 SAF. I also get 50 more daytime but only because the +100 was a bargained free bonus. I don't get your 100 long distance minutes either. The way the credits are applied to my plan, they gave me $10 off the retentions Value Pack, and then $5 off the 500MB data plan. Which makes it $17.50 + $10 - $10 + $25 - $5. |
