Seems like $50 before taxes is the normal amount:

$17.50 for your rententions plan
$10.00 Value pack:Caller id, voice, txt
$20.00 Data 6gb
$2.58 Govt fees

Which makes me wonder, what credit did they apply to your account (rich) besides the normal $10 for data? I think I maxed out my credits with the Long distance minutes and incoming calls, rogers to rogers..

And has anyone had any bad/difficult experiences with retentions? I only ask to gauge how lenient they are for the most part.

AND anyone with the 500mb data plan MAKE SURE you get the 6gb data for only $5 more.

You guys should check out some of the retention plans on howard.forums. No idea how some of the guys get their plans- one dude had 700 daytime minutes or something ridiculous.

Alphamale 08-19-2010 11:15 AM

fyi, there is also the retention flex-rate data play for $10 bucks which gets you 100mb. 100-150 is $15, 150-500 I think is $20, and 500-1GB is $25.

Not available for Blackberries.

RabidRat 08-19-2010 01:11 PM

Hey I just got off the phone with Rogers retentions; anyone know if you can do any better than this for long distance in Canada?

100 minutes LD: $5
1000 minutes LD: $10
Unlimited LD: $20
Unlimited LD on Rogers/Fido network: $15

I read before that you can get 1000 LD minutes for $5 - is that no longer available?

Drow 08-19-2010 01:18 PM

200 anytime
free evening after 6 / weekend
2500 txt
call display and voicemail
unlimited incoming

$28.34 after tax

sup

Szeto 08-19-2010 03:09 PM

Retention Rep: sorry, can't do it. Sorry it's no longer available. Sorry, this is the best we can do.

............................. how do you counter that?

Alphamale 08-19-2010 03:34 PM

Call in to get another rep, DDDDDDUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

MarkyMark 08-19-2010 03:36 PM

Tell them you want to cancel your account, see if they call your bluff or not

My sister and I have our contracts due up at around Feb 2011. We've been solid customers for a good 10 years.
Now our plans are currently SHIT and i'm incredibly unhappy after reading some of the deals you guys got!
I've never gotten through to a retention plan before, so this owuld be my first time. Hopefully nothing is flagged on my account.
My leverage is to say that if they can't offer me something i can't refuse, i'll wait for the contracts to end (or just cancel) and take both of our business elsewhere.

I'm going to call in looking for 2 new iphone 4's on 2 new 3 year contracts for my sister and I.
I'm looking for the following for each of us:
~350 Anytime Minutes
Unlimited evening/weekend after 5 (6pm)
Unlimited incoming
Network Calling (rogers-rogers)
Voice/Caller ID/Unlimited texting/Call waiting
6GB Data

** What is the diff between the SAF and this government fee you guys are talking about?

In the end, hopefully i'd be spending somewhere around the $100-120 range TAXES IN for BOTH phones on a monthly basis. I find that this isn't pushing too much because im pointing out 2 lines with 2 new contracts?

Do you guys think this is asking for a lil too much?

chouchou 08-19-2010 07:25 PM

So i called into relations today.
This is what they offered:

For me:
17.50 Retentions Plan
30.00 6gb data
20.00 data value pack (unlim text/pic/instnant, visual voice, caller id, name display..)
Unlimited network calling credited.
10$ monthly credit

turns out to be 66$ taxes in a month

for my sister:
17.50 retentions plan
unlimited network calling credited
10$ flex rate (i'm going to assume she won't use much data..)
and a 10$ value pack (2500 text/voice/call id..) the retentions guy won't budge to credit this.

taxes in, it'll be about 112.00 for both our plans taxes included.
take or try and milk my way through a little more?

I got it last month. May have expired. Keep this in mind: The LD will eat into your daytime minutes. In my case, I have 1000LD mins, 300 Day and most of my calls are to the east coast during east coast working hours thus eating into my day mins.

Of course, I will never use 1000 mins but I think its just the fact that its 'there'.

And Chouchou, how many daytime mins are you getting? If you have 2 lines and pay your bills regularly, thats a big chunk of change for them to lose. Maybe add some LD mins but besides that, your plan is pretty comprehensive especially with network calling credited- thats a $10 option.

chouchou 08-19-2010 07:58 PM

i'm gettin 200 + 100 bonus. i dont call any LD at alll..
i'm just iffy because i keep reading on here/rfd/howard that people are getting insane amounts of $ in credit.

sas 08-20-2010 01:32 PM

Yeah some of those deals on howard forums are insane. I have no idea how they get over 500 daytime mins. Must have a lot of services with rogers.

How much bargaining power do I have if:

Two contracts expire in 1 year, and
One contract with a data plan expires in 2 years?

All three phones on the same account.

Also would adding two more lines to the contract, five in total, add more to my bargaining power?

TOS'd 08-24-2010 12:10 PM

Just got offered

300 Daytime Mins
Unlimited E/W 6pm
Unlimited Network Calling
Call Display
Enhanced Voicemail
2500 SMS sending out/unlimited receiving
6 GB Data
No SAF
No Gov't Recovery

$50.08 + taxes

yay or nay

EDIT:
Woah almost of the same plan as you!
Only differences I see is the 100 cdn L/D mins. Are you getting charged for Recovery fee?

Quick Question. Does texting plans include texts to a US number? Cdn number in the US? or just local text to cdn number?

DanHibiki 08-24-2010 01:45 PM

Hey guys. If I'm planning to switch to Rogers from Fido, or at least using Roger's deal as leverage for a better one at Fido, who would be the best to talk to? A CR at the store or on the phone?

way2quik 08-24-2010 04:24 PM

Fido = Rogers. Fido will not care if a Rogers plan is better.
Instead, I'd mention Bell or WIND to a rep.

I understand they r under the same owner but it seems they still compete against one another.

Culverin 08-25-2010 12:12 AM

*rage*

so I've called up rogers...

Last Monday
Called them, punched in the "to change or cancel your plan" extension to try and squeeze them for a better plan, they offered me a crap plan in the mid $70s
Obviously, it turned it down, neither of us seemed to budge, I couldn't really seem to figure out how to drag on the conversation any longer, so resignedly, I told them I'm quitting and then hung up.

Thursday, I called again.
Transfered from 1 person, to somebody who I thought was in retentions.
He was quite courteous and eloquent, I explain my situation, longer time rogers customer, looking to upgrade, no android 2.2 phones, need data, and increased usage and I wanted to keep my caller ID and rogers to rogers.
He played along and said he'll try to figure something out, went on hold, came back and said what I'm asking is too far from what he can give me, then said I had to get transferred again.

an HOUR later (still thursday),
Somebody picks up (i thought they all went home for the day).
This guy was brown as f*ck. I could barely understand him, he kept blabbering really fast.
There was a lot of give and take, I had to re-explain to him what I was looking for, and why I wanted to leave rogers, and that the previous rep said they would try and give me a better deal and I would at least hear them out.
So I thought things were looking up.
He quoted me a bunch of complicated plans, with "options", stuff like unlimited everything and other things, the rate he worked out was once again in the mid $70's, but this time the plans sounded a lot better.
I told him that was still far more than I could afford, so we started working his way down, and I told him that some of what he quoted was stuff I didn't need.

He quoted a final plan that sounded like this:
200 Daytime
Unlimited evenings after 6, and weekends.
Unlimited Network (what used to be rogers to rogers).
Unlimited incoming calls.
2500 texts
Caller ID, Voice Mail
6gb of data.

My target was $50, that's what some of my other friends have gotten.
Their deals were a little better, one got also got 250 daytime, another got 300 daytime. Both got 100 longdistance minutes as well.

This worked out to be $60, but the guy threw in a $5 credit.
Sure it's a little worse than my friends, but I figured it's as good as I'll be able to push them.
I was pretty sick of dealing with them as this point.

I told them, I'm not too thrilled, but I'm willing to settle for this.
Rep says, he'll go away for a bit, (log it?) and fill in the details.

So out of the plan, I really needed the Free Network and Unlimited Incoming, that way, I wouldn't need to watch my minutes as 90% of my friends and family are on rogers or fido.

Checking my plan on the internet login, it seems that those 2 things were NOT logged.
A little confused, I called up rogers customer service, and chatted to one of their sh*t tier reps, asked them what's up with this and can they look into it for me? I asked very nicely.
They they came back and said they checked the log and that I was offered those things and turned them down, and they if I wanted them, I would have to go to a much more expensive Talk plan.
Pissed off, and not knowing what to do I hung up.

WTF.
I got screwed.

Yes, I admit that it's probably my fault for not
  1. not playing harder ball initially.
  2. not having the brown rep repeat my exact plan.

So now what?
I'm so freaking angry I'm on the verge of just calling them up and quitting.
Sure, I'll be getting a worse plan @ the other carriers, but I'm frankly really sick of rogers.

What do I do now?
Will they budge at all?
Will I get dinged that "cancellation fee"? Is it even legally binding? Cause Injury Waivers on skitrips aren't legally binding, but are weighted in court.

Please advise RS, you're my only hope :(
